Awesome video, it’s really sad to see Lord and Taylor going out. We lost our only location in Ohio back in 2004, it’s Now a Von Maurand it still looks like a Lord and Taylor, but it’s sad to see the whole Chain go
Didn't expect ya to get Oak Brook as well It was a nice store with an original FRT and a decent mod of a Montgomery Gonna miss that location. I kind of think Oakbrook is starting to stagnate though
@@ProspectElevators "covid" has nothing to do with the decline. "covid" has a 99% SURVIVAL rate. The left wants to destroy this country and its economy to give it to China. WAKE UP.
Sad to see all these large retailers struggling. The mall in the city where I’m from (about 2 1/2 hours from Chicago) just filed for bankruptcy and at one time had 5 anchors and the only original that’s left is kohl’s. The old JC Penney was turned into an H&M and planet fitness but like 65% of the mall is vacant. Have you done any of the Von Maur stores in Chicago land? We have one where I’m from and surprisingly that’s a chain that seems to be doing well. Great video!
Lord and Taylor had a dated appearance, date merchandise, and lost brand amongst the public. Mid market retailers do not need to be in malls where other mid market retailers exist (Macys should not be in a mall with Dillards). Their merchandise is frumpy but their advertising is targeted to luxury buyers. Lord and Taylor tried to rebrand itself but by then it was way too late. The best strategy that Lord and Taylor could have taken is by becoming a destination store in markets not set up like NYC or LA. Lord and Taylor needed only one store in markets like South Florida, Atlanta, Charleston, Birmingham, Memphis, Washington, St Louis and so forth. Being a "destination store" in shopping plazas has better potential to attract people looking for something different, versus being in suburban malls where most shoppers aren't attracted to luxury retail per se.
so much mis-information this guy is sharing. all chicago area did well, northbrook was numberr two volume in the market, the declining status business in Illinois, is forcing Saks and Neimans to exit here also

Thanks! Its definately sad to see them close. They were the oldest department store afterall.
@@LostDepartments Exactly, it’s a loss of a historical Chain, which makes it really sad
I miss Lord & Taylor, it was one of my favorite places to shop sales.
Lord and Taylor is my favorite store - I am heartbroken
On June 30, 2021 it became shoppers find
Great job on the video
Wondering if Dillard's would open at any of these properties? Otherwise Von Maur could expand maybe...great video!
I would hope so but with the overall state of retail right now I have little hope in that happening.
It would also be hard for Von Maur to go in there is because they have a store only 10 minutes away at Yorktown Center

@@LostDepartments Even Woodfield? COVID really accelerating the decline of shopping malls that even Woodfield and Oak Brook aren't safe anymore
