  • A quick test of the Mavic 3 zoom (explore) feature. This is unedited footage, straight out of the camera. The drone was hovering at 200 feet.
As can be seen, it was done on a typical British winter day, overcast, miserable but more importantly just before sunset, not the best time of the day for light to carry out such a test.
Although pixelated, you can still make out things in the distance. I have measured the distance, via Google maps, to several points and included the measurements on the video.
The furthest object away is Jodrell Bank at just over 13 miles away. Although blurry, you can still see the structure of the telescope, which is 250 ft (76m) in diameter.
As you know when hand holding a pair of binoculars or a hand held telescope, it's very difficult to keep it aimed at something at any distance away, hence why tripods are invaluable. I am amazed that a drone blowing around in a bit of wind can hold it's aim on a subject at such a distance, amazing.
