Hey Tac, just bought that knife today and thought I'd check to see if anyone made any review videos on UA-cam about it and I came across your vid. Nice! I love the knife. I have $500 knives and $5 knives and everything in between and I paid $50 Canadian for this one. Sweet little knife. Had to have it. Sometimes you have to scratch that "mist buy another knife" itch and today was one of those days. Know what I mean? Lol. Thanks!

Micarta is actually very similar to G10. It's a laminate with similar properties and performance. Heat, Impact, moisture resistant on the same level as g10. Just fabric in resin vs fiberglass in resin. You can take it down with sand paper to increase traction, but wear a mask. That dust will kill ya.

Thanks for your review. You get extra points for pronouncing “Camillus” correctly. If you paid $13, you did well. It’s difficult to find a new HT-7 at such a low price. You stated that the blade steel is titanium bonded stainless “as with most of Camillus knives.” The Camillus Cutlery Company began making knives in 1876 at their New York factory. Tens of millions of Camillus knives were made for military and civilian use until the New York factory closed in 2007. Acme United purchased the intellectual property (“Camillus” name) and re-launched the Camillus brand in or around 2009. While most blades under current production may be titanium bonded, blades marked Camillus having a titanium bond make up only a small percentage of Camillus knives in use today.
I’ve owned 2 Camillus HT-7 over the last year or so. In each case, the screw-together rivets have been the knife’s weak point. Not too long after purchasing the first knife the handles became loose and I disassembled, roughed the tang surface and glued the handles together with epoxy before reattaching the rivets. I gave that knife away and purchased a second. Again the scales became loose. I plan to epoxy these handles back together, dispense with the factory rivets and substitute something else.
Otherwise, I agree that the beefy yet smaller 3.25 inch blade size and overall ergonomics work well. Someone with larger hands may disagree. I also like the almost indestructible Micarta handles. As for a cheap nylon sheath, you can’t ask for much better. Again, I’ve owned 2 and the keeper strap on both holds the knife securely. Each has a plastic insert that functions property, keeping the blade from tearing through the nylon under normal usage. Along with everyday use, I’ve carried and used this knife in the field on a 3-day camping and fishing trip. The blade and sheath performed fine, except for the handle which became progressively loose during each use, especially when I used a rubber mallet to baton the knife blade for kindling. I used 3” diameter dry firewood with straight grain and struck only the blade. The wood split like butter but vibration alone caused the handle to loosen. Cutting bait with a knife with a loose handle makes for a stinky knife.
Again, thanks for the review. While I would buy these all day for $13 and modify the fasteners, I don’t think it’s a “good buy” at $30.
