Glad you all enjoyed it, yes I feel a part 3 coming on sometime, we have still so much to talk about. Anyway must rush I have a ferry to catch.
We need part 3 to find out if you were hungry 🤣
Inspiring interview!
Legend bruvva - take us back to Fokus recordings dayz for pt 3 and play all your special micky Intro dubplates ;) lol 💥🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
Definitely needs a Pt. 3, have really enjoyed these two. Hearing about you going back inside for multicultural day was quality
Love that story😂
I am sooo effing emotional right now😭🥰 so chuffed to see these interviews now at this time as theres clearly a 90s revival going on since last year i noticed it when i just suddenly bought some decks and got back into it..even saw old tunes released now and rave fb groups and even kids on decks and all sorts i was like wtf is going on haha. Then i looked at the astrology !! Its a 30 yr cycle (saturn in pisces) 😮😂❤ now all i wanna do is get out there and play all these old tunes to share the love again jus like it was back then that same feeling is coming back around and its for NOW coz it was an amazing time to be alive just like now with this ascension in full swing😮❤ the unity n love feeling is what we all need right now. ❤
Sorry for waffling im just blown away .. Does anyone else relate ?
Amazing you’re feeling the way you are and that the coming alive to mixing and enjoying the music again is alight in you. I hope this continues to grow in you and others, wishing you all the very best along your journeys’s, creative and otherwise 💫⚡️✨
@LondonSomething1994
Awww Thanxx Ron that's so lovely😍
All the very bestest ever to you & yours🤩🥰🤗
Very sad day today because of the tragic loss of Jason Kaye and the Mc "Singing" Fats in the last few days. It's a reminder that we must appreciate all these legends from the scene that gave us so much joy before it's too late. Thank you so much Ron for getting all these great and important stories out there and on record.
I was hoping Jason would appear on the podcast at some point 😞
@@ROBERTTONUS shit, I just heard. What a shocking week!
RIP Fats, RIP Jason Kaye aka TopBuzz. Social Circles was one of the best independent record label in UK
❤️❤️😞😞
I didn’t know this. Damn..
Would also love the legend Easygroove 💯
I don’t think Mickey gives himself enough credit for how much of a legend he is in UK music. 🎉
Absolutely
This guy was the best drum and bass DJ between 1995 - 1998, his Helter Skelter sets were just awesome 👍.
What a genuine bloke
Surely, Eastman and Suzie G is a must next! Please! I know you're doing an amazing job with these podcasts but it would be the first interview since Kool London since it changed hands and very fitting. Bless up to all the London Something Podcast crew!
Totally agree with this 1
We need a part 3 to hear about Jungle Soundclash and Mickey's many famous dubplate special collection. Loved it. ❤🙏
Most def
Agree with @mickeyfinn9871 100% that MC GQ was the best MC of the 90s jungle scene, without a doubt.
Dont forget mcmc
Need a part 3 . Soo much more to talk about I reckon !! Mick along with the awol and world dance crews were childhood idols .. First rave was the 93/94 world dance at 14yo 🤣🤣 time of my life.. thanks for bringing this scene gold to the masses 🙏🏽👊🏽✌🏽💜
This was brilliant. Thanks Ron and Mickey for this. Really enjoyed. Any chance of getting Darren Jay on a podcast Ron?
A.W.O.L at the paradise club was big big big
I remember going to the first AWOL. GQ was a true 12 hour shift man. Different gravy
I remember tripping, watching old footage of Woodstock and wishing I could have been there... Then 30 odd years later I see things like this and it reminds me that I was able to witness something even better. Thanks for the memories.
Micky finn the legend one of my all time jungle drum and bass d.j's would always look out on the flyers back in the day to see if micky finn was on the line up.
In 92 all the DJs and Raves including Roast were still mainly on the Hardcore tip and in late 92 some Jungle Techno. The first strictly Jungle style set I heard was at Freedom Tasco Warehouse in 92.
World Dance at Lydd was as good as it got & as good as it gets.
My all time #1 night out. Fckn unbelievable!! 😎😁👏🏻👏🏻🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶
From this discussion I certainly would like to see a podcast with the Ragga Twins and the MCs that crossed over from London's Sound Systems. Credit to Micky for mentioning that. It also brings to light the rave experience and it would be nice to hear Everton & Kingsley from Roast, Sting from Telepathy, Terry Turbo of One Nation speak about their nights from their perspective as promoters.
Holligan 69 - what a tune
@@macca9770 that's a foundation track if you ask me!! Ragga Twins are still relevant on the MC circuit now. The way they consistently maintain a high level of MCing on par with if not better than the current emerging MCs. They as authentic MCs as you can get!! National treasures that deserves tons of credit!
@@TakeMeBackPirateRadio don’t doubt what you say, I just don’t know them as MC’s. Just remember hearing H69 in 1990 and thinking…..Wow!
@@macca9770 That track was ground breaking. I can tell you this they're still best MCs in the scene, the reason why they have their own vibe and identity, they've consistently been around from 1980, they have lyrics for days, their content is flawless, they can chat at any tempo, they combine together smoothly... They are top entertainers. RTC 4 Life!!
Ragga twins are still amazing MCs 🔥
These interviews are going to go down in history for future generations to educate themselves on how this music all started and who was involved and how .I am so happy that you have done such a good job Ron ! Keep up the good work brother 💎You are all my Heroes 🫡
@48:23 He right "GOOD MC"s KNOW WHEN TO SHUT UP" they"re meant to contribute to the music NOT over take it like some do!
"Mickey Finn the Dj,knows how to spin those tunes" Great interview again Ron 👍
I really enjoyed this podcast. I could heard another extra hour plus of this discussion. Big up the World Dance bomber jacket crew and all Paradise Club and Lazerdrome crew! Out to all the vinyl junkies!! Respect the don dada Micky Finn and once again DJ Ron for making the words and questions flow so easily. Bless up!
Yes I remember the MA 1 and 2 jackets. I had a World Dance and AWOL bag for years and year even when they were battered I wanted to keep them just for what they meant .
@@AdamTheAd-vanc3d Trust!! They're novelty now!
Having grown up in Birmingham and a big drum and bass head (big up the Que club and medicine bar massive) and i can testify that the Mickey Finn tape was the first requested by evryone when ever i brought a tape pack
I went to AWOL at Paradise in 91, pretty much when it first opened and it was definitely four to the floor then. For me it changed in 92 and the breakbeat sound became more prominent. Randall, in my opinion, was the one really pushing that sound in Paradise Club. Everything progressed so quickly at that time. I remember hearing GQ calling it the jungle sound, over the Photek tune, Jump in 93 when I'd say it made that transition. Just my opinion.
So cool to hear Micky talk about the team. When AWOL first opened the door team were not great, or certainly not up to the standard they set later on. As soon as the promoters changed the door team, the whole vibe changed to one of safety and being able to have fun. It was so special AWOL at Paradise. It was unique and like Micky said the crowd were spoilt with amazing cutting edge music every week. The amount of dubplates heard down there for the first time was insane. And thank god for GQ. Quite often in the crowd and always a massive part of the vibe created. I just feel so lucky to have gone there. It felt like my life ended when it moved to SW1.
Absolute legendary interview, mickys genuinely a great guy, he proper looked after me when i ordered garms from his websites, micheal and gary interview would maye be a good 1 maybe 👌👌👌
Absolute legend in the scene, thanks for part 2. Huge props to the love showed to GQ, got to get him on the podcast Ron!
How about a part 3 digging through Mickeys record collection? Would love to see what gems were there and would trigger some nostalgic moments I’m sure… big up
Part 3. I want to hear more about urban takeovers history. Serious I could listen to him talk all day. Even what is he doing now a days
Thanks for putting together part 2 Ron - these interviews are the absolute best 👍🏾
The inclusion of all seems to be truly alive in the drum and bass festivals I've been to in recent years. For real. All walks of life. ❤
First seen micky finn at the eclipse in cov 1991. 16 years old, those were the days. God, i feel old 😎
Amazing Micky finn. Paradise club, best club ever 2 hours set with the residency. Best times of my life x great pod cast
Get Jay Pender on to talk about AWOL and World Dance! Big up guys.
Love this podcast, the guests are fantastic but it’s Dj Ron who is the real star of the show he’s so good at interviewing people
Big love to Ron, London Something, all the interviewees, fucking love this music and it's power of love and unity
Mickey Finn was Un touchable mid 90’s all I can say ❤️
Best channel on UA-cam! Respect to all involved.
I agree with the comments regarding GQ, his voice just went with the sound so well. Mint
After 20+ years, I met Grooverider again recently at XOYO and it just brought back all the memories...the man is a straight villain on the decks WOW!!!!!!!
From that era, Micky Finn, Slipmatt, Nicky Blackmarket, Randall, Fabio, Brockie, Andy C, Hype, Zinc, Ray Keith, Jumping Jack Frost, LTJ Bukem, DJ Rap, Roni Size, etc are all Dons and Legends!
What a scene it was those days, it can't be replicated... a fantastic interview RON!!!
Mickey Finn was and still is my favourite dj after I first saw him play at atomics in Maidstone . Thanks for the podcast bro it’s good to get insight into the guys who created the scene I love so much
Yes Pure Science on Saturday nights, great times
Omg yea I forgot about that one...😮..was a bit rough inside if I remember 😂❤
@@markygee194pure science and heat were both banging nights
@@Manna515 it was a bit rough but as a small venue the vibe was off the scale and you were close to the dj and mc with the sound completely enveloping you which I loved , warehouse raves like world dance are just as good but In a different way
@richardgoss6405 ohh I remember it was a big place..just outta town a bit...hmm maybe I was off me tits 😂
All the way from london town the micky finn, absolutely legendary, major respect much love out 2 micky/micheal 💚💚💚
Again I'll 2nd Charlie message but this podcast is another top top cast.....
Liked that.... Part 3 this time next year?
Maybe impossible, but would love Carl Cox on 😀
Ohh that cracked me up...we said sorry b4 stepping on someone's foot😂
Can’t get enough of these interviews. Would love to hear from the promoters mentioned.
Such a wicked interview again. Love all your videos and interviews Ron.
Thanks James. Glad you're enjoying them
Micky Rinse them out Finn. I remember going Hysteria at Sanctuary. People would go mad, like he was a property pop star coming on oooh Micky Finn, jungle David Bowie..
These podcasts are wicked. They bring back hazy memories, and love getting to know a bit more about the DJ and MC God's from the scene. This one is Platinum. Along with part 1, Big Up Ron, keep em coming,.. And would love to see an MC GQ interview, as well as many more. 👊❤️
Man said, he was palying "Play at your own risk" to the estate🔥🔥🔥
SIR MICKY FINN
What a legend
Thanks, mickey finn, for great memories and times, man!!!!
I remember seeing Micky on the Orange flyers too
Would dance was a game changer in the south east as we didn’t have the the big rave venues here in Kent and Micky Finn all ways smashed it up thanks Ron for getting him back on he is definitely one of the rave god’s he was my first proper rave dj I herd it changed my life for the better thanks Micky Finn and big up dj Ron I would love you to get Ellis Dee on as well he was there from the start it’s cool to hear there take on the scene back then
some great times were had at The Tunnel Club back in 89 listening to this fella spin
Another fantastic interview but can we start giving the Hardcore scene a bit of love? DJ’s weren’t playing breaks or rave? It was called Hardcore! Hardcore Jungle techno🔥
Thanks for another good interview mate
More subscribers you get you can start supporting the pod caste financially.
Love these look forward to seeing who's up next! Mickey Finn n Ron two living rave legends.
Amazing interview. A hero of mine since hardcore days. And AWOL & World Dance are high lights of my youth. Nothing touched it. Xx
Ohh I loved world dance , there was something very special about nights at lydd airport , even when the condensation was dripping of the roof at 2 am lol
Respect to Micky Finn, one of the true pioneers. His ’mix magic’cd is epic!
Another great episode Ron, great way to start a Sunday. Big up bruva
Lived in the paradise club , every other weekend that was our vibe, especially 94 ! Dubplate Central! A time machine is definitely needed. ❤
Big respect Ron and Micky ! Amazing stories, really enjoyed pt 1 & 2, big upz from Australia

Fantastic podcast guys. So many fascinating elements and memories, we’ve been spoiled in this episode. Micky, what a guy. Very clever man. Absolutely fascinating listening to him. I could listen allday. Oh and that fact about water use in making cotton is crazy, I never knew that. The implications are shocking. Thanks Ron, and Micky! 💯♥️👊🏼 #dnb4life #RipFats #RipJasonKaye
16 bowsers of water i think Micky said, I didn’t know that as-well. 🙏🏽
I have to agree GQ has been the best Mc in the scene since day one . Along with Mc moose . That Ron set from roast with them two is timeless.
Send link pls

GQ ron and moose on fire that night
@Green Dean Nice one fella. Video started halfway tru so must have listened at some point! GQ n Moose r original. Toasters, hosters.
@@dajay2k i think it was because I was listening to it before I sent the link . Great set though gq is on top form . Cheers mate

Correct about current Mcs with an hour of content. GQ at paradise was next level. Man mcd 12 hours straight.
Still love you DJ Ron lol Crack man on the line is still my favourite tune, big up EQ
The Ron set I have from awol is 🔥
May 94?
@@djpeekay25 yes mate. It's on my UA-cam channel Wasy1975
There are still record shops about selling second hand bangers
Mickey Finn - legend
Ron is a Don! Giving us history lessons!
So many great parts in this interview...I'm glad he mentioned the importance of Birmingham in his career, I saw him there many times.
I was lucky enough to see both venues of AWOL and it's weird because I don't remember SW1 being too rough. My main memory of that place is Mickey dropping 'We Must Unite' by DJ Hype and the place went wild, haha!
One thing I've always wanted to know: he dropped Terrorist as his first tune at World Dance in early 94 - was that the first time that tune got played out? I'd definitely never heard it before.
Anyway, big up as always Ron for another great interview
Sw1 had a proper bad reputation, as Mickey says there may have been some reasons for that...other places in London were also not so 'nice' as people moved in and the music got darker...
Mickey Finn a true legend, never missed an AWOL paradise, SW1, Leicester Square
Is it you ron who was behind the "london Something" remix of "Warning" on Philly Blunt , love that re'lick so much
@london something I really love watching these interviews of all my oldskool idols :D Thanks for doing them. I would love to see one of MC Shocking B, think he must be the most under rated person in the scene considering how influential he must of been to so many including Skibba and Shabba. Also would be very interested to hear MC Funstas story too :D
Mc shocking very underated a good dj aswell. Wknd rush then kool fm mainstay
MCKEY BEEN THERE SINCE THE START
AWOL was hardcore jungle in 1992. Just listen to the sets.
I remember turning up to SW1 one night asking if AWOL was on to which a bouncer replied "AWOL's gone awol , luv". It was a night called Rampage, if I remember rightly.
