Hey everyone, Merry Christmas, sorry I'm not able to respond to your comments as normal here, but trust me I still read every single one! Hope you're all having a nice day, thanks for watching :)
Deeside is just beautiful. Thats the best place on earth for me, and the views around Glenshee or Lecht are just stunning. Im so lucky to leave in Aberdeen and to have this so close ❤
Thank you again for all your videos this year . This last one was wonderful.. We wish you both a Happy Christmas and a Prosperous New Year 🥃. Slainte. Chris & June
Another great road, surprised you hadn't been to Blairgowrie or Bridge of Calley before. You need to spend less time on travel to exotic places and more in your local area. A road for next year is the B951 through GlenIsla, start at Kirriemuir and end up on the A93 Braemar road. A good mixture of scenery on the route. The road can be narrow in places but never really gets to single track.
Good video, looks brilliant covered in snow, I did this road in mid October coming from Inverness and Ballater down to Dundee, The colours of the trees was spectacular, I want to do it Northbound next time, You can keep the NC 500 (which I did half of), prefer this area far more
Great adventure Steve, what is the name of the piano music piece, it’s lovely. Only recently found your Chanel, is great, thinking of trying some of the ferry trips, just getting the courage to try them on my own. Normally I go to Crete to see my daughter.
I'd love to try some Greek ferry hopping, maybe not in the heat they have just now though. Thanks so much for watching! I tend to pop music info in the video description (when I remember to)...:)
@ 10.00 minutes: "Clootie dumpling." Takes 3 HOURS to make - but in a microwave, 8 - 9 minutes. Beautiful!! Here's the recipe from Irvine: Ingredients: 8oz plain flour 4oz sugar Two eggs, beaten 1 heaped teaspoon mixed spice 1 heaped teaspoon cinnamon 1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda 8oz butter 8oz sultanas 4oz currants 4oz raisins 1 tablespoon of treacle 1/2 pint water Method: Put the water, sugar, mixed spice, cinnamon, dried fruit, butter, and the treacle into a pot. Bring to the boil, and simmer for a couple of minutes. Remove from the heat and mix in the flour and bicarbonate of soda. Add 2 beaten eggs. Pour the mixture into a large microwave bowl which is lined with cling-film - to go well over the sides. Don’t cover the dumpling mixture with the cling-film. Cook in the microwave on full power for 8 - 9 minutes. Leave to set in the bowl for 20 minutes before transfering to a plate.
Incredible! My favorite video of yours...EVER! Hands down! This was so heart warming & amazing from beginning to end! It was also so wonderful to see you & Alicja together again in this enchanting Christmas adventure...from last year no less! You & Alicja are truly a 'dynamic duo" & are so sweet together! The sweet dynamic & rapport you have together is just so endearing & very special! Please don't ever change! Strathardle Lodge is such a magical place with such a beautiful ambience! It matches you both perfectly! No wonder Alicja didn't want to leave & you want to return so much! I would love to see that too! Please do! Then, after the wonderful time spent there, only you Steve, could be passing by at the exact moment when such a cute horse & Shetland Pony were playing, frolicking & rolling in the snow! Amazing! That was also the sweetest thing! After this, once again, we see your funny sense of humor! When you remarked that you were lost & so now would just have to stay there & build a log cabin. LOL. As well as, the 'Christmas Past" clip in black & white of you with the Antler headband on & Alicja wearing the Santa hat wishing us a Merry Christmas. Hilarious & very sweet! As well as... brilliant! Indeed! Thank you for sharing this delightful Christmas experience! The sweetest & best Christmas video on YT! Christmas blessings to both you & Alicja! God bless us every one!
Wonderful stuff Steve. Stunning presentation of Scotland. Your part of the reason I no longer tolerate mainstream television. Best wishes sir in to 2023 for you both. Love your channel
In my childhood in the 1950s, we used to drive from home (in the English West Country) to the village of Glenkindie on Donside (not far from Strathdon) to visit my grandmother. Our route took us up Glenshee and up the Devil's Elbow. This was very dramatic, especially in a second-hand pre-war car! Haven't been that way for decades, so it was wonderful to see the road (even without the Devil's Elbow) in your beautiful video. The scenery was stunning and the light was fantastic. Another stunner, Steve and Alicja! Oh, and what a find Strathardle Lodge was. Wishing you a very happy Christmas and looking forward to more wonderful videos in the New Year!
Lovely mountain scenery, showing more of the beautiful Highlands. Grand Lodge too, making it look special, with warmth, lights and friendliness. Happy Christmas to you both!
Thankyou for this beautiful video. Driving past my home at Dalnaglar and past my sisters house at the spittal. A beautiful Glen so under discovered. Best wishes..
Good day Steve, what a wonderful set of videos. This is my first message to you and I hope not the last. I currently live in South Africa and am in the process of applying for my spousal visa to live in Scotland. I am 62 and have never been to the UK, so your videos have been a great inspiration and help in choosing where to live. my wife and I have chosen Cadham in Glenrothes as our new home. We have binge- watched just about all your videos and have enjoyed every one, Thank you, and I hope to see more. See you all in Scotland in February of 2023 , who know we might even bump into you on one of your wonderful adventures.
Merry Christmas to you both. Thanks for another great video and a great year of content. I'm offshore for Christmas but seeing you guys having a great time up in the hills has cheered me right up!
I drive this road on a regular basis to visit my elderly mother and my best friend since primary 1 on his farm in this stunning part of the world. Arguably one of the best driving roads in Scotland. Thanks for the memories on this dark wet Monday morning in the Central belt of Scotland.
Yet again you have brought memories flooding back. Our eldest son hadhisfirst snow skiing at Glenshee, after lessons from the guy who taught the King! Such beautiful scenery up there. Merry Christmas to you both, have a great time, and thanks for the sheer joy of Scotland 🏴
I realized today how valuable your videos are for capturing the beauty of Scotland and another reason to be proud of her and her people. Merry Christmas, guys. 🎅 Be well and stay safe. 🙏
as an English person, I can also agree there. Scotland is quite simply probably the nicest place on the planet, every where you go there is stunning scenery.
The wee village, Blairgowrie & Rattray, is in fact the biggest town in Perth & Kinross. Stop over some time. or even better, try Alyth. Lots to see and do.
Another cracking video. Lived in Scotland almost all of my days and so many places that ive never been to or seen within god's own country. Hope you both have an amazing Christmas and new year! 💚😁
I’m a wee bit late in watching this. It was great to see you eating that clootie dumpling. My good friend (and pen pal for over 45 years), Maureen, who lives in Wormit, made it for my husband and me during one of our visits. I loved it! And I love seeing Scotland again, as I sit here in Illinois, USA, through your adventuresThanks.
I really enjoy watching you two when you go on your road trips. There is always such a sense of fun, enjoyment and appreciation of the incredible scenery. When I lived in Scotland I really appreciated that was so easy and quick to get up into the hills. Nowadays I live in East Anglia. We’ve got some pretty cool places nearby but nothing to compare with the scenery of Scotland.
I was curious about the pyramid shaped hill @ 05:04. Is that a natural formation or temporarily looking like that due to snow and ice. What a beautiful set of views we've been shared. Thanks to both Alicja and Steve. Great tidings and great joy for He is born! Merry Christmas! - Apologies - still working on my Gaelic so I use very short sentences. Sgeul mòr agus gàirdeachas mòr dha Tha e air a bhreith! Nollaig Chridheil!
Hi John it works both ways .Although born and bred perth Scotland .In the late 60s we ended up living at RAF upwood ( in your region i believe ) i will never forget the place absolutely loved it
Just watched your last video. It’s amazing the places you visit so close to your home town. You almost have the country to yourselves. And you managed to include a dog, horses and nice bar maid serving a tipsy customer. Very nice and merry x-mas to you !
What a beautiful & romantic trip you two had! The lodge looked so warm and cozy. It was lovely to see the snowy hills, and the drive was stunning with the stormy weather. You two are so cute and funny. Thanks for sharing your trip with all of us. Until I get there myself one of these years, I'm really enjoying visiting Scotland with you Steve. I yearn to see it so much. Thanks again, Erin from the SW, United States.
@3m30s yeah its a bit of a anti climax when you go looking for a village/population at glenshee there's virtually nothing BUT another little gem for you to seek out and what would be classed as the village of glenshee (other than braemar) is kirk michael a route that nobody generally would land on unless looking for it if you want a time warp that's a place to go have a look absolutely stunning old village, have a quick look on street view :)
We were up that road at end of August it’s a great route even better in winter, although there are not enough stopping places for photos. That was some brekkie, looked fab. Have a great Christmas and New year both
Another fantastic video Steve and Alicia. Happy Christmas to you both and thank you for another year of brilliant videos. Looking forward to see what’s in store for 2023. Take care both
Merry Christmas Steve and Alicja and all the best for 2023. Love watching your videos as a reminder of my native Scotland, whilst i enjoy yet another summer Christmas in New Zealand :)
You're indeed 'sooo lucky'. I traveled along the A93 in summertime 2019. Thank you for showing it in wintery conditions. It's quite a transformation. Merry Christmas to the both of you and your loved-ones. Greetings
Nice to see Glen Shee again, but have you driven the road from Kenmore to Amalree, it may be higher, its a little used, narrow road and very isolated. Best use an O/S map to find it. Happy NY from an old Dundonian.
Thanks for the view from you van and the snow looks nice and snowy and it is very beautiful view with the snow on the mountains and round and the roads are clear and nice to see you both out and about again have a good Christmas 🤶
Amazing adventure.lovely to watch..brings back memories when we used to take our young family for snow boarding and skiing.up at 4am in morning...fun times...thanks to you both...merry Xmas. 🥰
Merry Christmas Steve and Alicja. We went that route back in April and the snow was unbelievable, we had wanted to visit the Lecht mine but it was so snowy. We headed further down the road towards Blairgowrie and no snow at all, it was like 2 different worlds! Have a good one and look forward to more videos in the new year.🎉
What a lovely place to stay, lovely tree, I just hope the bar staff have a few cheerier clientele in the future, you found a gem. Honesty bar wow I can’t drive so love all dash cam videos. Take care best Xmas wishes to you both
what a great film for Christmas eve Steve. love it especially the music (fly on the wall deskant). and yes please full dashcam footage .may you Steve and alicja have a wonderful Christmas and a very happy new year. already looking forward to more from you guys in 2023. all the best.
Fantastic video. My last time in Scotland late March 1997. Take my then Thai GF (now wife) to see my country. Stop Glen Shee center. That year patchy snow. No skiers but plenty paragliders. Had to find a snow drift to throw snowballs. First and last time for my wife. My last photo of my old Porche 924. before sell and fly back Thailand for ever.
Another wonderful video Steve. As a Scotsman living in Surrey, you forget how beautiful my old country is. Such a shame that current political issues are giving people in England and abroad a jaundiced a view of Scotland. All they can ask about is the First Minister. Keep up the great work though. 🙋♂️🏴
Your comment about politics in Scotland and their effect could invite ripostes about the state of governance in your chosen homeland, but as it is the season of goodwill I will keep quiet. Merry Christmas.
Those of us in the U.S. who have traveled to Scotland still love it and appreciate its warm and friendly folk. These videos enable us to see the beauty of your land.❤
JUST beautiful to look at, and you 2 as daft as ever, Thanks for some amazing vlogs this year. God bless you both and have a wonderful Christmas 🌲🎁. Looking forward to your content next year,🏴😎
Thanks for another good reminder of my childhood stamping ground, in the days when the A93 included the Devil’s Elbow. When the school took us on a hill walk on the Cairnwell, we all had to get off the bus so it could negotiate the hairpin bend! Surprised you hadn’t heard of Blairgowrie, though. Nice wee toon.
As someone who's currently experiencing a 'proper' winter (check the BBC's North America headlines) I'll take your beautiful version any day. Happy Christmas!
These road trips are so special and the icing and sugar on the hills make it that much more magical. Thanks Steve for another wonderful video. Looking forward to 4K videos in future.
Goosebumps watching this one. We did this run one summer. Inverness to Perth. Amazing road, some bits are like a rollercoaster!!! My son loved it.....the wife leas so!!! Going to have to do it again I think Hope you both have a good Christmas and Hogmanay 🎄🏴
What a great drive. I haven't been to Scotland for over 20 years now but I still remember such trips aound Loch Fyne or up near Ulapool. I shall have to come back.
A lovely video with great scenery and a beautiful place to stay overnight. Wishing you both a very Merry Christmas and look forward to more superb videos next year.
Wonderful trip! You do such a great job filming and assembling these videos of Scotland - although I've never been, everything seems so familiar. I can't explain it, but the narrow lanes, wee kirks with centuries-old histories, majestic vistas, and villages feel like home. Well done and Happy Christmas!
Another one of my favorite ways to travel video. What wonderful scenery, and the sky.. loved the inn that you stayed at. Merry Christmas to you both! Be well, stay safe, God bless, love from Texas.
Hey everyone, Merry Christmas, sorry I'm not able to respond to your comments as normal here, but trust me I still read every single one! Hope you're all having a nice day, thanks for watching :)
Your allowed time off too steve … enjoy
No worries Steve enjoy the rest of Christmas and Hogmanay of course.
Happy new year your Lordship.
Happy stuff pal 😀
Hey Steve, do you do all these travels purely for UA-cam filming or are these trips you are already on, like business trip or something that you film?
what a cracking adventure, ruddy cold but the scenery with snow is just mint. would be well worth the effort to stand there and breath it in also.
Great video as ever Steve and Alicija. Have a great Christmas. All the best and here's to more great content in 2023 👍🙂🌲⛄🎁
Merry Christmas from the southern hemisphere
Merry Christmas you both deserve a great 2023 Thank you

Merry Christmas Steve. Thanks for the videos this year. Conclusion of 2022, Scotland beats Gibraltar, every day of the week.
Just before Blairgowrie, did you notice the World's tallest hedge?
@@V8VORLICH Maybe rephrase this - they should have visited the tallest hedge just outside of Blairgowrie, since it was so close.

Bit of a geeky question, but what kind of tyres do you run on the van? All seasons?
Sadly, we're not very good at that in UK (less so than our European neighbours!) So just regular tyres

Lovely, peaceful and good selection of background music. Merry Christmas from Arizona!
What a beautiful video. Who needs to travel when we have Steve? Your humour is wonderful! Thanks!!!🇨🇦
Superb video. The barmaid shows potential, don't you think?
Cheers Scott! Haha as long as those measures are getting filled to the brim, everything will be okay 🤣
Great video…I love the Scottish stuff the most❤❤❤. Happy Christmas to you both🎄🎄🎄 and a huge thank you.☃️☃️☃️
JUST beautiful to look at, and you 2 as daft as ever,
Thanks for some amazing vlogs this year.
Much more scenic with a light dusting as apposed to full covering👍 hence no traffic or skiers...atvb for2023
As someone who's currently experiencing a 'proper' winter (check the BBC's North America headlines) I'll take your beautiful version any day. Happy Christmas!
These road trips are so special and the icing and sugar on the hills make it that much more magical. Thanks Steve for another wonderful video. Looking forward to 4K videos in future.
it’s -10C here and i’m watching wintery weather in Scotland…something must be wrong with me 🤣

You certainly have got Scotland right .
Brill vlog Steve ... just the thing to get everyone in the Christmas mood!🤗
