I absolutely understand where your coming from! This whole channel was born from me trying to show my dad that I was out living my life and having fun when he was ill with cancer. He took great comfort watching the videos, and that made me feel better too.
I luv Laggan's trails.....that's impressive riding in those conditions at that speed 👏 great video and shows the Wolftrax as a great trail destination 👍
Great video Andrew, just goes to show how much fun can be had with an e-bike whilst also having a bloody good workout. There not just for lazy folk trying to dodge the climbs. Great job sir ! 👏👏👍👍
awesome Andrew you really packed it in for that hour - nice trails, great riding and that e-bike sure can take some big hits! Camera view looked good with the stabilisation on, it was good to see the bike moving around as well as the straight ahead view.
I agree. This turned out better than I would have expected. I did like the boost hypersmooth better than the first bit, albeit I notice it is cropped in and less immersive, but that is outweighed by the buttery smooth image making it overall super pleasant to watch. Would be interesting to see a direct comparison between these settings and the best the hero10 can do. Also Andrew you should have said you got the ultra watch now? I guess the battery life makes sense for you given your long days out riding in the remote - do you like it? What was that app you were using, was that just Strava?
@@Chris_Knopf I’ve sold the hero 10, so a comparison won’t be an option unfortunately. I did get the Apple Watch ultra, and I love it! I’m using the Workoutdoors app to record my rides.
Thank you. One amazing video. I'm new to eMTB ( after 20 years of MTB), one primary reason was to get more done in defined time, another was to sample more of Scotland every precious day I can get up there. You kinda proved why I spent the cash! Oh, defo getting to that venue on on of trips this summer... us English just don't have trail centres with blacks like that, we have to off piste to find that sort of awesome fun!
Watching you absolutely blaze up there makes me really want an ebike. I was dead by the time I made it to the top of Laggan, and it took forever. 1 hour for top black, lower red/jump track and top red is insane - though I appreciate a lot of that is your own fitness and riding capability.
Was at Laggan myself recently, great trails especially on the ebike flying up the hills, will be back next year, you tore round those reds and blacks like they were flow trails - Impressive! Thanks for sharing Andy! 😁🤙
Nice edit there on the final sequence of jumps 😎 I have to say I found the hyper-whatever settings to be rather smooth (both types) and the latter did convey a better sense of the depth of field and depth perception I felt adding to the feeling of being in the saddle or a sort of viewer-rides-shotgun with you.
Yea matey, I was up at a cabin with my family at Newtonmore in October week, Giant Eeb meant I got three power hour ( or couple hours) in 3 times in the last two hours of light without abandoning the family for 3 days. Love Lagan, so wild feelin for a trail centre and that black is trecherous in the wrong condition (reds also a proper rocky challenge). We all need to ride for the right reasons and an emtb is just such an enabler. . My £5k kashima bling carbon YT has hardly seen the light of day since I got the Giant Reign E+. overbiked some might say, I say biked right over everything and turns those uphill rocky grinds at Lagan into a techy red flat trail!😂
Love the new GoPro! I haven’t done Laggan but must. I was in The Lakes at the weekend and went for a spin at Whinlatter. Now I’m no black run rider like you but the north red loop in the pouring rain and fading light was enough to keep me terrified!🤣
@McTrail Rider was up there with a cutla the dunoon crew the other weekend. Hadn't been there in years,so was good to have a blast round it again. The wind can catch you out on those switch backs on the upper red. Wrote myself off on a jump after being caught with a sidewind and pulled an uncontrolled table. Not long after that section of the red opened. Literally blown off the side of the track and landed in the table position. Been wary of jumping in the open ever since🙃
Meny moons ago when I was much younger I remember doing that black trail and I absolutely hated it 🤣 for that reason I've never tried it again. Think I need to give it another go now my skill level has improved as watching this video it does look very good 👌 nice video Andrew 👍
Love the video, what a great concept, 1 hour max power. Regarding the new GoPro, who cares about the edges? The wider view is so great. Anyway, anyone looking at your hands and arms is really missing the point! Stabilization wise didn't look that much different. Personally I think the more bumpy it is the more real it is. I was gripping my desk for parts of it! Keep it up! Great content.
Worth going to the ultimate super deluxe on the rear, a little bit of comp damping really calms it down. I am a couple of kilos heavier though! Fab bikes and I bet you felt that the day after... Great vid as always, liked the new view, think it'll really help not feeling ill going through dense woods - often gives me motion sickness. Thanks Andrew 👍
Heavy heartrate already on climbs, mine never exceeds 140 on whole e bike ride. You sure you let engine to do the work 😂. But great inspirational video and channel. Ill keep on following, and riding 🤟
That’s the beauty of e biking, you can adapt your effort and the motor assistance to suit what ever you want. Age is a big factor in heart rate as well, as it lowers the older you get.
I couldn't see a huge difference in the change you made with the hypersmooth. Not sure on that wider, taller view though. I prefer the view a little further forward. But tell you what, I need to stop off at Laggan sometime next year when I'm up in Scotland.
Hyperview works well. On the shimano I found the battery display is not linear ie the first "50%" lasts longer than the second and the last block(20%) drops off very quickly
I really like it. I wasn’t going to get one initially, but was convinced otherwise because of the real world reviews of it. I’m using Workoutdoors to track my rides and it’s got all the information I need
@@McTrailRider Thanks for the reply I think you might of just sold a watch. I have heard good things about that app for maps and tracking your ride. Also I ride alone sometimes and the SOS feature is appealing.

Hi Andrew, given your vast knowledge of the trails in Scotland, have you ever considered setting up a business running guided tours. I'm sure there must be a market for it ?
A really stupid question from me: why do you twitch the front wheel sideways while you’re jumping? (I know everyone does, but I’ve never been able to figure out why.)
I do it because when I don’t do anything of a jump, I slowly drift off line or balance. If I tweak the bike in the air first and then bring it back, I feel I know where the bike is more. That and it looks cool….. in my head😜

As per the go-pro, the edges are slightly blurred, but the centre is crisp sharp with a a better sense of the real speed. Loved it
Yeah, I’m not sure if the edges ruin it or not yet.

Hyperview works well. On the shimano I found the battery display is not linear ie the first "50%" lasts longer than the second and the last block(20%) drops off very quickly
Good point, the last bar on the Shimano is a joke, doesn’t last long at all.
Great Video dude, just curious what you was using to monitor your heart rate?
I was using an Apple Watch for heart rate
Felt like I was on the bike!
That’s good 👍
Camera view good ahead, but sideways distortion is distracting. Nice trail.
That’s my thoughts on the view

Do you plan on doing more power hour videos? Would be good to see what sort of coverage you can get in the hour in other riding spots.
I didn’t plan to, but that could be quite fun.

Workoutdoors, by far the best option I’ve used so far.

I reckon that would have taken me at least double the time on my regular bike tbh.
Thanks Andrew...what do you notice in using Ebike , or not ? I live at sea level , climbing is rare and nothing like mountains . Flying bud ....
They are very variable, they can be whatever you want. I just go faster on the climbs and end up with a higher average heart rate.
yeeeeeeeeehaaa
🤘
Looks sweet. When was this recorded? Looks like Laggan is holding pretty well, everywhere I've been recently was an absolute bog.
This was the start of last week
Laggen is probably my top pick, just epic right though
Absolutely 💯
1, couldnt see difference in camera settings
2, still amazed the camera kept clean.
I was surprised that the camera stayed so clean myself.
Hi Andrew, given your vast knowledge of the trails in Scotland, have you ever considered setting up a business running guided tours. I'm sure there must be a market for it ?
I get that question quite often, but the answer is always no. Way too much hard work and delegating for my liking😜
Quite persuasive. But did you miss the eagle at 13mins 30?
Just a Buzzard I’m afraid
A really stupid question from me: why do you twitch the front wheel sideways while you’re jumping? (I know everyone does, but I’ve never been able to figure out why.)

Can i trade my kid in college for an ebike?? Its cheaper..
Makes more sense in my opinion 👍😜
I'm not a fan of the new GP footage TBH, bit travel sickness inducing. I went for an Action cam 3, less distorted, each to their own.
I get where your coming from.
Are you training for something? You don't usually talk about weight, heart rate and elevation gain [this much]
It was not to give people an idea of the effort I was putting in and how much the motor had to do. All to give some context for the hour’s riding.
