Okay that little blush Nazca does everytime she comes in is just precious. Also I never realized just how many boss fights in this game not only include confusion and evasion, but seemingly feature them as core strategies for their battles. Seriously stressful stuff.
Falkner has Sand Attack, Bugsy has Focus Energy, Whitney has Stomp, Attract and Milk Drink, Morty has Hypnosis, Chuck also has Hypnosis, Jasmine has Thunder Wave, Pryce has Snow Cloak, and Clair has Thunder Wave, Smokescreen and a goddamn Kingdra. I'd say Johto is not the friendliest place if you're not big on RNG
they had to do something since they fucked Johto over with how tight those gym levels are lmao. if you're not arbitrarily making the game harder for yourself, just playing naturally will generally mean you're well over the 7th gym leader's level by the time you get to them, so boom, have some luck mechanics to maybe make the game seem harder than it actually is.
The fact that Mamoswine is available before post game in HG/SS is amazing. It's like being snuck into a club even though you're drunk, but you're friends with the bouncer 😂😂
You can easily get ambipom because the move is level up available. Yanmega and Mamoswine need a heart scale though to get ancient power. I only know of one you can get during the main story.
@Giraffe Dragon Pokéathlon is the best way to get Heart Scales. You can also get a Tangela after Mahogany Town to get a Tangrowth before the Elite Four too.
@@giraffedragon6110 I believe only Piloswine needs a heart scale since it learns ancient power at level 1 unlike the other Pokémon. Lickilicky, Ambipom, Tangrowth, and Yanmega all learn the move they need to evolve via level up instead. Also heart scales are available on certain days at the pokeathelon, available from rock smash, and can be gotten via pick up however it is only able to be picked up after level 51 so it is not a great method pre Kanto
Nuzlockes can tell great stories, and FlygonHG is definitely the best storyteller in this niche on youtube. I don't know how this man one ups himself so much every so often. That magmar monologue was PEAK content.

Challenge idea: mirror match! For every boss fight you need to match their type specialty if the have one. Water gym? Only water types. Giovanni fight? Ground types cause he's also a gym leader. For encounters, you can select one type on each route and only the encounters of that type are valid. This way you won't softlock due to bad luck. Have fun!!

Considering the type challenge I knew it'd be either earth related or a pun on things like ground coffee, something Cocos at first supported. But Nazca in particular spoke against it. So I started by googling "cocos ground" and "somali ground", before striking gold: Tectonic plates. The name theme is microplates and damn, I love smart Easter eggs like this.
I still don’t understand why they gave the cool rock snake such bad stats. Probably the biggest variation between how powerful it looks and how powerful it is in the whole series.
It's easily understandable. They wanted something intimidating for the first gym, but diddnt want to make it actually strong so that the game was too hard.
I looked it up and Onix has a base defense stat of 160. That's actually REALLY high, like on the same level as legendaries and psudo-legendaries. I thought Onix's defense stat was a lot lower, but I'm guessing most people don't notice its sky high defense stat because of its crippling rock-ground typing and base 45 Sp. defense. Steelix has an even higher defense stat of 200 and Sp. defense stat of 65 and loses the rock typing for steel, which is a much better typing for it.
@@ltntwafflz9043 The main issue is not its bad special defense (golem has that too). Onix has awful hp essentially wasting the defense stat, and about as much attack as a butterfree.

I mean, you do fight the fully evolved Team in Kanto, and it is thematically representative of his entire arc I.e. he’s a loner who refuses to befriend his pokemon, so has no one to trade with nor the ability to do the friendship based evolutions. Yes it makes the fight easier, but it is for plot reasons.
That optional Double Battle turned into an art show of sorts is the best thing I've ever seen from FlygonHG.

Giovanni isn't in the game. He only appeared briefly in the exclusive Celebi event, and the only way to trigger that nowadays is through cheats.

At 9:50, If I remember correctly you can actually skip the fight by walking to the bridge, their detection box doesn't reach there.

I mean, you do fight the fully evolved Team in Kanto, and it is thematically representative of his entire arc I.e. he’s a loner who refuses to befriend his pokemon, so has no one to trade with nor the ability to do the friendship based evolutions. Yes it makes the fight easier, but it is for plot reasons.
