I like your idea of using plastic as a frame for your bag. Another good idea for this is to draw out some patterns for various splints ( ankle , finger arm ect. ) on the plastic itself so if you need a splint in a hurry you can cut out the pattern and use it on the fly. Also it will take up no more space or weight
Cool idea. I have thought about even lining a shoulder bag or backpack to prevent anything from rubbing or tearing a hole through the bag. It also helps to keep the bag's shape thus keeping all the contents very neat.
Without getting too deep into my thoughts on get home bags/bug out bags, I'd like to offer one bit of advice. One thing almost everyone overlooks, not all but most, when stuffing their bags with multiple versions of just about every "survival" item known to man is anything to take care of one of your most important survival item. Your feet. These bags tend to be overloaded with just about everything under the sun, but not one pair of spare cotton socks. Since most folks aren't used to putting on non-stop miles, blisters are a given. How about some moleskin in there? If you can't walk your get home is done, and nothing kills feet faster than wet sweaty socks inside a shoe or boot. Don't get me wrong, I actually rather like your setup and your organization. Still a little overdone in "my" opinion, but way better than many. Most guys tend to carry way way too much junk to be prepared for they're not sure what, but by god they're prepared for anything from alien invasion to 2012 style armageddon.
+T. Greening A big plus one for foot care. Spare pair of wool or synthetic socks and moleskin (or other blister control) for sure. I carry that in anything larger than an EDC.. Gotta keep those feet happy, plus socks can be gloves, filter water, etc..
+JohnReviewer112 pick your poison as far as socks go, but having spare dry socks is way more important than having the "right" socks. I'll take dry cotton over wet wool or synthetic any day.
+T. Greening Cotton socks are terrible for hiking and you need feet to survive WTHSTF so having the right socks is crucial. Cotton absorbs sweat, dries slowly, provides no insulation when wet and causes more blisters than proper socks. The military uses wool or a wool blend. Hiking socks are wool or synthetic or a blend.
+T. Greening Jee-zus.. You guys are so focused on being the "SHTF Experts" you are completely missing the point I was trying to make in the first place. Are cotton socks the best? No. Is it what I would choose if I had to make an extended hump somewhere? No. Is a spare pair of clean dry cotton socks better than no socks at all in your mythical shtf situation? Yes. And that was my point. All these preppers yacking on and on about their go bags. Get home bags. 72 hour bags, yada yada yada, packed full of every dang possible thing you could need to start a fire 15 different ways and 10 different knives, hatchets and saws so you can build your "survival shelter", and not one mention of a pair of spare socks. My opinion? Being prepared is a fantastic idea, half (more?) of preppers are fools dreaming a fantasy, and surviving has a whole lot more to do with what's going on between your ears than what you're carrying in your "get home bag". Good grief.
+T. Greening I've hiked thousands of miles and run daily and like any hiker I can tell you that cotton socks should never be in your pack. Cotton isn't theoretically slightly worse than wool for a hike, cotton is a well known Very Bad Idea. Those socks will ruin your feet in hot weather too from sweat. I gave you a very positive reply and explained it nicely and you can verify this ancient wisdom in 30 seconds online or you can learn the hard way if you ever hike more than a few miles. Take care of your feet and they will take care of you.
Good video, thanks for sharing. Just a tip, I use my plan B as mini mobile first aid station/truck first aid kit and I use a 36" x-large SAM splint in the back section of the pack to make it rigid. It fits perfect (folded in half) in the bladder section of the pack, plus if you're in need of a split, you have one.
Nice little bag kit. In your Leatherman Z Rex, The little hex hole is not the Oxygen bottle wrench. The wrench for oxygen is the rectangle in the blade next to cutting edge. Plus you can use your sign board to go grayman and put "Will work for Food. God Bless" on it. LOL. I actually did with Lexan.
Sleeping bag foam pad like the little cheep one's sold at Walmart cut to fit in the hydration bladder do a good job as a internal soft frame, and can be taken out for a seat on wet or cold days. Pair that up with a pad cut from reflectix (Lowes/Home depot).
Cool EDC. On another note, I've been happy with Walmart Family Mobile. The phones are decent, and the unlimited monthly plan is just under $50 a month.
I love the sling pack. But why have your whistle and handcuff key etc buried in a baggie in the bottom of the pack? And I get having your trauma kit on the outside, but why have simple bandaids buried? Won’t a simple cut bleed all over your stuff as you’re digging through it? And why don’t most kits include eye drops? And no poncho or rain jacket? Just curious. Have a great day.
The internal frame would be great to write on to let someone know a message with a sharpie also . You could also add a piece of yoga mat the same size as the internal frame that could double as a seat cushion.
Another great video, Sherman. Your anodized metal parts always look really cool. The Nite-Ize S-beener and Kershaw pocket clip are wicked. Would you ever consider doing a tutorial vid on how to heat-anodize? Thanks!
I really like the S.E.R.E pouch but it begs the question. What if your captor takes your entire kit? I'd prefer to have 4 micro kits "stashed" on my body somehow. 1 on each wrist, 1 in/on my footwear. For example, a small razor blade and handcuff key combo in each area for redundancy. That way you can get to them, no matter what position you are tied up in.
Just out of curiosity, I'm looking at putting on a few pouches on my Plan B which I bought because of your extensive reviews. Would you happen to be able to put up a comparison video of the "coyote" color versus the "tan" Maxpedition color by chance if you have anything laying around your place? I'm trying to match pouch colors to my coyote pack the best that I can. Thanks again for making these awesome review videos!
Awesome get home bag. very organized and well built. Do you have information on where you got a lot of the items and a general idea of how much this would cost? Thanks.
First off, you make some awesome videos. I was wondering which one you would recommend as a first aid pouch, Vanquest or ITS. I did notice a price difference between the two and was wondering if there was a drastic difference as far as craftsmanship or materials used.
Thank you! I appreciate that :) They are both great, and no, there aren't any huge differences except for the size. The ITS is more wide, which is a plus in my opinion. But, depending on what you want to put in it will determine which is better for you. As a small'ish, everyday first-aid kit, the Vanquest is great! For a trauma kit, I recommend the ITS. Both are very well made, and water resistant.
Would you happen to have any discount codes for Hazard 4 Plan B packs? I'm planning on buying one soon based on your review and how you have been using it!
Hanse Davion Thank you! And because it's the safest way to carry for self defense. It takes extra time to rack the slide to chamber a round, time you may not have. Plus, it takes both hands to do so. If your attacker has you pinned, then you can not chamber a round. The 1911 style of pistol has about 4 safeties, maybe more. most are internal, then the 2 external.
It is very safe. You CAN rack a round into the chamber and drop the hammer.. However, it's too hard to pull the hammer back into the cocked position one handed. It's not like it is in the movies haha. In the fractions of a second you have to react and draw your weapon, that would be a fatal way to carry it, it's too slow.
Hey Bud, I liked this video it's rather realistic, Thankyou. Also I absolutely love your Tshirt, as fellow christian, I would really like to get my hands on one of these, have you a link please. Much Appreciated. Stay Safe & God Bless Savvas
+Greg wolf Not stupid at all. Basically it's the difference between scraping you knee, or getting a small cut, and having to go to the ER. A trauma is usually something that is life threatening, or at least something that band-aids and some alcohol swabs can't fix, like needing stitches.
Sure am! And thank you very much! :) She's a dance teacher, and always wearing dance pants (with no pockets) plus, she works in schools a lot, so she can't really carry any blades unfortunately
The Izula usually runs for around $45-$55 (Depending on the website, and color) The Kydex sheath I have mine in does not come with them, a friend of mine made that for me. They normally come with hard nylon sheaths.
+Dantick09 All the time? No. It's a bugout bag for the most part, who uses their bugout supplies on a regular basis? I have used everything at least once to see how it works and test it out.
+sherman614 then why do you have the handcuff key so deep in your pack? How do you expect to use it to get out of handcuffs xD And the sere items need to be on your person not in labeled pouch.

if some say why do I carry so much stuff? I say how come you don't ? like those sheeple they're like anybody got a knife ? like everybody exists only to carry a knife just for you.i go like yes I do have a knife! ... if I don't have a junk knife on me I don't hand them one .they're like can use your knife ?yeah ! use can use a knife when you bring one .it's almost always one of those sheeple that don't think you need this that or the other thing .besides they can always borrow then they don't have to remember to bring anything .some one will right .oh then they say is that legal ? friggin sheeple !

I dig your idea with the retention paracord for the tape! Great vid.

Nice to see the ESS Crossbows. I have the older version as well as the ESS ICE and use them as sunglasses/driving glasses as well as shooters.
You chuckle like a young hank hill and I enjoy that
ITS FTW!! This is a really GREAT kit man, good job!!!

My backpack that seems perfect for climbing, a greeting
Cool EDC. On another note, I've been happy with Walmart Family Mobile. The phones are decent, and the unlimited monthly plan is just under $50 a month.
If you like shears, seatbelt cutter, glass breaker, and oxygen wrench check out the raptor by leatherman. Amazing they cut through a penny with ease
I love the sling pack. But why have your whistle and handcuff key etc buried in a baggie in the bottom of the pack?

Hey sherman great video. Really liking the hazard 4 bag. Have you seen the leatherman raptor shears? They have a glass breaker built in.
How do you think the hazard 4 would look being carried by a girl in more of a school/shopping every day bag? If so what color?
Really nice pack but still cant decide between this or the Vanquest Javelin VSlinger, any thoughts? Great channel btw :)
hi I have a question. do you think that me carrying my 357. hollow point would be over kill.?
Just out of curiosity, I'm looking at putting on a few pouches on my Plan B which I bought because of your extensive reviews. Sorry, I meant to say "khaki" for Maxpedition versus the coyote coloring...
Amazing video brother, and love the shirt
Awesome get home bag. very organized and well built. Do you have information on where you got a lot of the items and a general idea of how much this would cost? Thanks.
As no one else replied, I get my stuff from Amazon, eBay, a local Surplus store and Etsy, use EDC Survival bushcraft as a complete search term.
Congratulations! Perfect.
Hey man, what was the name of that fixed blade knife you had that looked like a scalpel?
First off, you make some awesome videos. I was wondering which one you would recommend as a first aid pouch, Vanquest or ITS. I did notice a price difference between the two and was wondering if there was a drastic difference as far as craftsmanship or materials used.

Do you still use the hazard 4 pack for your edc?
try lexan to stiffen the pack, it's like plexiglass but doesn't break, should be able to get it at any glass shop...
+Randy Yeager lexan is good, kydex would also be cool..
I love your t-shirt...can you tell me where I could find one like it?
Would you happen to have any discount codes for Hazard 4 Plan B packs? I'm planning on buying one soon based on your review and how you have been using it!
Ross S Awesome! I hope you like it as much as I do! And unfortunately I do not
good vid- like the bag- great t-shirt :)
good video, great kit, one question, WHY IS YOUR WEAPON COCKED !!!!!! ie the hammers is fully to the rear, not safe even with safety on !
Hanse Davion Thank you! And because it's the safest way to carry for self defense. It takes extra time to rack the slide to chamber a round, time you may not have. Plus, it takes both hands to do so. sherman614 Why not just rack it so You have a round in the chamber, then uncock the hammer?
Sounds like the 1911 have some pretty good safety features then. 😊
Who makes the monocular
what watch is that? :O
Very cool shirt sher,man
I got those ess sun glasses too. You get them in basic training for free or when you deploy lol
How much does the kershaw with the emerson wave feature cost?
There are 8 different models, each vary in price from around $30-$40
Mine (CQC-6k) ran me about $35
Hey Bud, I liked this video it's rather realistic, Thankyou.
Also I absolutely love your Tshirt, as fellow christian, I would really like to get my hands on one of these, have you a link please.
Much Appreciated. Stay Safe & God Bless
Savvas
I would have include your watch as judging from its size it probably does a little more than tell time
I know, I forgot in the video
OK I know I'm going to sound stupid but what's the difference between a trauma kit and a first aid kit
+Greg wolf Not stupid at all. Basically it's the difference between scraping you knee, or getting a small cut, and having to go to the ER. A trauma is usually something that is life threatening, or at least something that band-aids and some alcohol swabs can't fix, like needing stitches.
+sherman614 Thank you
Wheres the link for the patch?
SERE is a Navy term. All aircrew, SEALS and others who may get stuck in enemy territory go to SERE school
Wow, you are married? congratulation! Best wishes for the future! What knife does your wife edc?
Sure am! And thank you very much! :) She's a dance teacher, and always wearing dance pants (with no pockets) plus, she works in schools a lot, so she can't really carry any blades unfortunately

Oh thank you SO much brother :D
I appreciate it very much
THANKS
I dont think you have ever used any that :/
+Dantick09 All the time?
22:25 my god, that is sexy 1911 pistol
Those escape items wont help you buried in a bag. That should be on your everyday...
They are not really to "escape" as in escape form restraints. It is in the extremely unlikely event where I'm having to escape a situation or my current location.
I carry Camillus wedge pocket knife
EDC "pack"? Isn't that like military intelligence? Do you really carry that pack to the grocery store, movies, restaurant ? Still looking for a non fanny pack , murse, etc. to carry my essentials without bulging my pockets or wearing cargos like I am Johnny tactical. It's OK if your under 30 I guess or at work. Any ideas please post. But thank you for showing us what you carry. RESPECT!
Dan Wesson Check out the UTG messenger bag. There are a lot of good reviews on here about it and i recently bought it to start using for EDC. I have a plan for outfitting it with smaller pouches like in this video. I had to dump it the other day to use and a small Tactical Diaper Exchange pack when i went somewhere with my 9 month old and realized i left his big stoller behind an hour away and had to pick up a small umbrella stroller. The UTG is also great in that roll.
Dan Wesson check out the Bolstr Bag from Koyono, great bag for what you just mentioned. Add a maxpedition pouch with a few essentials and you're good to go. I also just backed KP sling at kickstarter... best bag I've seen in a while.
or if you want an alternative really cool looking bag, I just bought the NutSac Satchel. Grocery store, movies, and restaurant no problem! :)
Terrible holster, the release puts your finger right on the trigger. Not hard to find videos of people who have shot themselves using this holster.
Top 10
Are you skinny medics brother lol you could pass for brothers (just sayin lol)
It's not a flip phone
I'll give you $20 if you can have your hands handcuffed behind your back, and still get to that handcuff key.
+The Man Channel Lol it's more for if I know I might be in that situation, I'll get it ready, like a lot of the items in my bag.
+sherman614 Right on. They make a pretty cool one that is designed to clip on one of your belt loops behind your back. Pretty nifty idea, I'm think.
His watch is bigger then his head.
You really need to carry some food and water.
I do carry snack foods in it in my SERE pouch. Also, I'm mostly at work, and I always carry water with my at work.
extensive edc.
too many flashlights...
No such thing, 2 is 1, and 1 is none.
