I generally can still see when I get down. I find that I lose about 10minutes of hunting while using a bow. I've had several occasions when I've drawn back on deer but my sight picture was too dark but after I let down I could see the target with my naked eye. But nevertheless I can always tie a piece of paracord to the eye before i descend.

Actually just use a butterfly knot and make equal length of rope. One side is the climbing side, the other is the retrieval side.
