    Thanks for the great video. I have that same grapple and it may be the most work saving attachment I own. You can get a lot of work done with very little time and effort. I use mine for everything from moving tree logs and machinery to picking up large piles of leaves. Very versatile implement. Keep up the good work.

      I love it, well worth the long wait. Like you said extremely versatile for doing a little of everything! What kind of tractor do you run your wicked grapple on? 🍻

    Very good demonstration of the EA Wicked Root Rake Grapple! It looks like it the perfect tool for your clearing project. I just ordered a 66” Wicked Root Grapple yesterday from EA. I went with this model because we cut some firewood and the longer bottom tines are nice for moving firewood piles. I can see how the rake you have is very handy for clearing and back dragging. Grapples of any configuration are such an asset to any size tractor loader combination.

      Awesome Brian I’m sure you will love it! I love mine, I primarily use it for moving logs and brush and works great, the fact that I can use it for clearing as well is a bonus!

      @@DudeRanchDIY I need this to move logs around. Can you tell me what the largest log you could lift with this grapple?

    • @DudeRanchDIY
      @DudeRanchDIY  3 роки тому +2

      It opens to a full 36” so realistically I’d say it’ll lift a 32” log no problem, probably could work at it a bit to get one bigger in there as long as it’s nice and round!

    Shortening the intro a bit wouldn't hurt. 1:40 to get to the rake. Most people click off after more than 30 seconds of unrelated intro. Then you kind of ramble over two more minutes. Then your "hide the engine noise" music is too loud. I don't want to be adjusting the volume back and forth between operation and narration.
    But, you did give a good demonstration of the rake's abilities and limits, so you get a thumbs up!

    • @DudeRanchDIY
      @DudeRanchDIY  4 роки тому +2

      I really appreciate the feedback! Your username is fitting 😂 I agree the intro is too long, and I have been trying to improve on the volume aspects of my videos, all so far have been edited solely on my iphone but I finally just bought a laptop so that should help make things easier in the future!

    That grapple looks nice. I'm starting to look into tractors again and got to use a l2501 today. If I do get a tractor I will sure have to add that function. What do dealers charge to add the 3rd function to lever.

    Can that thing clear medium sized rocks too? Similar to the rock bucket with a grapple? As in push rocks into a pile and pick them up?

    • @DudeRanchDIY
      @DudeRanchDIY  3 роки тому

      Absolutely, I use it for picking up rocks all the time, it picks up pretty big boulders too as long as you can get a good bite on them.

  • @brianlahmeyer

    Nice vid but looks like the EA Grapple would be real vulnerable to knocking hoses off with brush loads sticking out everywhere, with no back plate like the Landpride for ex. just my 2 cents....

    • @DudeRanchDIY
      @DudeRanchDIY  3 роки тому

      I haven’t had any issues regarding this so far! I use the grapple to move piles of brush all the time, what I’m more worried about is the grille protecting the radiator on the tractor. The hoses on the grapple, while seemingly exposed, would take considerable effort to compromise during normal use.

    What HP is the tractor? Can you pick up 800 lbs tree trunks? Is a 35 hp strong tractor enough to install an 8 ft backhoe?

    • @DudeRanchDIY

      39hp yes 800lbs no problem. I pick up full IBC totes weighing in around 1,600-1,700lbs. No idea about the backhoe, I don’t have one.

    2 things you could’ve done so there’s no need for your toy

    ahahahahaha -- chain saw needs new gas without ethanol or a new plug - and / or an adjustment - and or all -- ahahahahaha - but i came to see an EA root rake at work - and 200 pounds sure is light for one - bending comes to mind - 4 minutes 45 seconds - rake finally moves - and hillbilly music I guess to be liked by some ? ! -- I like to hear tractors some -- ahahahaha - and those things were not made to have as much pressure as what the front of the tractor would weigh put on them - lifting off the ground is what is said NOT to do whatsoever - if yu catch something big - yu could do much damage to the rake or ever the front loader arms - a lot of people have - and putting the teeth more than 2 ins in the dirt will kill a lot of the roots from the trees yu wish to save - the weeds will just grow back really fast anyway -- doing it backwards as yu did a little is said to be the way it needs to be done - if at all - and if yu drop the little piles a couple of times before putting them into the big piles more dirt will remain where it come from - if ya have to rake forward - put the teeth further back toward the tractor so if they do catch something - they may roll over it so that no damage is done - good luck with doing it any other way - after 30 years yu learn a little - pretty orange tractor - looks much better than my grand L 3940 backhoe that is getting older -- ahahahaha - I only listen to blue grass when I am drinkin heavily -- ahahahahaha - but then I am pretty old -- and yea - I have been said to be a bit of a smart ss -- heehawed
