  • We've returned from our epic four weeks of travel through Turkey.
Our trip to Turkey was a long time coming. We really wanted to check out some of the hard-to-reach places in the far southeast. And between political unrest and the 2023 Turkey/Syria earthquake, we had to make sure that it was safe before we went.
With a lot of planning and a little luck, our planes, boats, and automobile journey from Istanbul to Sanliurfa went off without a hitch.
Family travel in Turkey, especially with kids, isn't something that many in the West consider, but this trip became one of our top family travel memories. in this video, I'll lay out why Turkey is awesome for families and what you need to know before you go.

Thanks for an interesting video. The kids seem to have had a lot of fun in Cappadocia. And the fooood!
Speaking of food: don’t tell me you missed Gaziantep on the way to Şanlıurfa and Adıyaman?! Gaziantep is THE food capital of Turkiye.

@@WanderingWagars anything meat and kebab is a sure thing but the city is said to have 50 different eggplant dishes, so even regular home style dishes with more vegs are heavenly. Lahmacun, beyran, patlıcan kebabı, içli köfte, dolma, katmer, BAKLAVA… many of the well known Turkish dishes originate from there (or are made to perfection there). Tons of videos on here too. Basically the first thing that pops up when you start searching for Gaziantep is food :D.
Also don’t miss the trafitional bazaar district for spices, dried food & nuts and copperware; Almacı Pazarı and Bakırcılar Çarşısı.
