Thank you for the review! The Mi-8 seems to be at least better than the stuff MScenery is still allowed to publish on the Marketplace. But from what I saw, I am still not inclined to buy it. I could live without the autopilot if the rest was good, like the Cowansim helicopters. But compared to the work of HPG, FlyInside, Cowansim and Taog's Hangar, this looks clearly inferior.
Oh it's definitely better than anything MScenery have spammed the marketplace with. You can tell there's been some effort put in to make it resemble the Mi-8. But you're right, it still fails a long short of what it could be, which is a shame.
You mentioned HPG's proprietary flight model. That used to be true, but Hype moved to MSFS's native "CFD" helicopter flight model quite a while ago, and yet they've managed to get the autopilot to mostly work (which is saying something, b/c the H145's AP is quite complicated)
Interesting, I didn't realise they'd moved the nativs MSFS model. I found the AP in the H160 works much more smoothly than the H145, I'd be interested to see what the differences are under the digital hood. But if the same kind of AP could be implmented in teh Mi-8 it would be a real game changer for t his aircraft.
5:50 - This is why A2A simulations makes their addons as external software which only projects the aircraft into game. By this way they are not limited by in-game features.
I noticed this today on marketplace and i think im gonna wait for a couple updates to see what they do or for a really good sale price. I fee like some of the textures and sounds could be approved on. Are the crew members able to be disabled? Thanks for the video
I'd wait for a sale, the current price is too high IMO for what you get. You can hide the copilot but I'm nots ure about the others. If you don't close the cabin door then the engineer stays in the back. But most the time you're looking out the fround so you don't notice them and without the autopilot you can't can't afford to take your attention off flying for a second anyway.
@@flightsoficarusTrue. Thanks for your in-depth review it's hard to find a good one let alone any for new aircraft. Hopefully the autopilot and some MI8 updates come soon then I'll look towards buying it.
Limitations of Asobo helicopter flight model or not, the developer of this helicopter clearly doesn't know what he is doing. Casing point is attaching the external load on the hoist - it would take a special kind of idiot to do that in real life. That hoist, which is rated for 150 kg, is only used to hoist cargo and people while in hover. The flight dynamics also look way off the real thing. If you want to experience what flying a Mi8 feels like - get DCS and use force trim on cyclic and pedals a lot.
I think you're being very generous in your review, if you consider the got friends mini and the flyinside b47 are around the same price point. Poorly modelled, poorly textured no systems depth, basic flight model, very disappointing.

Nice video! Hey, Do you know what happens to DLC after MSFS 2024? Are they able to transfer without charge?
Thanks. My understanding based on all the updates I've seen is that all addons should transfer over without having to be repurchased.
