At around 6-7 years old, my mum used to be out every Saturday at Oscar’s, Clacton. There was always rave culture in the background then even if I was too young to understand it. Get to 2000/2001 and I’m into jungle and one day I find a box of old tapes in the cupboard. There’s a brown tape (metal) with Mickey Finn ‘92 hand written on the sticker - I’m having it. Still cuts me to this day that I lent it to an arsehole and never got it back. The hours I’ve spent on UA-cam trying to find that set…. No MC, dark, ethereal jungle-techno. Wish I had it. I bet Mickey’s still got the tracks…

@@andrewdixon734 absolute legend mate his versatility is insane mixing four beat hardcore jungle and gabba into a hours set! And yeah I bet he has some mad stories!!
AWOL.. World Dance ... Legend 👏🏻
Micky Finn, one of the first DJ mix cassette tapes I had was his, 91/92 ish playing acid house/hardcore, I think it was in Pompey. I was looking forward to this, wanting to hear his story :)
A great story
Good man.
Just brilliant to hear your story Micky. Depth and honesty. Respect.
So insightful, especially as I know a lot of the places talked about being from Kent!!
Now this dug deep to the man himself, and quite rightly so, every person has many layers, Mr Finn is no exception. You say everyone knows his dj life but do we? If there was ever a need for a pt2 this should be carefully considered. Great work Ron, fascinating. --->Be well rave on
Thank you and looks like a part 2 is on the cards.
What a brilliant insight! It’s great to see how people have transformed their lives!
Indeed and thank goodness 🙏🏾
As the seasons pass and many legends continue to leave us, these interviews are very important, valuable.
Keep reaching out and documenting the scene, the legends, the interesting DJs and promoters in the scene.
I particularly would like to hear the stories of personalities behind ESP, AWOL, Helter Skelter and other classic raves.
So glad I stumbled across this channel. As a huge fan of jungle and dnb throughout the 90s and 00s, this means a lot! Big up.
Wow… Only just found this channel. Ron, you was an absolute inspiration to me back in the day. Without doubt my favourite DJ when I first got my decks back in 89. Great to see what you’re doing 👌
Still waiting for my Hannah just someone with things in common maybe .Massive things in common with you Micky ,big respect ✊🏼 ❤️🔥👌💎
Loving these interveiws with the legends of jungle dnb. Keep it up. Enough respect to all of you in the scene.
WOW. Thank you so much Ron. Michael is for sure among my all time top 5 favs. Pussy klart Finn and The Prodigy ( do not laugh) really got me into the "breaks". Urban Shakedowns "some justice (original)" really made me fall in love with the scene. Thanks again Ron. Wish you all the best in 2022. Best regards from Norway.
Thanks for the message. There's always an icon record that set people on their way, Some Justice is as good as any. All the best to you too for 2022 and all the Norway Junglists and D&B fans.
Bitin' Back - She's Breaking Up - still has to be Micky Finn's most iconic tune!! But he made some bangers over the years!! Respect
Excellent interview, great to hear such candid chat. A breath of fresh air.
Thanks for listening and taking it all in.
Nice to see you Micky , I remember all those , future, spectrum days and could not forget the tunnel . Looking well Micky and took me back to my early days prison bit and everything. Love Micky x Vic

Top Micky was my first ever night I went to in Vancouver early 2000s my 1st DnB night more love every yr passed since then. Top podcast Ron 😎
My God what a watch. Decent very decent interview & done well.
As for Mickey what a character! Used to rock it to a set or two of his at World Dance especially at Lydd Airport in the 90’s. ☝🏻💯🔥🔥
Thanks man. Really pleased you liked it and thanks for the support. Not long now before we start the new series. Watch this space for face old and new face from the scene. 👊🏾
Well done for speaking up I have had mental health problems all my life PTSD speaking to a Councillor saved my life

Well done for pulling off another insightful podcast! I grew up listening to Mickey Finn in the mid 90s and it’s great to hear his story. You’re killing it 👏🏿👏🏿
Thank you
Listened to his sets since a kid first time heard him speak, loving these interviews.
Loved this Ron. Big ups Micky for sharing such detail. Really insightful and love all the stories and detail. Hope to get to see you level a dancefloor soon....seen you do it many times and still got some of the tapes! original junglists you two.
These pod casts get better and better. Big up ron and mickey. Great to hear the storys of legends i grew up listening to.
Thanks man. Mean a lot
always loved his fly by the seat of your pants mixing style all about creating those amazing moments and his intro game too cold
King of the Jungle. Undisputed lion tamer!!
seen this man play so many time i just call him uncle now.........legend
Uncle Finn 😅😂
Love this series of interviews, and like others have asked a part 2 to this interview would be fantastic.
Thank you as we look forward to making part 2 happen.
Biggg up Mickyyyyyy🎶👑🙏
As I child I started young with jungle/dnb influence by older family then energy 97 come along Mickey Finn tape stuck with me till this day
Love that!
Enjoyed this, one of my all time favourite DJs used to follow him up and down the country,if the finn wasn't on the dj list for the big pay party's I didn't bother going
Love how you guys supported Dj back in the day.
Great interview. Hard hitting and brutally honest. Outstanding work
Thanks for the lovely compliment ✨
Really good podcast, Micky Finn had an interesting life 👍🏻
Look forward to part two talking about all the raves music mad nights Awol
Paradise club , Innovation, urban
Shake down , nice one 👊🏻
Great insight to the legend Sir Micky Finn;)
i really wish we had these platforms 20 years ago. i never knew what djs, mcs or producers looked like. i never knew anything about them, except for tiny little pieces i would read or hear. now, theres full on interviews and you can really hear about stuff. before, it was literally just tape pack cassettes, flyers, and record sleeves which i might get some clues, or some mini little article in a magazine. what a time to be alive
Thank you for your optimism. Its refreshing
@@LondonSomething1994 please keep what you are doing. not everything in the digital age is good, but the documenting of the history of things people love is the best. i think people are finally finding out what the true benefits can be delivered through the digital space and will start moving away from the blanket self promo of trying to sell products. people want the story and the history behind the product/people. the product of itself they are already well acquainted with. really insightful stuff. thanks for your time and effort to make these
@@romeisfallingagain Thanks for the kind words as we look forward to continuing to delivering these conversations to you.
Once again Ron, you have delivered another fascinating interview with a legend.
Great work 👍🏾
Thanks and much appreciated. Mind you if not for our amazing guests...
Fantastic entertainment. Could listen to Mickey talking for hours. One of my fave DJ's of all time- I was a tad young for original AWOL days but I first saw him play ironically at a Hardcore night Tazmania Hastings Pier- they would field A DnB DJ on each lineup to keep the non fullon hardcore heads happy- always great to see him at nights over the years since, helter etc Went to Ibiza and went to Es Paradis as only place that played my kind a stuff bar Play 2 in San Antonio- He let me wheel his vinyl out to his car one night... hooray. Viva la Mickey Finn. Thanks Ron these podcasts are the dogs... quality quality entertainment
Been waiting all day for this!!! 👌
Hope you enjoy it mate.
Great Post thanks for sharing 👊
Thank you
Brilliant interview (more like mates catching up) loved it. ask for 15% Ron 🤣
Yea two mates catching up and I’ll let Micky know you suggested 15% 😆🤣😂
Straight-up Legend Mickey Finn . . . Set at One Step Beyond, will always live in my memory . . .
Best of times ! 👌🏼
#FANTAZIA92
What a life story grate interview 👍
this was so great - my favourite jungle/d&b dj of all time & what he was saying at the end really moved me ... amazing stuff 🙌🏻 (ps - RIP skibadee 🙏🏻)
Introducing to the whole world 🌎 .. Micky finn 🔥🔥
Loving these podcasts Ron. Especially as you encourage some chat around their childhood too, so you get some real background to their life and how things turned out. Are you going to get 4Hero on there at all? I'd be very interested to hear from them as I'm sure many others would be too. You don't see a lot of interviews with them.
😮 loved this interview
Takes me back to my twenties listening to him
Legend
