I’m in search of a dongle dac for my phone since I found out that Bluetooth is not great. Yes, this is the part of UA-cam I was looking for! .... I subscribe to Amazon Music but I have issues with playing Amazon HD from my iPad Pro (Source) > USB C-Hub > Fiio K3 DAC > Fiber optic tousling > DSP RF 3Sixty.3 ... Right now I am just playing MP3s at 320 kbps ... Somewhere along the way is the weakest link i just have to find it. Looking into the specs on all of the DACs ... I really wanted a Sony GS9 buuuut, that is discontinued and the cost is high. Already had the iPad. That's how I got to the Fiio solution. ... How are you measuring your improvements? Do you use a meter or anything for tuning?
Thanks! I use the Audiofrog UMI-1 measurement mic and tuning methods by Andy Weymeier. I try to tune my system to his curve for a one seat tune. The sound quality difference between Bluetooth vs using the Fiio is noticeable by ear ... much less noise in the music, but never attempted to measure or quantify it. I'm sure Audiofrog website might have guidance on how to do that.
Congratulations, that's an awsome system. Question: from my understanding, by using the Fiio device you are improving the quality of the signal from your phone connected directly to the DSP...so in that case I asume you are not able to use Android Auto (or Carplay) anymore on the Kenwood head unit?
Thanks! You are correct, the Fiio dramatically improves the sound quality when I want to listen to high res music on Tidal. The AudioControl dsp allows you to create saved presets using the acr3 knob. Therefore when I listen to Tidal it's on preset #2. When listening to all my other sources on my Kenwood (cd, bluetooth, sirius, etc) I switch to preset #1.
Sorry, but no updates. The unit worked fine ... exceptional sound quality. However, the wiring adapters connecting/integrating made it a hassle after awhile. I eventually sold the car. Thanks.
