- The United States Marine Band performs The Stars and Stripes Forever by John Philip Sousa. Played at the Congressional Cemetery, Washington for the Sousa Birthday ceremony. Major Jason Fettig is the director.

@vaq33ens they do have a middle school arrangement but my friend is really hard head and persistent. hes actually got the song down a little but he just doesnt like the piccolo solo.
When this plays while you are on marching review, you almost feel like you want to go to double time. It is a treat to march to.
The piccolo is very good, but the clarinets won today.

my friend not evn full year player and he plays the flute pretty well. hes trying to play this version of the song. any ways u think he can accomplish it? i support him in his effort all the way.
Does the Marine Band have a "full orchestra" like the other branches or are they strictly marching band?

@YouMooks November 6 is Sousa's birthday. The band played three marches plus the National Anthem. Their portion of the event lasted about 30 minutes. Check the band's website for exact times, etc.
@peepzstar Practice, practice, practice. Or you could search for an arrangement that simplifies the piccolo part; maybe a middle school arrangement.
@david640 The Marine Band includes a "chamber orchestra" of about 18 string players. Most of their performances are at the White House. Go to the Marine Band website for more information.

That was the cleanest piccolo solo I have ever heard played for this song! Even the trills were clear and the solo never sounded rushed, nor slurred! Awesome!
