Eye injuries leave little owls needing emergency care

A little Northern saw-whet owl sat frightened in the middle of a crowd at a busy winter fair in Toronto. Sara was among them, and quickly noticed he could only keep one eye open. The poor bird needed help…
Barbara was walking her dog and came across an Eastern screech owl on the street corner. The small bird wasn’t moving, and sat with his eyes closed. Knowing something was wrong, Barbara called the Wildlife Hotline…
Both owls were thankfully brought to TWC for emergency care - watch them get the urgent help they needed.

I didn't know we have saw whet owls in downtown Toronto. I've always been charmed by these little guys, and enjoyed their repetitive calls when I lived out in the bush. Thanks for rescuing and rehabilitating these owls.

Both owls are so sweet and small! You must've had so much fun with the little saw-whet... the poor little screech owl was suffering so much. Thank you for caring for both, aiding in their healing and recovery and giving them a second chance at life. I look forward to hearing how the screech owl's recovery continues to unfold, hopefully successfully. Thanks agin. You guys are amazing.

I wish more people would see this video and realize why it is so important that we put the dots on our building windows, to prevent bird impacts. These are two that were injured. 25 million other birds died in Toronto alone. We can do better.
