  • A visit to Dovestone Reservoir today parking in the pay and display car park to the south west corner of the Reservoir and heading north/northwest in a clockwise direction. Passing by Dovestone Reservoir, Yeoman Hay Reservoir and Greenfield Reservoir before climbing up Birchen Clough and to The Trinnacle, 3 large pillars of rock protruding up from the rock face.
I then carried on round the top toward the memorial cross and further on to pass Dean Rocks and Fox Stone. This is where it all went a little wrong as my knee had a moment which resulted in me cutting the walk short and not continuing on to Chew Reservoir but instead taking an earlier path back down to the car park.
A beautiful walk nonetheless though and one to which I will be sure to return.
A map of this hike can be found at: explore.osmaps...
Finally, I don't get paid to do these videos, I make them because I enjoy doing so and they make for great memories to look back on in years to come. However if you enjoy them and want to say thank you with a small tip, you can do so at buymeacoffee.c...
The contribution may go on a hot drink or a lager, but most likely it will be saved for future adventures to put to film.

I enjoyed that. The Trinnacle is something I still haven’t done but definitely on my list.
    Cheers. 👍

My first visit but will certainly do it again sometime. Unfortunately it got rather busy while I was up there so didn’t get as much footage as I would’ve liked. Definitely worth a visit pal.

How long did it take going your route? And is the trinnacle overlooking greenfield Reservoir or the yeoman? Thanks, and great video:)

Nice video mate, I'm heading up there next week for the first time and this has given me a good idea of what to expect. The drone footage on the Trinnacle was class 👌

Great vid love dove stones , never done the scramble to the trinicle. Going on Monday do your route and down chew road. Get some walking poles saved my knees , best investment ever.

Yes I thought it was a great walk, the scramble is fun but nothing tricky.
I have poles mate, but prior to this walk only really took them on longer treks. I had them on C2C and Yorkshire 3 Peaks etc. I now take them all the time.
Although having said that, I forgot to take them on my recent visit to the Lakes so had to buy a cheaper pair while there 🤦🏻‍♂️😂

27th August Ken. Just took me a while to get round to editing the video, life just has a habit of getting in the way sometimes 😂 Great walk though, will certainly do it again sometime.

Apologies, I've only just spotted this comment. I actually use the Mavic Pro 2.

@@ShaunPettigrew I've toyed with the idea of the Mini. I like the quality of the Mavic but it's a heavy piece of kit to lug about and with the new laws, it makes a lot more sense to get the lighter machine. Just checked out your channel, some great footage.

@@pipes-hikes yeah I feel like the Mini gives a really good balance of weight & quality!

I live close by to dove stones. Beautiful place, but far too busy these days. Was very good in the 1970s when it was not as busy.Used to be mainly hikers who would go there. These days it’s all and sundry who go.I don’t go there anymore due to this.

Yes I completely agree. Not just at Dovestones either! I do prefer to head out to the quieter areas and pretty much always head out mid-week to avoid the crowds as much as possible.

I used to live near to this place for a good few years and I kind of agree with you. It gets really busy bear the car park and along the reservoir path, but up on the tops it is far quieter, and the countryside is a free resource for us all to enjoy.
