Live in Northern Vermont about 2 miles from Canada which is the 45th parallel. which is where these sats travel for the northern hemisphere. The only options we have are broadband through Consolidated communications that anyone that lives from Vermont to Maine can tell that they suck ass. We just had 4 days with a phone that if you didn't answer it as it first rings it wouldn't work. Internet that didn't work at all and is only 25mb/s when it does. The other option is satellite internet which Hughes has a hard cap on usage. What does it work for and what does it not work for? My parents are also very interested in it, they pay the bill normally. They are really getting to the point that they have had it with Consolidated Communications.
Thank you! We just received our RV version, and at 76 years old, we are not quite as Techy as you younger folks. Oh yes... it only took one week from order to receipt. Other than mounting it on the roof, I think we can follow your video for installing ours.

Probably weeks if I’m not lying but she did say she paid for all the equipment which was like 600-700$ but she says it’s worth every dollar!! I also live in a rural area so I have high hopes too!!
I had Viasat as well, the biggest plan they offered in my area at the time was 150GB, for like$150 a month. Ran out of data like a week or two in every month and our speeds never went over 15mbps download and .75 mbps upload (under half of what they should have been), which they said the poor speeds were because of "bad location" ... it is like well I can't just up and move my house. Just got the notification that my Starlink shipped, I am so excited to have internet at my house again. I gave up the Viasat like 3 years ago because it just wasn't worth it, haven't had home internet since. Now my Niece's school is mad because "They have to have a stable internet connection at home. It is critical to our learning system, it is how they get their homework and send in assignments." I told her "We live in rural Michigan, half these kids don't even have the option to get internet at their house. We used paper when I was in school, it was great, you could take it anywhere, didn't have to charge it or connect it to internet. Also if it is so critical to you doing your job are you gonna pay the bill?" ... Apparently I was being unreasonable... she hasn't called me since. I thought they were fair points.

Thanks for doing install video on this, I am on the waiting list for my Starlink Sat as well. I currently have Viasat with an ORBI mesh booster that pulls 180ish mbps and a 3-5mb upload speed. The problem with Viasat is their package speed options and monthly price. I have the max 300GB per mo package @ $300mo and if you chew up the 300GBs before the end of the month, you have to buy more or the net speed goes to what you showed with your Century-link service. So to keep the wife’s real estate business going, a teenager and 2x toddlers with IPads on WiFi all the time, my Monthyl Viasat bill is always around $400mo due to always having to buy more GBs.
I just got my kit yesterday, on the best effort program. It instantly is blowing viasat out the water. Its insane how fast it works. Im using it right now to send this comment.
Last year at this time my Starlink speed was as high as 312mbps. Just now I got 9 and 27.3 with the warning that it is Prime Time and that I should expect slow speeds. They say they hope it will improve as they launch more sats in the future.
Yeah, our speeds definitely aren't as fast as they were several months ago. Either way, it's still faster than what we had before. I think with time it will continue to improve.
Same here. Got Starlink in June 2021 here in NC. Top speed was around 285mb and now it never goes above 100mp. During prime time it goes down to around 8 to 10 mb. Still better than centurylink. Hope they get more satellites up to compensate for the rise in customers.
I just ordered mine in Tedzidz Yucatan Mexico. About a month ago they dropped the equipment price by 50% to 8300 pesos and month cost also dropped by 50% to 1100 pesos per month. That is about $437 dollars and $58 dollars monthly. Currently I am paying 1800 pesos per month and get a range of below 1 meg up to 7 meg
My Starlink is supposed to ship in a week or two after ordering a year ago. I started airdropping my edited videos to my phone and uploading via cellular. It s way faster than my current internet. Hopefully Starlink will cure it all.
After 18 months mine is finally one the way. I was still not 100% sure on how I was going to mount the dish, and you are the first video I've come across that just screwed it into the roof on the tripod it comes with. How is that holding up after a year? I never even thought of that, but it seems like the easiest way to go about it that I've seen. Thanks for the video!
It’s holding up fine. We have had it that way for about a year and a half with no issues. Starlink makes a mount for the roof but at the time we got our satellite it was on back order. If you go this route, just make sure you do a good job sealing everything up. Lots of people told me I would have issues with leaks but so far it has been fine.
@@FarmerHunt Yeah, I'd imagine if you put enough sealant on it, it shouldn't be an issue. We just got a new roof after some hail damage about a month ago so my wife isn't too keen on drilling holes in it, but that's the only place I can mount it unobstructed... and I'm not trying to drop an extra $250 for that weighted ridgeline mount. Thanks for the reply!
These guys are pretty funny at first I didn’t think they were joking and I’m like oh my goodness but then I kind of caught on yes I guess I’m pretty slow. Thanks guys for the review I’ve been watching Starlink for a long time. I live in Phoenix Arizona and I have cable Internet and get about 4 to 500 Mb a second so I don’t have any need for Starlink. However I only have two choices here one is what I have the other is much worse called CenturyLink. So I’ve been excited for Starlink to come about as a competitor. Plus I think it’s super exciting how you can get Internet anywhere almost anywhere in the world especially in remote places. In the technology is amazing as far as the satellites go in space.
Glad you enjoyed our video. Starlink internet has been a huge game changer for us. We had centurylink and it was very very slow. Maybe one day we'll be able to get those 4 to 500 mbps speeds out in the country
This is a game changer for those who lives in isolated area now everyone can have ISP everywhere. It is only a matter of time when Starlink becomes available in every country.
The Philippines has approved plans that will see it become the first country in Southeast Asia to access SpaceX's Starlink broadband services. So we are all excited on how it goes
Correction: your old internet is actually 3 megaBITS pet second (so it's 0.375Megabytes per second). I hate that internet service providers do it like that, its very deceptive
Man you guys are hilarious, love the commentary on the install, the wife's complaint about the wire hanging off the roof during the installation etc. How's Starlink now after 8 months?
Haha thanks. Glad you enjoyed it! We are still very pleased after 8 months. The speed isn’t quite as good as it was initially, but it’s still way better than what we had. The cord has also been secured to the house and is no longer hanging
No Farms no food! I am in a similar situation in rural finland in an old Farmhouse..... 10megs i get through cell phone service with external antenna on the wall and all that sht. Waiting for that dish to arrive... they sure take their sweet time.

That is a beautiful thing. It is hard to express how big a deal Starlink is for those that really need it. A good way to capture it though, is that right now it is taking forever for the internet to open comments on this video. Congrats for getting your own unit and getting that great leap in speed. Thankfully I finally got the good news email. Will still be a week or two before it ships. But there's light at the end of this very, very, slow tunnel.

I think it would be better if you mount the starlink on the roof facing the north. By the way, I think the surrounding trees might be a problem during summer time when they are full of leaves. That might affect the signals.
@@T2P661What’s that snarky remark supposed to mean? Eric made a good point. The app picks up obstructions, which obviously the “naked” trees don’t present currently, but come spring/summer the fully leaved trees most likely would be picked up as an obstruction.

Nice review. I just got mine a few weeks ago here in rural P.A.. Easy set up and I have been getting download speeds from 30 to 55 Mbps. For me that's excellent. All is good, (but), I have already had one data breech issue that has lead me to cancel one of my credit cards.
Great quick video, cant wait till mine arrives and I can dump centurylink as well!
This is a game changer for those who lives in isolated area now everyone can have ISP everywhere. It is only a matter of time when Starlink becomes available in every country.
I agree. It’s coming
10:02 You're funny! I came for starlink! I subscribed !
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed our video
Best Starlink unboxing I've ever seen.
😂😂 Thank you!
Awesome video. We deal with the same shit here in Michigan. Here just trying to figure out my picture directions with our new starlink.
I have been curious about Starlink. I enjoyed watching the unboxing. You and Eric made it simple to understand. Eric is a comedian. Thank you
Thanks for watching! We’ll be doing an update video soon. Glad you enjoyed this video.
Thanks for the great video guys. I can see the mass exodus from Centurylink is under way. I too am in a rural area (Washington state) and am stuck with Centurylink (for now). My order should arrive sometime late spring 2023. Looking forward to legit speeds!
Thanks! Hope you get yours soon. It has been great for us.
They call it CenturyLink because that's how long it takes to download anything.
Starlink is the best thing to happen in years, just got mine a few weeks ago and this shit is a game changer. I game all the time on it and stream and watch 4 k no problem
I agree! Never thought i'd see the day where we had fast internet out in the country. We can actually stream things on our tv now
is it works while raining?
@@mohit9626 So far it has worked fine durning rain and storms. We’ve had some pretty high winds and it may slow speed some but it’s still way faster than what I had before
Do you lag any while playing games online?
@@BlueDragonAkira That magic question.
I came bc I wanted information. I much-needed the laughs.. Great job 👍
Glad you got a good laugh. Thanks!
Awesome! Glad you are about to get yours. It has been great. I never thought I’d see the day where we had fast internet. Part of our work is selling beef we raise online. It has made managing a website so much easier and faster
Have you gotten yours yet?
@@olamideolayinka4130 It did take a bit, but everything has been set up for a few weeks and running great. Been like a dream. Not the crazy speeds some have, but more than enough. Getting to remember what it is like to watch videos with good resolution and even downloading some games I was gifted over steam.
@@Flaris what is your highest Mbps from your test?
@@olamideolayinka4130 Well from the ones I've taken screenshots of for record keeping the highest I've seen among them was 69.5.
Great job, thanks for showing us how it works!
Still have our fingers crossed that it arrives someday. We placed our preorder 13 months ago
We ordered around the same time. We were supposed to get it in fall of 21 but it got moved. Maybe yours will come soon!
beautifull place, perfect weather and sunset
I think it would be better if you mount the starlink on the roof facing the north. By the way, I think the surrounding trees might be a problem during summer time when they are full of leaves. That might affect the signals.
It is on the north side of my roof. It auto adjusted to aim kinda northeast.
😂
The app told them it was a great spot to install it. You’re one of those ppl huh
@@T2P661What’s that snarky remark supposed to mean? Eric made a good point. The app picks up obstructions, which obviously the “naked” trees don’t present currently, but come spring/summer the fully leaved trees most likely would be picked up as an obstruction.
I'm going to get this thanks for the video I pay 175 dollars a month for viasat and all my movies have to buffer. I can't wait for this
It’s definitely worth it!
Hey guys, greetings from the UK. Great video, thank you. I was wondering how you're getting on with it now and how the kids like it. Did you fix the draping cable :)
Hey! The internet is working great. We see some variations in speed but it doesn't affect anything we do. Vidoes are uploading MUCH faster. The cable is now secured to the house!!!
Congrats so obviously you and your friend were happy with the service because he was like let’s go! 😊
Thanks! We have been very pleased with it.
@@FarmerHunt Good times! I’m glad for your families, the internet is definitely a must have for lots of things. Cheers 😊
They should make a portable option for people who visit places that don’t have internet do you know a thing about this?
They have just started offering a portable version I believe.
@@FarmerHunt I’m gonna have to look into it lakes round here don’t get the internet
New to the page! I'm actually so happy for y'all!
I know the struggle it makes me excited to know we can can finally connect to almost everyone!
Thank you! We were pretty excited when we set it up and it actually worked like we hoped it would. It has been great for us!
Thanks for this video, I'm in deep Alaska and needing to install on my metal roof...in the middle of wintertime. Haha, might wait til spring
Haha yeah I don’t blame you!
Thanks it's nice to see Starlink in action.
Thanks! We are glad to have it.
Mine is 0.8 I would celebrate a 3😂 just got starlink can't wait to see. Thanks for the video
Hope it works well for you. We still love ours!
Great technology coming for everybody. That's our future.
I agree!
I'm watching from Bangladesh!
Awesome. Thanks for watching and for commenting!
Just ordered mine after a year long wait for my farm. Those are beautiful numbers compared to the 1.5 I’ve been getting with viasat
We sure have enjoyed it so far! Hope you do also.
Gosh dang this is genius. Now I can live in the country! Hopefully a Walmart of Aldi nearby. Amazing.
20 minutes to the nearest Walmart and Aldi. Not too bad!
We are building in rural Iowa and just ordered starlink! So excited! Thanks for the awesome review!
Good luck with the build. We have been very pleased with our Starlink so far.
I like your video and your family. You guys are so real and lovely.
Thank you!
Excellent. A good option for rural areas.
Yes, we are very thankful!
I just got my STARLINK and came here for info on the setup..my speeds are just like yours pathetic! I am so excited to see how fast it is with STARLINK
Hope it works well for you.
FastFwd through a UA-cam video "I never knew that was an option" - Love it. I have had StarLink for a year now. Worth every penny when there are no other options.
I agree. It has been so awesome for us! We have a website and ship beef we raise and it’s amazing how much faster we can update our website and do things like that
I have had it 30 mins and I wanna burn it it doesn’t work
@@aidenbooth9597 Does it not work good for you?
@@FarmerHunt iv had it a week and still can’t even connect to internet an there customer service team are useless
@@aidenbooth9597 I haven’t talked to anybody that couldn’t get theirs working yet. Hate that’s happening to you. I had trouble with the connection going into the dish. It’s easy to come out but once I got it hooked up right it worked fine
I love his answer not a yes, not lets go...just Now.
This is awesome, guys!! Thanks for the video and the humor!!
Thanks for watching!
Nice review. I just got mine a few weeks ago here in rural P.A.. Easy set up and I have been getting download speeds from 30 to 55 Mbps. For me that's excellent. All is good, (but), I have already had one data breech issue that has lead me to cancel one of my credit cards. I don't no how or why it happened or if it was related to the Starlink system, but it happened. I had ordered the Ethernet adapter from Starlink,(to go fully hard wired. No wifi), but they were back ordered. Just a heads up to always be secure out there. Happy surfing 😉
Thanks for the tip! We haven’t had any issues so far but that doesn’t mean we won’t.
Hey if you dont mind me asking, roughly how long between order and delivery was yours?
@@xXalexoozXx about 15 months.
@@xXalexoozXx we ordered ours in February of 21 and got it in March of 22. At the time we ordered it was just preorders. I have heard they are sending them out based on when you ordered and also the need for internet in your area. I don’t know if that is true or not though.
@@FarmerHunt ive been hearing that in some parts its been a year long wait for people, but i keep seeing posts about people ordering this year and getting it a few months later. i just ordered mine 2 days ago. im in a closed cell and it says it could be till next year, im excited for it for sure.
thanks for the reply
Starlink by far is the next disruptor of technology and people who truly understand the pain will offer Starlink to others. new revolution happening!
So far is has been a game changer for us. We have always been held back due to slow internet. It makes some of our work a lot easier now!
Great video guys. Fun to watch
Thank you!
Awesome , if I get depressed I’m watching again!,, thanks
Haha thanks! Glad you enjoyed it.
Hahahaha! You guys are hilarious. My favorite part is when Eric is showing how Farmer Hunts pants are to short.
😂😂 Glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome! Your house sounds about like mine. And Eric acts like hes never had chicken litter in his hair lol, good stuff guys. Keep em coming!
😂😂 Thanks for watching!
6:25. Whoa, it's motorized man. Nice iMac dish.
I’m so excited for mine. Just got mine confirmed! I also get 3 mps. Pumped! You guys are pretty funny too!
Thanks for watching. You are going to love Starlink!
Most need a longer cord, comes w/75 ft. I had to order 150 ft. 2 of my friends had to also.
You have earned a new subscriber!! I want more of this haha
Great! Thanks for watching!
11:15 my heart melted... that cute heeeey
That boy is a mess! He’s the baby of the farm but not for long.
great video thank you, how long did it take to upload this video compared to the usually 12-24 hours?
Thanks! It takes between 30-45 minutes usually to upload one. Quite a difference!
the cable on the side of the house will be a conversation starter.
It is now secured to the house. Still pretty noticeable though because it's black on a white house.
its incredible, my dad got his and he set it up in the drive way to test and it got 250mbs .... i am getting one
We are big fans!
Lol wasn’t expecting to laugh. Thanks for the help.
Glad you got a good laugh!
Sweet. This helps me know what I need to do to install on my Dad's Georgia farm.
Good luck!
You guys are toooo funny😂 if you do comedy shows, I’m there!
😂😂 thanks!
The Man Card: these two invented it!
Nice video. Great banter between the two of you.
Thanks for watching!
Great video! Enjoyed it 👍 thanks for the info now to set my starlink up 😆
Thanks! Hope it goes well for you. We are really enjoying ours.
I watched others do this and it worked perfectly. No reboot etc.
We had to reboot both of ours once but after that they worked fine.
You waited nearly a year. That's cool. Ours just arrived today, nearly 3 yrs waiting. I was starting to say some pretty mean things about Musk on social media comment sections. Will set it up this coming weekend. Better frickin be worth the wait and the cost.
Hope it works well for you! Ours has been great. It is not as fast as it was when we first got it but still much better than what we previously had.
3Mbps service is actually 54X faster then dial up. 3x faster would be 168Kbps (0.16Mbps)
Good thing it came with pictures
Very handy for us!
Starlink will be available soon here in the Philippines (1st country in SE Asia) and hopefully it will help some of rural areas here that the current ISP is having hard time to reach these places.
Great! We have really enjoyed ours.
Excited for this one. Though I did feel sad seing their old download and upload speed. In another video someone used some smarthub telecom network which costed 99 dollars a month (about 5k+ php) for 3mbps. That's criminal
For sure im 80km either way from the city cant wait to have, ordering it next week
Wow.. amazing.. thank you for sharing about Starlink. Very interesting. I'm Omar from Malaysia.
"Does the cord just hang off the house?!?" I know that phrase all too well. My wife is going to say the same thing whenever we finally get ours in. I'm overly excited for you guys and I'm ready to get mine as well. I've been waiting for about a year myself.
😂😂 Hope you get yours soon!
I was thinking " TOTALLY " what I am gonna say !! But its worth it !!
Best part of video!
