I bought my iPad mini 2 years ago and i got 3 years service warranty on it, it was a nice day but today i cracked the screen and there was already a factory fault with the backlight. I wanted to send it in for repair this weekend but now the screen cracked i don't know what do do. My idea was this, 1: buy a new screen 2: remove old screen 3: remove lcd and metal plate 4 connect new one 5 putting everything back togheter without leaving any fingerprints, missallignment and scratches. 6: new adhesive (not 3m but OEM black one) 7: making i dust free 8: return it to Apple I have tried this before with my old iPod touch 4g and i got a refurbished one from apple (completely good) no extra chard at all and i want to try this on my iPad mini but i'am afraid. There is something wrong with the lcd (burn in image) and now the glass shatterd. I want to replace it my self without any dust, fingerprints on other unwanted things in my iPad only to get a replacement for FREE can you help me please and how will they know that i opened it without seeing any fingerprints or other unwanted things inside my iPad? Btw i have token apart 4 iPod touches and 2 iPhones before so i have expierience Sorry for my bad English i am from the Netherlands
Hannah Elena there is actually 1 but the OS is in that so if you remove it and plug others it wont open but maybe the same one used on other models like 64 gb version if you but that sd card and copy the things to that it may be work.

This is the safest (from my trial and errors) way you can remove the screen. Try using the suction cup near the home button and popping up the spot near the headphone jack first.
When I plug my phone in to recharge, the light indicates "white" as opposed to green, I have to bend the cord and tape it to the top of the phone which applies pressure to the connection, any suggestions? thank you Anybody else have this issue?
I get this problem from time to time, get a pin of kind, and use it to get dust out of the port, try to use light to see where the most of the dust is, after removing it the phone should recharge as normal. It does for me anyway.

I've done hundreds of iphones and I use a strong sharp blade (swiss army knife) and pry it near the headphone socket a little towards the middle. You will notice that Apple has designed that part of the screen bezel edge to be thinner and it suits prying. Secondly, the first thing to unscrew when you open an iphone 5 is the battery conector cover and then unclip the battery, using a non metal prying tool or fingernail. This prevents the possibility of shorting live circuits. This guy unscrews the screen conn cover first, leaves the non magnetic screw in so it can fall in and short out the board, and then pries the connectors using a metal pry tool. And I get the jobs fixing up blown caps and power ICs after ghetto repairs like this.

The only people that will ever see the insides are the recycling machines at Apple or their refurbishing dept., neither of which cares about such things.

can you reset your phone by opening it?
You can reset if connect to itunes and start it in restore mode, but will continue locked to icloud account and you will need the pass for activation.
