Its a fairly long one, and the walk back to the car wasn’t the most exciting, but I’m sure if you went back over some of the hills it could be slightly better! Hope you enjoy it when you go!
Well done Alastair 6 Munro's conquered on a windy but lovely day. I will be looking forward to your next adventure. You walked 30km and it was not all flat a good workout.
Nice one Alistair! This walk was also my first Cairngorms foray about 2 months ago, only I was not nearly brave enough to add in Tolmount and Tom Buidhe!!
Brilliant Alistair. Loving the footage. I feel like I'm following you both around the hills (a week later) after viewing your vids in advance. I'm around the 30 mark also, so I do enjoy the watching your days on the hills, to give confidence we can manage them also. I dont have the luxury of a Douglas to help lead the way, but I have a great companion in my 14 year old son, who's also loving the footage. Keep it up guys 👍
Thanks Tony, I really appreciate the comment and glad you’re both enjoying the videos. Douglas is good for leading the way but he has managed to go the wrong way once or twice now!
It seemed strange to do the Glas Maol 4 on their own and then come back for Tom Buidhe and Tolmount, but after getting to Glas Maol with one left to do I was feeling a bit burst!
Finally got round to watching! As you say, very different from the West walks. Looking to do this next week and weather allowing wild camp somewhere along the route. Can't wait to get back out..
It really is a different landscape from the West. I’m keen to do more to see the variety of the Cairngorms. Do you plan on doing the 6 or all 9 on your trip?
Great job Alistair, really enjoyed this video, looks a great circuit that I have to try this year, but it’s much longer than what I’ve tried so far. Will keep your inspirational video in mind if I get to it. Keep up the great and down to earth content, could only be better if the videos are longer 😀
Thanks Glen, glad people are enjoying the videos. We just try to be ourselves and have a laugh and joke as we go along. There is a fair bit of distance but the lack of ascent in between makes it much more manageable. Maybe worth considering the first 4 as a loop and leave the last 2 for another trip?
Two months ago I’ ve done this route but I crossed the road and done another 3 Munro’s on the other side of the road. It took all together37 km and 11 hrs .
That’s a mighty walk indeed! There were a few runners out that day who were doing the same as you. I called it, having been a wee bit burst and also not looking forward to the 2+ hour drive home afterwards!
Thanks for watching! The GPX of the route is on our Walk Highlands article: www.walkhighlands.co.uk/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=106333 I would say that it might be better to head to Tolmount after Carn An Tuirc instead of what I did. Might save some time and ascent.
It was a relatively long, but straightforward day given the visibility was excellent, however you are really exposed up there so gotta take precautions for the elements.
@@HighlandHikers thanks for the reply, enjoy your channel. Did you start the route from Glas Maol starting point on Walk Highlands? I'm wanting to camp nearby and catch the Cairnwell side following day.
Yup, just went for that start point and then added the other 2 Munros in. There were people camping at the start point so that could be an option for you.
Cairngorms, Full of rolling hills, not very dramatic, never been a fan. And of course expect wind.......lots of it, highest recorded wind speed in Scotland around this god forsaken featureless landscape.
The landscape is certainly very different to the Munros in the west coast. I’m looking forward to hiking a few more in the Cairngorms to see the difference between them and the ones featured in this video.
I did this route yesterday it was absolutely epic
Was a glorious day as well, glad you had fun!
Thank you for sharing your Munro bagging
You’re welcome!
That`s a long hike! Well done, not sure if I could do that! Interesting to see the Caingorms, I have not been there. Thanks
Once you’re up on the plateau there isn’t that much ascent/descent, which makes it a lot easier
Interesting, thanks again!!
Planning Sundays route and came across you in Walk highlands. Will be giving this route a go!

@@HighlandHikers thanks for the reply, for sure that was a long slog back to the car, managed it in just under 5 hours all in so a good day out.
Well done Alastair 6 Munro's conquered on a windy but lovely day. I will be looking forward to your next adventure. You walked 30km and it was not all flat a good workout.
Thanks Douglas. It was my first long walk this year and I was definitely feeling it on the way back down the road from the ski centre.
Nice one Alastair! Great effort! Paul
Thanks Paul. I was certainly feeling it the next day.
Nice one Alistair! This walk was also my first Cairngorms foray about 2 months ago, only I was not nearly brave enough to add in Tolmount and Tom Buidhe!!
Some might say brave, others might say silly!

@@HighlandHikers I'm sure he has. Keep that for the bloopers video😁
We certainly have enough footage for a bloopers video
Good job and great video. Well done indeed
Thank you Paul. It felt quite the effort given my lower level of fitness compared to Dougie but I’m still pretty happy with what I achieved!
Well done on the 6. Did this route a few months back. Long day but worth it to bag 6.

@@HighlandHikers I had only considered the 6 but now you think of it....
The other 3 are meant to be very straight forward, 3-4 hours with not much ascent
@@HighlandHikers all 9 are certainly doable. Will depend on the weather and where I decide to pitch camp. Watch this space!
I’ve seen some people do all 6 in a day but that would be fairly long!

Great video , think I shall share this with the walkibg group on fb to see if any1 would be up for a challenge 😀

@Highland Hikers it is a great video, Is there anywhere I can download this 6 Munro loop GPX
