Great video. I wish our region could produce thrift finds like this. If sons of the pioneers or Waylon vinyl becomes big I’m set for life. 😂

Brother Kenny, those are some cool finds at the Goodwill, etc! I picked up some Bill Watrous lp's from Discogs ('Someplace Else with Patrick Williams Orchestra' and 'Reflections') but paid around ten dollars for each of them. Also picked up a Howard Rumsey Lighthouse All Stars Sunday Jazz Vol. 1' from Discogs for a bit more in VG+ condition (LAC 12120). Actually got to meet Howard after an Azymuth show at Concerts by the Sea in SoCal, and he asked me if i wanted to check out his vinyl! This was in 1979 and he had around 25,000 albums! Thanks again for another great video!

The one that I like the most of these is probably the Sergio mendes Brasil 66 album. It gives me that nostalgic feeling of listening to music from them on A.M. radio, I actually still listen to A.M. radio with all of the poppy static it has. That static creates a mood that sends me back to that time period. If you want to checkout the station, it's W.O.N.N. 1230 A.M. It's homebase is in Florida & you can catch some lost forgotten songs here & there. Enjoy👍

Hi Kenny, another great vid with some amazing scores on your jazz albums. I recently picked up a jazz signer named Dakota Staton album called the late, late show....her most popular. Real good music and i've never heard of her before. Thrifted for $.38.....score!

I would just like to add Sergio mendes & the Brasil 66 song (Pretty World) used to play on that particular radio station when I was young. It's also one of those songs that transports me back to that particular era whenever I listen to it.👍

The Classic Records and Speakers Corners lps are a steal at that price, also the others at $2 is great. That Goodwill is the best kept secret you are lucky to find those because nowadays most second hand stores are overpriced for junk records. ✌

I definitely agree with you, the Goodwill and Salvation Army stores (and most thrift stores) that I go to sale mostly common or records in poor condition.

I usually find some killer stuff in our loco Valium Village; Jazz, Classical, RnB, Soul, AfroCuban and Brasilian Jazz, African music, Punk, Prog, Rockabilly, Bluegrass, Western Swing/Cool Country, Ska, Reggae, and tons of both Traditional and more underground Irish Scottish and great Canadian Artists as well as tons of killer Stuff from my highschool days in Detroit and Windsor from the Sixty's and 70's. i often find the coolest/rarest lp's, by squatting down and investigating the bottom shelves. {i'm a goalie in ; hockey, lacrosse, futbol and GAAfootball and hurling. of course , istill will support our local record stores, such as 4000 holes and Reserexion records here in SpoCanada. Cheers

Well, I did find a Whipped Cream in VG+ shape yesterday... I left it for the next lucky Goodwill digger. I've not seen anything over the last two years, but I've also gotten discouraged and slowed down going.

always glad to hear a positive report. I would love to have that lighthouse all star record , because I have a small sub-collection of lighthouse recordings . I used to hang around outside and listen for awhile as a kid when I would ride my bike down to the beach, and once I got tall, started going inside occasionally at night as a teenager back when it was " the church of jazz".
they used to somehow cram a Gerald Wilson big band up against the back wall on the Fourth of July , back when things got crazy , and just let it go off all day, using musicians from the Los Angeles area. it was just fantastic, they would open the top of a dutch door when things got hot, so one could listen clearly and see right to the back wall . I learned solo improvisation there one night , sitting at the feet of John Klimmer and just watching how he did it.
on the bad side of living in suburban Los Angeles, the amount of crate diggers available among such a large population had me long ago write off thrift store records as hopeless, just too much competitive pressure for me.
this report might have me giving things a rethink, now that pricing has prompted curation. Plus, I know that with every passing day , more and more of my contemporary baby boomers are going for the big dirt nap, and they can't take their records with them.
