    Nice to see a sand leveling video that doesn't involve a giant dump truck full of USGA spec sand. The only place I could find with it near me says they require a minimum of 10 cubic yards. There's probably some landscaping supply places around with adequate sand though. I just read an article about golf courses using a mix of 80% sand and 20% mushroom soil or peat moss. Mushroom soil/compost sounds like great stuff, since it's weed free and has some organic matter and water retention properties. Looks like my local Lowe's has some 1 cu ft bags for about $4.50, doesn't sound too expensive to try it out in some areas.

    Thank you so much for this fantastic and helpful video! I just wanted to respectfully mention that peat extraction releases substantial CO2, a greenhouse gas, contributing to climate change. Peatlands provide incredible benefits to the planet but are under threat due to over-production. For this reason, most European countries are slowly banning peat products. We should, too, and someone in your position could make a big difference by advocating for that! There are plenty of non-peat alternatives that work almost as well as peat-based products. The more people that use and ask for non-peat ones, the greater the commercial incentive to improve them further.
    Thanks for reading and hopefully considering this!

    Great video George. I'm not a big fan of potting mix in the lawn, mainly due to the white beads they use for moisture purposes. Those things take forever to breakdown. I rather use topsoil. It's generally cheaper, though there can be more ckunks. I find the "generic" bags from Home Depot and Lowe's work best. I used a landscape rake to level out my lawn for my renovation last season. If you have big piles of dirt and sand, the rake is super handy and knocking them down. Really informative video!

    i did mine with soil one time and it was hardest project ever. I hear that leveling with sand is a yearly thing - that is expensive! If ever level with sand, i'll do one small area by my patio for guests to walk on.

      the good thing about buying bags is you can level slowly over time and see how you like it, but i must warn you the results are addicting and you will find your self doing it all the time haha and yes soil is no bueno, you can mix a lil bit in but you really need that sand base

    • @PrincessCutLawnCare
      @PrincessCutLawnCare  8 місяців тому +1

      the advantage of potting soil is that there is little to no weeds seeds. garden soil is usually littered with weed seeds. you can def use the garden soil but just be prepared to have a good weed control strategy
