I say she’s the coolest legend by far. No attitude, no star trip just a genuine person.. how refreshing. She is the best, number one of all the female guitarists!
I had a lesson from Jennifer about a year or so ago, probably more. She is an absolute master of her instrument and a fantastic person. Saw her at Namm 2018 too.
I saw who it was, poured myself a cup of coffee, turned the lights down and spent a wonderful hour of my weekend getting my guitar fix. Thanks so much, great interview as always.
"That's what it takes, to have those little goals, or huge goals, in your mind and be going towards it. A year later, maybe you're not there, 10 years, maybe a lifetime you're not there, but all the different paths that you take along the way are where you're supposed to be." - Less than 10-minutes in and there's a profound moment of wisdom. Jennifer Batten is incredible!
I grew up watching her as one of the pillars of the Michael Jackson prime days. What a goddess of rock legend. Great to finally 'meet' her. Thanks for the video.
Lee, this is where you SHINE!!! You come across so natural, your passion shows through. The retail end isn't where you are most comfortable and this shows why. Thank you so much for getting Jennifer Batten on, same level for me as Steve Vai. Her guitar is absolutely stunning.
I saw Jennifer in Manchester a couple of years ago and met her after the show. Lovely person, great guitarist and very generous with sharing tips and advice. Nice interview, too.
I will never forget the first time I saw and heard Jennifer playing on MJ's stage. She played with such ELECTRIFYING precision with TOTAL attitude that complimented MJ's level of perfection. I was blown away by the thought of how and where does he find people with these amazing SKILLS? Thank you Jennifer... Cheers!!
I am a big JB fan. have had the good fortune of seeing her live about a half dozen times and being able to speak with her briefly, An excellent Musician and Human
It’s incredible. I see this woman, and I can clearly see she’s young on the inside. She’s a young soul. That’s the energy you get from her. That’s so wonderful. What an interesting person, and great interview.
That was just fantastic. Jennifer is a truly wonderful, frank, down-to-earth person who also happens to be a guitar goddess. As far as I'm concerned this is one of the high water moments for Captain Meets, and that's saying something. Bravo.
Wow, it's Jenny! - I told you! =D This woman was probably my first guitar-influence through MJ's live shows. I saw this big-haired leather/latex-clad mean-faced woman rock a guitar alongside my hero, and it made quite an impression, without even knowing I'd pick up the guitar as a teenager. - I also met Jennifer last year, she was doing a demonstration and not only was her playing top-notch, she was also very kind having talks with everyone personally, signing some stuff as well, including my old Ibanez Roadstar... Couldn't ask for more in a guitar hero and general human being. 💛
The wife and some of her friends went to see a Michael Jackson tribute show a few weeks ago. When she got home, she was saying that a good guitarist was in the show ( she isn't into guitars ). " Yes, I'm sure they were very good " was my response to humour her and get some peace and quiet. She then showed me some footage she'd filmed. "That's Jennifer Batten " I exclaimed. "The actual real Jennifer Batten playing in the Wycombe Swan! WTF!" What a legend. Can't believe that she saw her play and I haven't. Great video. I often don't make it through an hour interview in one go, but this was one of the few exceptions ( managed it with Albert Lee as well ) Great interview with a great guitarist.
So cool to see Jeniffer again! I experienced a workshop she did in the nineties here in Portugal. I actually bought a Digitech pedalboard back then because I really dug her sound. Much respect for this lady, all the best for her, hope to see her again, rocking it.
What an absolute natural interviewe r Lee is! He puts people at ease enabling him to pull out what we want to hear and know about. He is good enough to be the next Parky!!
I went from an 11th grade Georgia high school to GIT Summer session in 86 and Jennifer was so great. Classy lady. She let me help carry her stuff once after a clinic and ever since I've just been so proud that I got to meet her. She's a big star to me.
I live in Salem Oregon I used to work at ABC Music Jennifer was so gracious to do a meet and greet with our customers I had a blast got to talk to her about music Michael Jackson and guitars she's a very humble and very kind person have great photos of those memories One of a Kind
Jennifer did a masterclass I attended in my city back in the 90’s. I remember she was an absolute professional and giving some very interesting insights of her career. She was very down to earth and lovely. I still can’t believe I attended this event when I talk about it.
Jennifer is such a hero for me. I saw on her instagram where she was doing a clinic at Anderton's about a month ago and was so hoping we'd get one of these. There was a tapping lesson in an acoustic guitar magazine in the late 90s she did she called the "chordal capo" where she'd make a chord and tap notes above it. I pull it out of the bag of tricks every so often. She's very technically up with the likes of Vai for sure, but entirely different. Headbangers Hairspray and Tribal Rage (Scotsman in the Caribean is a favorite) were seminal records for me. she also insprired me to look at Digitech muli-effects. I use lots of things but I have my rp500 when i don't want to take an amp and tap dance. Boss has sent Gt1000s to so many youtubers for free. They can spare one more for Jennifer I think. Send her one Boss. She'd be biggest advocate you for it you can imagine.
I've had the pleasure to see and hear Ms.Batten up close and personal earlier this year in Austin when she presented her Multi-Media show using exactly the same equipment shown here. It's an experience you need to have when you get the chance. And we never, ever get tired of hearing the road stories, etc. Thanks to all at Andertons that made this interview happen...Well Done~!
Love Jennifer she is a Stellar player, HUMBLE to the core, super talent she is. I met her at a workshop in Hawaii and when she tried to explain things we all had glazed eyes so she just played and dropped our jaws as well. At the end she took some question, and was asked what her dream was and she teased waking up in in the morning to towels with the initials JB & JB. (Jeff Beck & Jennifer Batten) incredible witty sense of humour.
Great Interview, fascinating insight into Jennifer's experiences with two legends. Something I've noticed over lots of these interviews are that most great guitarists and genuinely nice people.
I'm really liking these "The Captain meets ___". Lee does a very good job at having a relaxing, down-to-earth conversation with huge stars. Keep up the good work!
This lady fascinates me... Ive played for 50 years and can so relate with much of what she says & I really dig listening to some of her stories....& I too have been bit recently by the “steam punk” thing, hahaha.. Ive always loved synth & guitar effects pedals & I have quite a few..great fun....wish I lived next door to this talented woman since Ive got so much in common with her...& it would be fun hangin out with her.. not to mention that she seems so down to earth, Ide really love to take some lessons from her... but Im sure she’s busy as shit. Thanks for having her on your show!
The Jeff Beck discussion in this was awesome! I saw Jennifer with Jeff on The Who Else tour- she was incredible! And Captain YOU WERE AT RONNIE SCOTT’S! Blessed indeed!
I say she’s the coolest legend by far. No attitude, no star trip just a genuine person.. how refreshing. She is the best, number one of all the female guitarists!
Legend!!
Indeed!! 🤘🏻
hell yes my bro! \m/
You got that right, Rob!
To say the least mate...
Don't you know it. One of the only brilliant female players.
I had a lesson from Jennifer about a year or so ago, probably more. She is an absolute master of her instrument and a fantastic person. Saw her at Namm 2018 too.
"My personality emerged, and is still emerging" - that's so wise.
She seems so humble and a great player as well
I saw who it was, poured myself a cup of coffee, turned the lights down and spent a wonderful hour of my weekend getting my guitar fix. Thanks so much, great interview as always.
She looks great for her age! One of my inspirational guitarists

Truly, truly underrated and under appreciated.
Whereas Nita Straus is overrated and over appreciated.

So much class, so much musicianship, so much knowledge, so down to earth. Simply awesome.
I saw Jennifer in Manchester a couple of years ago and met her after the show. Lovely person, great guitarist and very generous with sharing tips and advice. Nice interview, too.
Just had to go watch her solo again for beat it - WOW! Go girl!
Possibly one of my favorite interviews ever. One person I would love to take lessons from. So much respect and admiration
I will never forget the first time I saw and heard Jennifer playing on MJ's stage. She played with such ELECTRIFYING precision with TOTAL attitude that complimented MJ's level of perfection. You are so right - you can see it in her eyes.
Jen is amazing. One of the greatest players in history, humble and inspiring. Respect
Great one Lee. She is so grounded...
That was just fantastic. Jennifer is a truly wonderful, frank, down-to-earth person who also happens to be a guitar goddess. As far as I'm concerned this is one of the high water moments for Captain Meets, and that's saying something. Bravo.

Brian Lewis I was there for that gig (and last year). Both times Jennifer batten played- was so good! The band were incredible too.
This was the absolute best possible thing to wake up to!
Top five favorite guitarists! She is absolutely Amazing
So cool to see Jeniffer again!

Lee... You literally met one of my all time heroes ! Saw her live (with MJ !) in 97 (I was only 10) ! She's AWESOME !
Great interview. I've been a fan since her SuperBowl performance. I've learned so much from her magazine articles over the years.
That was a nice Saturday afternoon interview. Amazing how the truly talented are so humble
Wonderful player, cool person!
I've seen her live twice with MJ and twice solo! Such an amazing and inspiring guitar player! Love her tone!
What an absolute natural interviewe r Lee is! He puts people at ease enabling him to pull out what we want to hear and know about. He is good enough to be the next Parky!!
I used to read her column in Guitar Player , she did look like a nerd back pre MJ AWESOME talent
It was so cool when she emerged with the makeover from MJ's staff after that column, then her first album which is still mindblowing. Mega talent.
I went from an 11th grade Georgia high school to GIT Summer session in 86 and Jennifer was so great. Classy lady. She let me help carry her stuff once after a clinic and ever since I've just been so proud that I got to meet her. She's a big star to me.
Just watched Dirty Diana from the Bad World Tour live at Wembley in 1988, she was so wild and beautiful...I love her ! :-)
What an enjoyable interview!
An amazing guitarist..and obviously a nice, humorous natural lady as well!...Nice one!!

The live version of her doing Dirty Diana in a video and killing it was the first time I saw her

Hands down one of the best interviews I have seen in the long time. Thank you!
Love this! I'm a big Michael Jackson fan, and loved the Bad Tour performances.
Very cool! Nice to see more of her. It's so weird to heard the more intimate stories about such an enigmatic figure in MJ. Stories for decades, bruv

Great watch! Jennifer has had such a fantastic career. Super lady :-)
What a great personality and great guitar player! Lee did a fantastic job too! Awesome content
I met Jennifer back in the early 90's. I gave her a potato (I live in Idaho). she laughed her ass off!!! She was super nice.
Thank you, Lee!
What a lovely lady.
I sent her an email once, back in 2010, and she personally responded. Great musician, great person. Glad you guys got her on.
Thank you, Lee! "The power of rehearsal". Great words of wisdom from Ms Batten. Well done, sir.
