I visited a month after September 11th: museums closed but the Anit Kabir was open and worth the journey from the west coast. I thought it was worth a few days of anyone's time. Quite a relief from the tourist area on the coast. I have portraits of Ataturk as well as Turkish flags at my holiday home in the UK. Love the Turkish national anthem too.
As a Turkish person living in the UK, I feel very proud to watch this video. Finally, somebody getting into the real Turkish lifestyle and showing our real culture to the world. many thanks to Mick and Trudie for this outstanding workout and point of view towards Turkey. Greetings from Bournemouth.
Turkey is the most beautiful city in the world with incredible culture and amazing people! Thank you for introducing this beautiful, wonderful country to us♥️🇨🇦🇹🇷🇦🇿
I must honestly say that this is one of the most informative, most entertaining and most mind-broadening travel videos I've ever seen. I'm very impressed by how well you portrayed the city. Despite being Turkey's capital city, Ankara is often overshadowed by the more touristy Istanbul and Antalya. However, thanks to your enlightening video, the city now has a great fascination for me and I can't wait for the day to visit this vibrant metropolis. Great job and keep it up!

We have an endless love for Atatürk within us. We cry because he is gone, we rejoice for what he did, we miss him as we remember him.. Yes, we are lucky because him existence was a great gift to our nation, but as the years pass, we realize that he was a great gift to humanity.
Mick & Trudie, I’ve watched numerous videos showcasing different parts of Turkey. I have to confess that I enjoyed this particular one immensely and didn’t want it to end. Both of you have an incredible and unique way in presenting just about anything with fantastic results for us the viewers. Ankara, looks magnificent and historically interesting. I would venture to say that Turkey is one of the most underrated country in the world. I’ve only experienced Istanbul and Bodrum, but there is so much more to see. A BIG THANK YOU again for a wonderful video.
What you mean by underrated lol? 😄It’s 6th most visited country in the world. Every corner is full of tourists and anyone in the world knows turkey . 2 of top10 visited cities of the world belong to Turkey
@@levitanno I don’t know whether you fully understand what I meant by my comment. I will explain better. There are many people around the world that when they dream about going on holidays, the first thought that comes to mind is EUROPE because of its history, culture, food beaches etc. and what I’m saying is ,although Turkey gets its share of tourism,I believe that it should get a hell of a lot more because of its natural beauty, culture, history, food, the friendliness of the people and its unbelievable Riviera. I’ve been there and I’ve experienced it first hand. I hope my explanation clears the air rather than you perhaps thinking that I was being critical. I love Turkey so much that I’m actually contemplating retiring there.
@@alexsumbati4194 yes surely I understood what you said above . I didn’t think in negative way already. I just said it’s 6th most visited country of world already. So according to your point of view it should be in top 3 or something??😁
Dear friends Trudy and Mick, as always thank you very much for another beautiful and interesting and very captivating video this time from the Capital Ankara. I can't thank you enough for everything you do and bring about Turkey. Also for me Turkey is my second home, I think I have everything south of Cappadocia and Pammukale, that I have always seen everything. Even though I couldn't go to Turkey this year because of the pandemic, next year in June one week Olundeniz + one week Kalkan + one week Kas will be on my program, hopefully nothing will get in the way this time. I think I have already visited Turkey more than 15 times. Take care and when I come down I will contact you and I will certainly bring something from Belgium for both of you. Keep you well and safe and all the best. Danny Stoelzaet from Schoonaarde - Belgium.
I've always dreamed of travelling across Europe and Turkey is without a doubt, one of the countries I'd really really really love to visit and explore.
I'm so glad I came across your channel. I'm a keen fan of Turkey I've been 20 times lol. We generally fly into dalaman and stay in either marmaris or icmeler. Love the videos keep them coming 🙃😊
My parents-in-law visited Turkey and Ankara for the first time. We watched your video before doing anything else! It is absolutely an amazing guide and reflects the perfect representation of the city. Being Turkish myself, I would not be able to remember to take my visitors to some of the places you have shown in the video. Thank you.
Thanks for this - a little taste of Turkey for we poor Brits who still can't visit at the moment ! I imagine it is very difficult for those who work in tourism in Turkey .We will be back as soon as we are able .
Interesting video, thank you. Other Atatürk important achievement was the change of the Ottoman Turkish script by the Latin-based Turkish alphabet. Being in Ankara and not exploring the "Anatolian civilizations Museum" would be a sin. It is a wonderful feeling to see in real, pieces of history described in books, even in the secondary school Universal-history-text-books, that is just surreal.
I would like to thank you a lot for one of the best contents in UA-cam about Ankara. I am from Ankara and lived there for 25 years. Now, I live in London for education. There are also some subcenters in Ankara especially for gastronomy, university, and recreational areas. Ankara is one of the most underrated cities in Turkey and I highly recommend everyone to visit Ankara during their holiday in Turkey. Best Regards from London
Hello, thank you very much for introducing Ankara. And I am very happy that you included Atatürk in your video. He is a great savior for us. He's a hero because he fought ignorance. We Turks love you very much. My last word is from Atatürk: Peace at home, peace in the world.
Simit sarayı is a chain which sells the same simit everywhere all around Turkey. İt is not Ankara simit. Ankara simit has a darker colour and a more roasted taste. İt is only sold in local bakers. It is really different from other simits you may eat all aroud the country.

As an Ankaralı I took offense at the Simit comparison :D Jokes aside, thank you for your beautiful portrayal of Ankara. It might seem quite gray and soulless to the untrained eye but if you know where to look, there are awesome experiences to be had! Loved your footage in Anıtkabir as well. I love the way you depict the cities and towns of Turkey. A much different perspective with human touch touch. I lived in Ankara for about 6 years including my studies in Middle East Technical University. The city has changed so much since I lived there 30 years ago. After watching your video I feel like I should go back for a visit. I must say tough Ankara inhabitants have always been so civilized, literate and polite and I believe they are still that way.
Well done! Ankara doesn’t get the attention it deserves only because it’s not near the sea like the other famous Turkish cities.

I don’t know whether you fully understand what I meant by my comment.

I'm really amazed to see how modern and vibrant Ankara is.
I've always dreamed of travelling across Europe and Turkey is without a doubt, one of the countries I'd really really really love to visit and explore.

Other Atatürk important achievement was the change of the Ottoman Turkish script by the Latin-based Turkish alphabet.
