2014 Preakness Stakes - California Chrome + Post Race

- Steven Coburn and Perry Martin's California Chrome kept Triple Crown hopes alive with a smooth trip victory in the $1.5 million Preakness Stakes (gr. I) at Pimlico Race Course May 17.
With wins in the Preakness and Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I), California Chrome will head to New York for the Belmont Stakes (gr. I) June 7 and a chance to become the first Triple Crown winner since 1978.
With Victor Espinoza riding for trainer Art Sherman, California Chrome got a trip similar to that in the Kentucky Derby; he rated just off the early leaders, bid on the far turn, made the top and drew away to victory. At the finish the Lucky Pulpit colt had 1 1/2 lengths on fast-closing Ride On Curlin, who was 6 1/2 lengths ahead of third-place finisher Social Inclusion. General a Rod was fourth.
The time for 1 3/16 miles on a fast track was 1:54.84.

I grew up 1 mile from Los Alamitos Track, California Chrome's home. It's about 4 miles from the beach and a wonderful place for him. Am praying for this beautiful horse, humble rider, and wonderful trainer and owners. Can't wait until he's the Triple Crown winner. All of Cali sends their love!!
Last Triple Crown Winner was Affirmed in 1978. That was before I was born. This is the first year I've really followed horse racing. And there might already be a Triple Crown winner. Go Chrome. I'm sure everyone in the country is rooting for you.
My favorite of all time!!! Still love you CC!!! From Buena Park CA USA
For all those who were saying he wasn't fast, stick that one right in your EYE!
GBeret83 That is correct!
Alexander Faraday What did that have to do with CC's final time?
LOVE watching this video over and over. SO happy Chrome is retired and working on his stud book of mares! AND will shuttle to Chile to work on another stud book there. GO CHROME. The more babies he makes this first year really counts. I'm sure he'll do great. Would LOVE to hear more about him but Taylor Made actually does a great job keeping us updated. I miss watching CC work out and race BUT so happy he retired safely and is loving his new job. :D GO CHROME
It would be lovely to see a Triple Crown Winner. It's been a long, long time. . . .
Such a pleasure it is to see an owner bear all in front of the entire world and not just saunter around glad handing as if it was they who'd just pushed a boulder up Mount Everest and ran it back down again on their back. If ever there was a horse to rescue the Triple Crown trophy from the attic, California Chrome is the one.
got goosebumps. Lets go Chrome break that dry spell.

YES HE CAN DO IT! we have now a NEW SECRETARIAT in 21st CENTURIES..name as CALIFORNIA CHROME a PERFECT SEVEN for SEVEN to a TRIPLE CROWN CHAMPION!
pennyondime95 I sincerely hope we have a new triple crown winner but a new Secretariat. No. Not unless he can pull off the Belmont in 2:24 flat with a 31 length lead. No one has come close to beating any of his records for his triple crown races. And his race record is far from perfect. He has 12 races, 8 wins, one second place finish, one 5th place finish, and two 6th place finishes. He is currently on a 6 race winning streak not a perfect record.
Shannon Terrill What I am saying is Perfect Seven of SEVEN from the start of his career as Horse race the road to the Triple Crown Champion * Like Seven Days a week! This will be a NEW SECRETARIAT in a 21st Centuries..California Chrome! I was Dismayed with the horse of I ll have Another for not competing in BELMONT but instead the owner Sold that horse to the outsider ! :) Wow ! SPORT of KING & HOBBY of a KING...is my weakness.....
Shannon Terrill , You're absolutely spot on there, Shannon Terrill. I've followed thoroughbred racing, worldwide, for nearly 40 years now. I've seen some fast horses on dirt in America and on turf in Europe, but none of them have come remotely close to the time Secretariat put up for 12f in the 1973 Belmont Stakes, and I don't expect to ever see it happen in my lifetime. That was God showing off in equine form that day, IMO.
GBeret83
1973 Belmont Stakes just only Five HORSES a short Fields that almost NO CHALLENGES to beat to the SUPER HORSE (SECRETARIAT)and still questionable the real time of GREAT HORSE ! ZENYATTA is more likely the BEST of 19 out of 20 and was beaten only one time by a NECK in 2010 BREEDERS CUP CLASSIC ( 12 Horse fiields and DEAD LAST still in the HOMESTRECH trying to catch BLAME!! SUPER HORSE ZENYATTA! A female horse too..BEAT the BIG BOYS!
goes to show you California Chrome has the heart to do anything, may you rest up and be in top physical and mental condition for the belmont! Kisses and hugs from the state of Idaho!!!!! Great job DAP!!!!!!!!! You have made a champion!!!!!
Saw him run in Ca in April and knew he was a WINNER! Go Chrome, we'll be rooting for you!!!
Regardless of what happens in the Belmont Stakes you simply cannot take it away from California Chrome, this horse is a big time gamer! He's returned one hell of an investment for the connections who have just slightly over $10,000 invested in him. If Art Sherman can get 12f out of this horse in 3 weeks time at Belmont Park there's not a doubt in my mind California Chrome has the kind of class it takes to become a Triple Crown winner, and lord knows America is sorely in need of one of those. If he stays healthy for the long haul you'd also have to consider California Chrome as being a very live contender for this year's G1 Breeders Cup Classic in November at Santa Anita given he's already shown he likes the surface there having won the G1 Santa Anita Derby, G2 San Felipe Stakes, & California Cup Derby over the surface. Congrats to the connections and trainer Art Sherman for the magnificent job he's done with the horse that in blue blood breeding circles came from "the wrong side of the tracks." Proof that it doesn't always take breeding high dollar broodmares to multi-million dollar stallions to produce the gamest of champions!!!
If he wins the TC chances are he'll be retired to stud right after it. The insurance on the horse would be insane.
Jemsters1 , I could be wrong mate, but if this horse wins the Triple Crown I don't think his connections would retire him without giving him a shot at the BC Classic first. They've already shown it's not about money with California Chrome when they turned down $6 million dollars for 51% interest in him, before he even won the Kentucky Derby. But TJMO.
Jemsters1 This guy doesn't have the classic blue blood breeding breeders want so odds are he will stay in training next year. I would run him if he were my horse.
goforwand31
You would???????? For God's sake why... So you would risk $70 million in stud fees {at least} to continue racing? If he wins the triple crown he may do the Breeders cup which will be at Santa Anita where he has already won at. I guess having Pulpit, Mr. Prospector, AP Indy, Seattle Slew, Danzig and Secretariat in your bloodlines isn't classified as "Blue Blood" in your eyes. This horse retires as a 3 year old and produces babys the rest of his non blue blood life...lol. It's better to keep your mouth closed and not be perceived a fool than to open it and remove all doubt....
Jin Ward Oh and Kevin....another non Blue Blood is in California Chrome........the number one producing Sire of all time NORTHERN DANCER...his stud fees were $1,000.000.00 that's ONE MILLION DOLLARS...me thinks you and I have different definitions of blue blood
solo una carrera mas california, te espera la gloria y la historia. suerte campeon, arriba santa anita
What ride by Victor Espinoza!
Great coverage of this grand race. Can't wait 'til Belmont race. Go California Chrome - Go Victor!!!
BALTIMORE - A victory away from horse racing's first Triple Crown in 36 years, trainer Art Sherman at least raised the possibility Sunday morning that California Chrome might not run in the June 7 Belmont Stakes in New York if racing officials there won't let him wear the nasal strip he's worn in his last six victories in a row.
In 2012, I'll Have Another was the last horse to win the Derby and Preakness. He had worn nasal strips but his handlers were told he couldn't wear one in the Belmont. They were preparing to do so until I'll Have Another was scratched with a leg injury the day before the race.
WISHING THE ULTIMATE BELMONT SUCCESS FOR ESPINOSA, SHERMAN, THE CONNETIONS, BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY THE CHAMPION "CALIFORNIA CHROME"
Secretariat best race horse that ever lived hands down
Great win, now just a case of seeing whether he can stay in 3 weeks time, but at least the TC is still alive.
That was a great ride as well, gave CC all the chance he needed to show if he was good enough, and he was.
Awesome! Say a pray for a Belmont Win.
NICK ZITO horse always a Dangerous one for 1 1/2 mile Race.....
pennyondime95 Da'Tara! Lemon Drop Kid!
bnegs521
BIRDSTONE a long SHOT befoe de TARA!
Birdstone great win too. I am not sure Zito has anyone this year to send. I think he is sitting this one out.
bnegs521
WE WILL SEE it...ANYWAY any horse from BELMONT to challenge CALIFORNIA CHROME this time they gonna loss this year.. CALIFORNIA CHROME and my EXACTA is HORSE FROM BELMONT! NO BOX..
People keep saying "well I don't like him much", and I think personally, that it adds to his attraction. he is so ordinary. if you think about it all of the "underdogs" who rose up to win the triple crown, most were not really underdogs. they all had power, and were interesting to look at. they were the definition of a powerdul race horse.
He is ordinary. he is not big. he is poor, and he is not from breeding quality. this makes him my favorite for sure. and he sure is a smooth runner too...he might not pull it off, and he also might. but I definitely like him all the same for being ordinary.
I find it funny that you would think he's ordinary. A 10,000 dollar horse doing what he's done? That's far from ordinary. He was also the favorite in like the last 7 races he's been in. He went in to the derby as the favorite to win. What a true underdog.
Good points, Mac. But he wasn't really a $10,000. horse. His dam was purchased for $8k, and they bred her to a stallion with a $2,500. stud fee, but to compare the price to the yearling sales where most buy their racing prospects, we would have to add in the board and other expenses to get Chrome to the fall of his yearling year - sale time - which is nearly 2 years from when his dam was bred to Lucky Pulpit.
The only ordinary thing about Chrome that I can see is the people who bred and owned him. (The breeder is the owner of the dam (female parent of an animal) at the time of mating, who also choose the sire). Chrome is not big, but his conformation (structure and proportions) is excellent, and his stride is exceptionally smooth and effortless. That is part of why we all enjoy watching him run so much, isn't it? And he has a good temperament. He wants to run, but he is kind, calm, and co-operative. Looking forward to seeing his foals run!
Winning the Kentucky Derby is an accomplishment in its own right. So is winning The Preakness. Or The Belmont Stakes. Yes.winning the Triple Crown is special, but these days we too often forget how special it is just to win any of those races.
"The Kentucky Derby? There is no an adjective able to describe its greatness"
Jose Gregorio Guillot
Venezuelan horse racing analyst and radio producer
"It's the best race of the country and perhaps of the world. If you win a race like the Kentucky Derby, what else can you ask for?"
John Charles "Jack" Van Berg
Hall of Fame Trainer
Best regards from Venezuela 🇻🇪
I couldn't be happier. A horse that wants to win, I love it. And figures sort of a mutt, with that big heart that pure breds don't always have
If you take a not-so-fabulous pup from a pedigreed champion and mate it with another not-so-fabulous pup from another pedigreed champion (same breed), you have as much chance of coming up with a champion as if you had bred the pick of the litters. CC's bloodlines are stellar, just not close in. He might be just a bit unique, but certainly not unheard of when you think of the thousands of foals each year with 'stellar' parents, yet do nothing themselves, it's a testament to the ability to still carry forward with great genetics.
Hmmm, I do not know about Belmont considering the possibility of running without his normal nasal strips. I really do not think the extra quarter mile is as much a factor as others though. But my goodness that horse is proud and wants to win. He has that drive and that presence of mind as to where his competitors are.
Cannot wait for the Belmont, only 1 in 3 who win the first two legs of the Triple Crown, but this horse IS THE ONE IN THREE!
What a great story behind this horse! DAP I will be routing you on at the Belmont! This colt deserves the triple crown California Chrome all the way!
You can never really tell if a horse can get twelve furlongs, as many great horses have struggled with the extra distance. However, he's an incredible horse who has learned to rate beautifully, and I hope he does take the TC and remains healthy for the rest of the career. The winning connections seem like great people too.
Come on CC at Belmont. Gorgeous horse. This one is a proud stud.
this was one of the best preakness I've seen.. the top 3 Jockeys rode a heck of a race.. My favorite jock Rosario rode a great race in defeat.. Luis Contrares rode a great race also by not putting social Inclusion off the pace and challenge the chrome.. but the Chrome is a really good horse im rooting for him all the way... triple crown time
While I respected the talent, CC was not my horse in the Derby, but he has won me over with these two fantastic races, & I'll be pulling hard for a Triple Crown! Go get that Belmont, Victor & Chrome!
If you watch Art and Steve when they're watching the end of the stretch, you can read their lips and Steve is saying "Come on, Junior!" and Art is saying "Go, Junior!" Gotta love it!! ♥
good job CC! you have represented california well. now bring home the triple crown!
@ Rowdy...ditto!! Go Chrome..#Calif. #chromies
Go Chrome,win that Belmont!
My life will be complete if I know the fact I lived to see a Triple Crown winner. I've seen Zenyatta,Frankel,Black Caviar,Makybe Diva
Lets add a triple crown to that list shall we? :3
I watched this. As SOON as Chrome broke out the gate, I knew he was going to win it. He broke out perfectly. I actually had Ride on Curlin for the Derby but Chrome is the real deal and won me over for this race.
Chrome is a speed horse which worries me for the Belmont. I don't know how well he would be for a distance race. I heard Danza and Wicked Strong will be there too.
These races make me emotional.
Never loved a horse as i love chroomy ❤️❤️❤️❤️
My gosh look at that horse RUN!!!!!!!!!!!!...Go California Chrome!
The best race i've watch.! One over two in the last stretch...
Go Chrome Go!!! On to Belmont for the chance at the Triple Crown!!!
He might not be able to run in the Belmont.
Watching this video again. Chrome is THE most remarkable outstanding horse...four years in a row....that I've ever seen. The hurdles that got thrown in his way HE made up for himself. He's loved racing every year too. I miss seeing him out there in races this year BUT soooo glad he's out of the racing business now. He looks great now. And look at the fun he's having too. He's a happy boy. It's such a shame Matterhorn did that. Those two seconds he slammed Chrome and took the bulb off the back of his right foot....cost him the crown. What a shame. Planned? who knows. Probably . If any horse deserved it and WORKED for his money.....it's Chrome. OH well. He did great anyway with out the crown.
Can't wait to see the Chrome babies.
Go CALIFORNIA CHROME =D speaking of triple-crown history, seen DERBY BRED for iPhone? Featuring every race, horse, pedigree, and team ... since 1867. Now proudly available on the App Store.
Amazing horse. Great ride.
this is great. NBc did a good job on this broadcast. I'd love to have the full broadcast too.
Put big money on Ride On Curlin this Saturday.
I hit the trifecta on this!! It was only chump change payout but I was pumped! I must say, Ride On Curlin may have placed, but he made me look smart in front of my family! LOL! He did EXACTLY what I predicted him to do come out charging in the final stretch just like Curlin did in 07. He is his father's "child".
I'm already getting nervous just thinking about the possibility CC is THE one.....
This guy is the "Poor Mans' Horse," and I can't envision anyone(the owners & trainer) of being more deserving -- evidently they did something right! N'est--ce pas?(French for Isn't it so!). You WILL be a BIG fan of this horse after Saturday, June 6th, 2014 -- it's in his stars! :)
What a thrilling horse. I LOVE HIM!!!!!
Coincidence that California Chrome and Secretariat shared the same number in the same race and both emerged victorious? Bring home the gold, lucky number 3
Vamos por la Triple Corona!
huge cc fan here so I want to see him win the TC.. did anyone notice how social inclusion and ride on curlin kinda slowed each other down on the stretch? replay the stretch any thoughts?
Churchill could learn from Pimlico....LOL. best interview in the Preakness winner circle n decades.
Great race,I hope that California Chrome wins at Belmont and take the Triple Crown but Wicked Strong si a important opponent!
I really thought that Dynamic Impact was going to play a bigger role in this race. Watch out for Tonalist & Danza in the Belmont Stakes. California Chrome will definitely have to earn it.
GENIUS
Great horse, great win. Now on to "Big Sandy" on June 7.
Gwaaaan Chrome! Take the Triple Crown!
I hope he wins the triple crown, but in recent years so many have won the first 2 legs and stumbled at the Belmont so I'll keep my fingers crossed.
It's a pity that horses that ran in the Derby and not the Preakness or perhaps neither but qualifies can run in the Belmont. It hardly seems fair. If races consist of the coveted Triple Crown then you shouldn't be allowed to drop in on one of the races, be it the second or third, and ruin a shot for a horse that is running on a grueling schedule. It's hardly the 'test of champions' if some of the competition is fresh while others are not. May he be the little horse that could.
Shannon Terrill That is one of the reasons why the Triple Crown is so elusive and coveted! If it was easy or fair, then it wouldn't be special.
We have the new Triple Crown Winner! #CHROMIES
He may not have won the Belmont, but if California Chrome gets to Santa Anita race fit and healthy in November, he'll win the Breeders Cup Classic! Mark it down, sure as sunshine. You could make the argument he was just as impressive over Santa Anita's surface in the San Felipe Stakes & Santa Anita Derby as he was at Churchill Downs in the Kentucky Derby or at Pimlico in the Preakness, IMO.
Does anybody know how tall CC is ? I read that he was approximately 17 hands. Can anybody confirm this ?
Nice Horse
Cool!
California Chrome is really good
I love this HORSE!! GO CHROME
Haha his brother. Respect cali chrome wins the triple crown. Absolute stallion
que caballo, sin comentarios,amen smc
Hope its the new triple crown winner
Plus California Crome is in Seattle Slews blood line. Slew is Cromes great grear grandfather
I see now what so many people, a lot of horse guys/gals, are talking about when speaking of what a terrible trip...and just plain bad luck Genera a Rod got in this race. Ria Antonia pretty much just stopped completely in front of him going into the far return...with G.A.R. having no where to go but back. I liked him as a live long shot in the KY Derby, considering his breeding and past performances, and will probably bet a chunk of change once again on him in the Belmont. He's bred to get 12 furlongs just as much as any other horse in the field. JMO!
His father Lucky Pulpit is the son of Pulpit (sire) which is the son of A.P. Indy (sire) and Preach (dam). A.P Indy is the son of Seattle Slew (sire) and Weekend Surprise (dam). Weekend Surprise is son of tadda... Mr. Belmont himself... Secretariat. To add the cherry on top.. lets go back to Preach, his grandfather's mom... she is the daughter of Mr. Speed himself... Mr. Prospector. In Jamaica we had a full blown replica of Mr. Prospector.. his son... Texas Prospector... what a horse he was... sired many A class horses...
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe CC is the Great Great Grandson of Seattle Slew thru his mothers blood line. I need to look this up to make sure.....If this is true, it would explain why CC is such a great horse :) Go Chrome!!
bubblinbrownsugar616 Well, I was close, LOL......Great bloodline! Cannot wait for the next race!! :)
***** Great info on CC's bloodline Mark thanks for posting. Although not as big as Big Red he reminds me of Secretariat with the stocking feet and beautiful copper/chesnut color. You know they say the gene that producess the oversized heart like Secratariat, Sham and Phar Lap had are passed on thru the mothers gene pool. With CC's mother being Weekend Surprise and her father being Secretariat CC may have the big heart as well. He certainly in my opioion has the blood of the greatest race horse to ever run (Secretariat) and hopefulluy will have some of the magic as well! I will be pulling for CC in the Belmount.
Oddly enough, Secretariat is in his bloodline. However, he cannot possess the enlarged heart gene as it goes through the female line and his relationship to Secretariat is through the male line. Who he really reminds me of, not in color but in size and how he runs, is his great great grandsire, Northern Dancer. I think everyone might be overlooking him. California Chrome is built a great deal like him and if you watch his races they run the same.
IronClad292 I work at a horse track in Portland, Oregon. I'm also excited for the next race. CC has a heat chance to win the Triple Crown. Last time was in 1978. Too long; so go CC.
Great great grandson of Seattle Slew on his sire's side (Grandsire is Pulpit who is a son of A.P. Indy who is a son of Seattle Slew). He also has Buckpasser 5x5 on his dam's side and Swaps 6x6. 5x5 means 5th generation back on both sire and dam's side. There are at least 4 TC winners altogether in his pedigree: War Admiral, Count Fleet, Secretariat, and Seattle Slew. The first two are pretty far back, of course. All of that is just part of it. Lots of other fabulous horses in there, too, closer in.
Bring back Tom Durkin, no one stirs your emotions like Tom, good luck to all involved with California chrome, lets hope he wins the Belmont.
I love you 😙💕💕 always ❤️
"This is why 'Ride on Curling' will win the Belmont this afternoon! He could have won this one as well, but they had to go and Cheat again!!"
I think this horse has the stamina to go the distance. Espinosa started his move at the half mile marker…a lot to ask of a horse to go the distance….go cali chrome!
Iron Clad, you are correct, CC's blood lines include Seattle Slew, AP Indy and Secretariat just to name a few! There have been numerous comments about the slow run times in the Derby and the Preakness. Later interviews of the jockey indicate there was no need to push the horse to run faster in either the Derby or the Preakness as it was obvious to him that it wasn't necessary. Considering the Belmont Stakes is around the corner, I believe it was a wise decision. The Belmont is the graveyard of horse racing and CC will need to pull from within with everything he has to win this race. Go Chrome!
Lory Horn 9/17/20 now. I much appreciate your comment. CC won with command, no need to be a "show-off." With only 3 weeks to the Belmont, "grandstanding" would probably have assured a loss.
I hope California Chrome wins the Belmont? I have never seen a triple crown in my lifetime.
2:50 aww:)
Ride On Curlin gave it a good go.
As I predicted the night before the Belmont Stakes (see below), California Chrome lost. My betting pick was Tonalist, the actual winner. Although my second pick finished mid-pack. It amazed me how emotions led many to pick a horse with a terrible sub 1-1 payout. Implying nearly 70% chance of winning despite 10 other horses against him! Tack on Chrome's less rested jockey who opted to do Letterman, throw out the baseball at Yankee stadium and countless interviews the couple days before the race instead of focus and rest. Tonalist dominated the recent Peter Pan and had a jockey with a great record at Belmont. Unlike Chrome's jockey who had won only 2 of his 67 Belmont races and never perfected that track distance. Do you homework and do not let emotions drive you!
Reading all these comments im surprised how much americans focus on comparing times from different days of racing, it doesnt work that way guys
These so called experts in horse racing said California horses can't match up to the East Coast horses. CC do your thing at Belmont, and "school" these million dollars horses in three weeks. We couldn't asked for a better athlete to represent-SoCal!!!
@crenshawboy, I live in Kentucky and know how stuffy these wealthy blue blood breeders in this state are, and it doesn't get any better when you go to New York. I also think it's awesome that a horse like California Chrome has come along that proves that it doesn't always take breeding top dollar broodmares to multi-million dollar stallions to produce the gamest of champions!!
socal my ASS!!! I think you mean NORCAL crenshawboy.
I hope they let him run and he doesn't pull out if they rule he can't wear nasal strips. The thing that gets me is that harness racers in New York state are allowed to wear them while racehorses aren't. That simply makes no sense. No other state has an issue with them at all.
Venckman
Thank You,@M.A Peavy,. north-south crap, very childish ...
Mary Ann Pevey norcal? This horse was borne in central valley 559 . Valley borne, valley feed!
The trainer did not spill one drop of beer while he celebrated.
beyer say 103?
I would like to see a true triple crown race with only horses that qualified for the Kentucky Derby. Instead of letting fresh horses into the field.
"He's a real racehorse.." Condsidering he has BOTH Secreatiarite and Seattle Slew bloodlines, I think Big Red was running within California Chrome right now :-)
5:15 is the best
Who's that one horse at the side at 0:01
I think they are called "outriders". They wait by the sidelines to step in and help if a horse gets loose or out of control during a race.
K
27 hours until Belmont Stakes tomorrow night, but I expect California Chrome to not win. Despite being the heavy favorite at 3-5 odds and media guaranteeing it, Chrome might not have the stamina and fall too far behind after first turn. 2 other horses out of the 11 will likely win. Triple Crown likely remains elusive until breeders turn back to both stamina and speed, not just speed focus. I hope I am wrong and Chrome wins Triple Crown after 36 year drought.
Do yoy thinks the the catolcs are a pioled
Cmon Horse people, stop livin in the past this is now
I sure as hell hope Chrome doesnt scratch but it looks like it will probably happen. :(
i think it is mean the wips and bits bridels and girthes saddles to all of thees things heart the pore horses
Medal Count over Samraat California Chrome will finish 3rd...
Gate 2.
A PUSH BUTTON HORSE and a NEW SECRETARIAT of 21st Centuries..CALIFORNIA CHROME! but watch out for TOP BILLING!
Ahhhhhh so they pulled a penny chenery used the mothers bloodline to make a champion while most choose to put more weight into the sire. Brilliant!!!!
Could this be our Triple Crown boy? Throwing my hope in the ring again. Back in the 70's, when 3 horses won (Secretariat in '73, Seattle Slew in '77 and Affirmed in '78) the critics said the TC might be "too easy." 36 years later, we're still waiting. I'm ready for the long drought to be over. (P.S. Do you know who beat two Triple Crown winners in one race? Exceller. In the 1978 Jockey Club Gold Cup, Exceller defeated Seattle Slew and Affirmed. Amazing race. Check out Excellerfund.org for more). COME ON CHROME!!
AzeriZ1 9/17/20 now. I much appreciated your informative, interesting...nice post.
I say 2-5 fave, for the Belmont, don't bet against him, or bye bye money.
dam gals, guys---its an owner(s)/ Trainers call, for a horse to run
hmmm,, jockey seems so shaky!! i love cc but...
