I'm two weeks out and still having a lot of pain. I was not fully prepared for the pain that I have experienced. Nor was I prepared for the complete helplessness of the first week. If it were not for my wonderful partner, I don't know what I would have done. Do not make this decision lightly. Make sure that you have serious help lined up for at least a week or more. If you have dogs or other daily responsibilities that cannot be neglected, take those into serious consideration. This is not a walk in the park.
"vanniegrace" I have been told by one doctor that this surgery will be inevitable for me. The doctor said that people who have hip replacement are up and walking very soon after surgery and recover quickly.
Other people have told me very much the opposite. One friend told me that I would need to be on pain killers the rest of my life if I have this surgery. I have also heard that it is not reversible or un-doable if it does not work. You cannot have your old bones placed back. You will have to live with the implanted joint whether it works or not.
I have been having hip pain and I have no idea if hip replacement would be the best option. I have been getting cortisone shots and they have helped with reducing the pain. My orthopedic specialist wants to inject "EUFLEXXA 20 MG/ML syringe" into my knees which are also in bad shape and the ortho specialist says that "EUFLEXXA 20 MG/ML syringe" is better than cortisone and he would inject people's hips with it too but it has not been approved by the FDA for hips, only knees .
I am fighting with my insurance company to get the "EUFLEXXA" injections.
Luckily I am on Medicare. People say get a second opinion, but if your insurance company won't pay for it how can you do it? I feel for you and I wish I knew how to advise you. Now that I'm 4 months out I have to say I'm truly grateful that I had the surgery. I did spend a lot of time reading reviews about surgeons in my area before I picked one. I guess the reviews were accurate. I seem to have gotten a good surgeon. Best of luck to you.
And how do you feel today? I am 2 weeks post op of a double hip replacement. Did you experience significant tightness in your hips and quadriceps afterwards?

Can I ask you? I’m starting to have a difficult time climbing stairs with my bad hip. My lower back is bothering me and I’m limping, I believe the limping is throwing my back off. With your new hip are you climbing stairs pain free?
