What he's saying is true. I was in a semi successful band. We opened for big-name bands. We were not allowed our own sound engineer. We had to use theirs. They would be sabotaging our sound on purpose. It's just paying your dues. But it sucks when they turn on the house lights on purpose as a buzz kill when we were up on stage. Never made it big, and I was happy to open in a few arenas. Rock on 🤘

It’s so weird how many stage moves WASP took from Kiss. Watch the Wild Child video and you see the other guitarist primp his hair like Stanley and Blackie does a lot of moves like both Gene and Paul. Sad because KISS should’ve been honored because WASP are amazing

In 1991 on a Sunday night at the Lime Light Rock n' Roll Church in NYC, I saw Blackie Lawless hanging out. That night I told Blackie years prior when I saw them open up for KISS on the Animalize tour at the Brendan Byrne arena in Rutherford NJ. I said to Blackie "you guys were GREAT, and blew Kiss right off the stage". Yes Blackie did appreciate that.

So WASP got invited to open and made a bunch of demands that essentially made them co-headliners.
Not a smart move to get a big head when you're the opening band. lol. For a VERY Brief moment yes, WASP was very popular, Wonder why it didn't last, they seem so humble lol.

They were " cool" to the opening act when they knew they could blow them away..that was definitely the case throughout the 70s. I'm sure they changed their additude about it during the 80s when they found themselves following trends. I totally believe this story because around Animalize W.A.S.P . was young and hungry. They would have killed kiss and their Golden Girls costumes......outfits

KISS was the band that got me into rock/metal. The first album I ever owned was KISS Dynasty. I got it for my 4th birthday. The first concert I ever went to was KISS. I was fortunate enough to see Hot In The Shade and many years later, to see the farewell tour. However, Chris isn't the only one who says this type of stuff about Gene and Paul. For example, the story from the drummer in B.O.C. about how Paul thought he was Gods gift to the world. Also, the late great Neil Peart from rush saying that Ace and Peter were damaged by Gene and Paul's cynicism. Then, the fact that they didn't even invite Bruce to do ANY songs for their last concert makes me think all of those stories are likely true. I can KIND OF understand not inviting Ace and Peter because of all the past bad blood. However, Bruce has always been loyal to those two as well as the KISS brand and that's how they treat him?? Yhea, FK those guys. I am now MUCH more inclined to believe this story from Chris.

Queensryche opened for Kiss when I saw them on The Animalize tour. No arena either, Henry J. Kaiser held 7,500 for a concert. W.A.S.P. played on the Asylum tour at The Cow Palace opening for KISS, it was a 15,000 seat arena and there was only 6,000 people there.

The first time i saw Kiss was on the Crazy Nights tour and it wasn't even close to a sell out. They played San Luis Obispo,an amphitheater,it had about half seats sold,so about 2500 out of four or five thousand. Kiss weren't too amused either. When they hit the stage I remember Paul looking over at Gene with a really bad look on his face, not a happy camper when he saw all those empty seats. But they kicked ass, what a show. So I'll give them that,oh and Anthrax opened for them and yeah,no contest. They owned the stage that night. But Kiss were great,my first time seeing them in 1988,I walked away pretty happy.

It's a trip to hear how different the Country can be when it comes to concert attendance. In SLC, and Denver, KISS was playing to full if not sold out arenas for lick it up, Animalized. By Crazy nights, it was becoming smaller. Kiss did pack Red Rocks at that time, but from then to the reunion they had pretty much disappeared. The convention time I was in Dallas and there they had some interest, but lots of it came from rumors Pete, or Ace might be there. Us metal heads have chewed a lot of the same dirt, in different states. Lol. Party on Doc,

I can definitely relate to Chris’ story. When the Plasmatics were asked to open for KISS on the Creatures of the Night tour we were promised a soundcheck every night. From the first show KISS was always taking up all the allotted time so we couldn’t sound check. Finally at a show in Detroit KISS got done and said the stage was all ours. We ran in stage, plugged in, and just as we were ready to hit the first chords we saw that the doors had opened and fans started streaming into the arena. We high tailed it off the stage and never did get to sound check. We never got a sound check for the entire tour and I don’t think I heard a single note I played on the whole tour. We were getting better reviews than they were and Paul was not a fan of Wendy plus coupled with new guitarist Vinnie Vincent added up to keep us off stage. Very disappointing.
