    This is likened unto the African American tradition, when as little girls our grandmother's would part our hair and grease our scalps and massage our heads. Same experience.

      @imaniwilson1848 Рік тому +27

      Yes! This tradition absolutely goes back to the African American culture and back to the continent as well. Probably the only difference in this cultural ritual around the world are the ingredients used in the oil blend.

      You are so right! I actually thought of that watching the video. When we were kids my mom would do grease our scalp and then massage then massage the oil into our scalps. Brings back so many great memories.

      Same fond memories for me also. I remember my scout getting greased and massaged.
      I can still see the jars of hair grease and a big wide tooth comb.
      I remember the oil's always had either bergamot, castor oil, or coconut oil within them.

    Really informative video and love the natural oils. My husband has been doing scalp messages with oil to me for over a year now. I was having fall out issues and had stem cell injections on scalp. He does a WON Der Ful job!! Relaxing and soothing. Sometimes we talk and sometimes it's to relax. He is 76, it helps his hands and I'm 62..he's definitely got the touch and my hair and scalp is much, much better!

    I watched this video at least 5 times and then sent it to my husband so he could see what he was going to be doing! 🤣 I made the oil mixture using this recipe and my husband decided to put my hair in sections in order to do a thorough job. He put the oil that remained on his hands into his own hair! Perfection!! Thank you so much!! 🥰

    Oh my goodness, that was the sweetest video I've seen in ages. We forget the power of the laying on of hands. Also the forced unhurriedness of it all will have to be re-learned. The inherent therapy will foster both healing & hair growth. Thank you for taking it back & introducing us to this sweet, powerful, & no doubt effective, tradition. ❤💜❤💜❤

    This came at the right time. Just this week I decided to warm up equal parts olive oil and coconut oil and I literally drenched my bum- length dreads in that. I let the oil sit in my hair overnight (+/- 14hrs) before washing it out. Now I know to incorporate essential oils and actually massaging the oil into the sculp. But even without the massage, the texture of my hair felt so thick and strong afterwards 😀

      @@CurlyProverbz About 6 months now. It's AWESOME! I was replacing my hubby's beard balms and oils because he never reads ingredients and he had some really bad ones! I was reading the ingredients on one of better quality and noticed emu oil was a constant among the better brands. I decided to buy some pure emu oil and make his oils and balms myself because all the other ingredients listed, I already had at home. In doing that I used it on my edges and scalp just messing around because I was never really an "oiler" (I know 😂)
      Well fast forward about 6 months and my hair is so dense now that the scalp area of my parts isn't nearly as visible. And my hair feels different if that makes sense. I'm a high porosity girl and the ends of my hair always felt a bit rougher than the rest, even after a trim. It seems as though the oil filled in those gaps and my overall hair health is thriving. It's STRONG but doesn't feel hard like I just did a protein treatment. I used it alone for about 3 months then I started infusing herbs like rosemary, fenugreek and cloves. It's thick and creamy and almost feels like smooth silicone, but it's odorless.
      This regrowth is significant to me because I lost lots of density due to anemia and undiagnosed hypothyroidism. But because my hair was always so thick, I hardly noticed the loss until I started seeing scalp! I would definitely say emu oil, which can be pricey, is worth every penny for the benefits you get with consistency and love. My go tos are emu oil, tallow, fenugreek, rosemary and flax seeds. 🙏🏾🙌🏽

    I used to oil my hair but had to stop because of the insane amount of hair fall. I tried and bought many things but nothing is helped. So I’m very scared to try this despite wanting to so badly. And just the amount of ingredients that goes in the oil is really inconvenient for me, so it would be nice if I could buy it already made. And to be honest Indians have really great hair genes so when I hear it’s because of oil I find that hard to believe, but I do believe it contributes to something. Just my perspective

    Hi Ferida. Thank you for going on our hair journeys with us and sharing your wisdom. Hoping to get answers to 2 question. Is it really necessary to trim your hair, especially when you are trying so hard to get it to grow? If it is necessary to trim, how do you know when and how much? Also, what is the best product to use when you are smoothing your hair into a ponytail? Should you use a gel or oil to smooth it back? I welcome the your advice.

      Peppermint lavender and rosemary are great too. I would say t should ideally be used before pre wash day but is also great 3 times a week

    It was incredibly satisfying watching your mother in law oil and massage your scalp and brush your hair.

    So just to verify, the hair gets shampooed twice a week? Should it be with a clarifying shampoo?

    Omg I'm so late to this video. But I'm here now. Thanks for sharing❤. Can I borrow your mother in law to do mine. It looked so relaxing.😊 I lost my mom a bit over 2 years now, so now she can't give me one of these scalp massages.😢
