The planning, design, research, tooling, and manufacturing that goes into a model is simply remarkable. Have a look at how a Roco model goes from the drawing table to the shelves of hobby shops around the globe. Modelleisenbahn Gmbh owners of Roco makes some of the best models in the world and this video shows all the work they do to make all our dreams of model railroading a reality. Thank Modelleisenbahn Gmbh for all your hard work and great quality models.

    Loco prices are going up, but seeing Roco still make their stuff in Europe with such attention to detail, the price is more than justified.

      Well, some things still have to be done by hand. No matter where they’re made, that’s still true. But because of computers and CAD/CAM, models today are vastly better than models from more than 30-40 years ago. Those were simple and primitive, unless they cost thousands.

    My favorite MRR manufacturer is Roco. I'm willing to pay extra for models made in Europe. Roco has superb motors also, and together with decoders from ZIMO, the locomotives are the best runners I know. I just watched how Rapido Trains use a laser scanner to make accurate 3D drawings from prototypes. I hope this will become the new industry standard.

    Roco ha rivoluzionato il modellismo ferroviario italiano con l'uscita, tanti anni fa, della bellissima ed avveniristica, per la fedeltà ai dettagli ed alla scala, E626, in tutte le livree e versioni. Di seguito ha incrementato la produzione di materiale rotabile italiano con eccellenti prodotti, carri, carrozze, materiale di trazione. Una produzione sempre eccellente, e credo apprezzata dal mercato italiano, che ha dimostrato un discreto volume di acquisti. Ora ci sentiamo trascurati, nuovi modelli ispirati alle nostre ferrovie non ne appaiono da tempo. Come mai ?

      3D printing is still way too slow and the manufacturing would be too expensive because how slow the printing is. Also you still would need to produce a nice zinc or die cast frame. It cost about 2 million to bring out a high end model in Europe but once the tooling is built you can manufacture that model for decades.

    • @goaliegeorge
      @goaliegeorge 5 років тому +3

      Ye Old Geezer American locos have a narrow body compared to European wide body locos. To get the torque needed, they’ll need a motor that size and to fit, they have to stand it up. That and to drop it deeper into the frame would require new tooling, so they’ll make these as long as they can until new tooling becomes necessary.

    • @denzzlinga
