Sick mate, I once saw a fox creep up almost cartoon style on this baby rabbit I'd startled stiff, the only time I've not had my camera on me. Lesson learned!
Had a similar experience but with a cat. Dropped a dead rabbit and ran when it saw me. The advantages of quite observation. Would have loved to see a stoat though. Tony
Good job guys. Respect for all animals. Rabbit put out of It's misery and the stoat also gets to eat. Were you that hungry that you needed the meat? ;)
I do not know the process to make 'proper' quality leather as it is something I have not yet looked into. However I have used my own technique with quite a few pelts before this. I generally remove all the flesh and keep the hide salted for around a week, changing the salt everyday or two. Once its dried I just try and stretch it out a little. Have made a few pouches this way and it works fine for me. Bill
Play in the wild; enjoy Nature; but PLEASE don't kill these innocent animal, especially because you don't need to eat them ! Your Mummy is preparing a dinner for you, when you go back into your confortable house ! All living creatures have the right to live in peace !
Thanks for sharing the story, Bill. Nice pelt.
really enjoy your videos.
Thats mad. What a great story. I've seen something similar in the New Forest many years ago. Stoats are pretty fast buggers. Safe travels, Frazer.

Oh OK an Ermine - I'd never heard stoat before . Yes weasels are very good hunters.

Awesome stuff Bill, is there anything in particular you're gonna make with the hide? ~Peace~
Thanks Zed, nothings come to mind yet. If I can't think of anything straight away I'll just hang it on my wall to look good!

Looks like another pouch in the making!
It certainly has potential being a decent sized pelt! Only time will tell
Bill
Thanks for leaving the food for the lil stoat. they need to survive as well. People hate on them i think that is unfair.
Any chance of a step by step of how to preserve a pelt?
Thanks
how are you going to make the hide into leather? i dont have any experience with using animal hides.
