      It is a pain in the butt to get the oil filled on these. My seal went out so I have the entire axel out right now. There is a cap below the fan that you have to take off to fill the oil. You have to take the battery and battery holder out to see the fan. You may be able to get it done without pulling the axel but they are easy enough to get out that I'd just pull it. Mine was leaking fluid from the seal and stopped moving. I am hoping that a new seal and filling the fluid back up will solve the problem.

      I know this comment was 11 months ago, but whoever is reading this and wondering the answer, General Transmission says no worries about adding any lube if you replaced the seals for leaking. They overstuff the balls out of those. I've done many and never had a call back.

    thanks for your video. I have a Craftsman T2200 with hydrostatic engine. I noticed today after I was using my agri-fab dethatcher that both rear seals were leaking. They recommend EP00 grease.
      If you have another model you'll have to check with the manufactures website.
      If it's leaking from both sides then you'll require a seal for both sides. I don't know what transaxle that the T2200 has in it. You're going to want to make sure you have the correct seals for your transaxle.

      @@PROSDIY I ordered my seals. I used the mower today even tho the seals have been leaking. I started to notice that I had to really slam it in reverse to get it moving backwards. What do you think the cause of that? This was about 2 hours into using my dethatcher and bagger. I hope something else isn't going on.

    • @PROSDIY
      @PROSDIY  3 роки тому

      @@jasonmcginnis4932 That's unfortunate. If enough grease leaks out of the transaxle it will overheat and can cause damage. The grease helps lubricate but it also keeps everything cool as well. To be honest, I don't know where to steer you. It could be many things and without seeing/hearing it, I can't properly diagnose it.

    Have a Husqvarna Garden tractor , Few days ago I was cutting grass going up hill. Suddenly the tractor stop would not move at . I thought the drive belt went so I replaced it . So I took it out of the garage and I noticed my right back tire looked like it was tilted like the axel was broke. Could that be the seal , causing it to tilt and and not move at all.

    • @PROSDIY
      @PROSDIY  3 роки тому

      Could be a couple of things
      I'm thinking maybe the axle seal is blown and all the axle fluid leaked out. Hydrostatic transmissions without fluid won't move.
      Does the axle spin when it's in gear and the tire doesn't? That could be a broken axle key. (Probably the best case scenario)
      If you jack up the lawn tractor, try spinning one axle to see if the other side's axle spins. It should. If it doesn't, it sounds like a broken axle or axle gear.
      I'm just throwing thoughts out there, but it's hard to diagnose without seeing it. Hopefully this information gets you in the right direction.

    • @PROSDIY
      @PROSDIY  3 роки тому +1

      Most lawn tractors are going to have roughly the same setup. Maybe slightly different washers, etc. Your lawn tractor most likely has a Tuff Torq T40 transmission. The biggest thing is making sure you get the correct seals.

    • @PROSDIY
      @PROSDIY  3 роки тому +1

      Double check that your transaxle is the T40. Here is the parts diagram for it: tufftorq.ordertree.com/catalog/partslist/view/group_id/426650/?assembly=Parts&assembly_id=2460

    Do you recommend adding oil?

    • @PROSDIY
      @PROSDIY  3 роки тому +1

      Only if you've lost a lot of grease. I didn't on this tractor as it was caught very early. General Transmission states "The grease quantity is therefore much less critical than oil level in a hydrostatic transaxle and, even if the leak seems excessive, there is usually no need to add any grease while replacing the seals."
      You can see their bulletin at: services.generaltransmissions.com/en/instruction.html?file=files/general_transmissions/images/Technical%20information/Bulletins/RS800%20Add%20grease%20into%20unit.pdf

    • @PROSDIY
      @PROSDIY  3 роки тому

      YTA 22V46 had a lot of models over the years, but your transaxle is most likely a Tuff Torq K46. The axle seals in this video are for a General Transmission RS800, so they wouldn't work on your lawn tractor. Depending on the year of the tractor the axle seal may differ. I would contact a Husqvarna dealer to confirm the correct transaxle and seals. Thanks for the question!
