Jimmy will be missed. Wonderful music as you can see by all the suggestions here. Can't go wrong with any of them. He was there for the cleanup on the shore after the Deepwater Horizon oil blowout in 2010. He also co-founded the Save The Manatee Club in 1981. A wonderful humanitarian as well as musician.
“Come Monday”; one of his earlier songs (1974), before the tropical theme got started,; a beautiful song that got him on the map, so to speak. Be sure to check out the video where he gives the explanation of it; a song that should’ve been a #1❤❤❤ His only #1 charting songs were collaborations on the Country charts; “5 O’Clock Somewhere” with Alan Jackson, and “Knee Deep” with Zac Brown Band; all are worth checking out!❤❤❤
RIP Jimmy. I've been a fan since the 70's. I was also a sailor (as a kid) and he really wrote some incredible stuff. Besides the party songs like Cheeseburger and Margaritaville he wrote some beautiful love songs, ballads and such. Two really adorable songs to check out are tunes he wrote for his daughters. "Little Miss Magic" and "Delaney Talks to Statues".
"Come Monday" is the best introduction to his sincere, romantic, loving side for people who have only heard goofy side. "Meet Me in Memphis" and "Son of a Son of a Sailor" and many others also showcase that side. RIP Jimmy.
I think that's what got my brother listening, as he's a sailor as well. After Idalia, I'm not sure if he still has a boat, but we definitely spent time singing along to Buffet.
Fins is another rocker. When the Volcano Blows he wrote when Monserat' s blew and the whole island had to be evacuated. It's about where he doesn't want to land, like Three Mile Island and other man-made and natural disasters. Y'all are too young to know it but he moved to Florida first, where he was very interested in saving the manatees. Will miss him like crazy.
My daughter is name Delaney thanks to that last song. It's her maternal grandmother's maiden name, but we may not have thought to use it as her name, but for the song.
RIP JIMMY BUFFET! He truly enjoyed performing and making sure his fans have a good time! He seldom did stadium shows, preferring smaller more intimate venues. Well respected and loved by others in the music world; Jay mentioned it would’ve been cool if he played with The Beach Boys; he was friends with Brian Wilson, so maybe it happened! Paul McCartney reportedly came to his bedside in Jimmy’s last days and played for him.❤❤❤ Although he parlayed Margaritaville into a billion dollar empire, he remained a humble man intent on spreading joy!!
He was awesome! I’d love for you to react to “it’s 5 o’clock somewhere” with Jimmy Buffet and Alan Jackson. Such a cool song. If you like the Island Rock, you should check out Kenny Chesney too. “Somewhere in the Sun” and “When the Sun Goes Down” are both great starter songs with Kenny!
He flunked out from my Alma Mater, Auburn University, because he stayed at the Frat House playing his guitar - and look how far he got!! He used to play (unannounced) at his sisters restaurant, Lulu's, in Gulf Shores, AL. Can you imagine going to get some food and having Jimmy Buffett show up for a free show!
🙏🏻"Fins to the left 🙏🏻Fins to the rights" Sing it with me Parrotheads!!! 🦜 As a life long Floridian, Jimmy has always been a staple in our Southern life! At the beach & on the boat we have Jimmy & Bob Marley on repeat. I was lucky to sit with my toes in the sand on Fort Myers Beach & sing along with the other "parrotheads". RIP Jimmy 🏖 thanks for all the smiles you gave us!
I saw him in concert 3 times at U Florida (the last time it was the Eagles /Jimmy Buffett on Florida Field in Jan 1980). Words can't describe a Buffett concert - you had to experience it. I especially loved "Why Don't We Get Drunk and Screw" & his rendition of "God's Own Drunk"....
Gator Nation here 💙🐊🧡 I've lived here since I came for college in '89. I didn't see those concerts but countless others at Gator Growl. I did, however, see Jimmy play on the beach in Fort Myers. Is there any better place to see him than with your toes in the sand?
R.I.P. Jimmy! ❤💔😢 He wrote two very thoughtful songs that I highly recommend you listen to. He Went to Paris (about the life of an older man he met in the islands) and A Pirate Looks at Forty (when he turned forty). The fans who have followed his career call ourselves Parrotheads!
RIP Jimmy, thanks for the memories. I sang along to a bunch so many of his songs riding on the band bus back in high school, his music was an indelible part of my younger self. Covid put the final stake in the chain, but there was briefly a chain of stores by that name. (A lot were rebranded Fuddruckers.) There are a still a series of Margarita resorts. For a guy who just wanted to sit on the beach with an adult beverage, he was hell of a businessman - when he passed, he just barely missed the 10 list for most wealthy musicians.
"Some of it's magic, some of it's tragic, but I've had a good life all the way." ~ Jimmy Buffett, from "He Went to Paris" I've been to almost every Buffett concert in Atlanta for the last 30 years. My daughter is named after his song "Delaney Talks to Statues." The first song I learned how to play on the guitar was "A Pirate Looks at 40" (you HAVE TO check that one out). I've been a Parrothead for a long time. RIP, Jimmy.
Jimmy had a serious side too. His ballads are always relatable. The Captain And The Kid, or Last Mango In Paris, or Tin Cup For A Chalice, or (my favorite) He Went To Paris. Jimmy Buffet, a great storyteller.
Honestly I think most people are missing it, or maybe I'm just reading too much into it, but I think it's a metaphor. It's saying he's just a regular guy. He's on a retreat he's being all spiritual and stuff but he's just a regular person. And he's craving a burger because like he said always been eating vegetables and stuff
I've been to hundreds of concerts in my 55 years on this planet, but the most and BEST were all Jimmy Buffett! I've been a Parrothead since I was 15. I was truly shocked to wake up yesterday to his passing. RIP Jimmy.😪
I’ve seen him in concert at least 20 times. Always a great time. He will be missed beyond measure. Even though his trip around the sun is over, I hope he is enjoying his Cheeseburger 🍔 in Paradise. 😢❤😢❤😢
Jimmy Buffett was an amazing songwriter and musician , he loved life , and made fun music , you guys should check out some of his other songs like Come Monday , his first hit , " Son of a son of a Sailor " , " Volcano " " A Pirate looks at 40 " RIP Jimmy
Love that Cheeseburger!!! Next time you get a chance to react to Jimmy Buffet check out his song Come Monday. I'm sure others have requested it. Keep up the good work you two.
Jimmy Buffett is a legend. Check out A Pirate Looks at Forty, One Particular Harbor, Changes Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes, and It's 5 O'clock somewhere with Alan Jackson.
More Buffet please: It's 5 O'Clock Somewhere; Son of a Son of a Sailor; Why Don’t We Get Drunk; Come Monday; Volcano; Fins; Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes. Any of those.
Jimmy used to have some land outside of Livingston, Montana and would on occasion play impromptu at the local bars. Livingston is situated in Paradise Valley. Just outside of town is a little joint called The Paradise Cafe which happens to serve one delicious cheeseburger. I've never heard it confirmed, but some of the locals claim that this is where he got the inspiration for this song.
He wrote it after being on a boat where they lived on canned food and peanut butter. They stop at a little Caribbean island (forget which one) and there was a Cafe on the beach that served cheese burgers.
He wrote the songs for a movie called "Rancho Delux" that was written by his sister's husband Thomas McGuane, and filmed in the Paradise Valley. The song "Livingston Saturday Night" was written about the same time. He stated that he was daydreaming about a really good cheeseburger when he was forced to eat just peanut butter and canned goods while slowly floating on a broken sailboat, finally landing on an island called Tortola. He told the cook, "I like mine with...", but it came out of the kitchen not like he ordered, a bit burnt, but still "tasted like manna from Heaven, for, they were the realization of my fantasy burgers on the trip."
RIP Jimmy, and thank you! Also look closely, that's Timothy B. Schmitt on bass (with short hair!). He joined the Coral Reefers for a bit after the Eagles broke up, and he is credited with coming up with the name "Parrotheads" for Jimmy's fans.
Back in the summer of '94, my ship had spent 90 days+ picking up Cuban refugees from the Florida Straits and responding to the sutuation in Haiti. We got 3 days in Key West, on the way home. Jimmy found out that the Navy was in town, and flew in to put on shows at the original Margaritaville bar and restaurant. I attended one of the shows, and actually dined on a Cheeseburger in Paradise, made exactly like he describes in this song. A true bucket list moment!
I’ve heard that this was inspired by Jimmy, and a friend being stuck on a boat with nothing but peanut butter & crackers for a couple of days… First food after he got to port…
He has so many fantastic heartfelt songs it's sad that the little novelty tunes get all the attention. Do yourself a big favor and try "Come Monday", "He Went to Paris", "Pirate Looks at 40", "Death of an Unpopular Poet" or any of the dozens (if not hundreds) great songs in his catalogue.
Jimmy Buffett had a serious side too. His first hit was a beautiful song titled "Come Monday." Got lots of radio play, deservedly so, when it came out in 1974.
Hearing of his passing actually had me in tears. This one hits hard. Takes me back to my friend who I lost last year to cancer, he turned me on to Buffett and that’s all we listened to going up and down the road together. At the end of his funeral to my surprise, a Jimmy Buffett song was played in the church…”Lovely Cruise”. A great one for a future video perhaps.. Thanks for reacting to this song! Who doesn’t love a good cheeseburger?! Fins Up!
He was truly brilliant. While people were singing about lost love, found love, or killing cops, he’s singing about food and people are “eating it up.” I played the box set yesterday after a few years of not paying it much attention, and I was shocked that I remembered every word to every song. Was blessed to see him 3 times, which in no way qualifies me as a ParrotHead.
Jimmy wasn't a great guitarist or a great singer. He had a great presence and was a great writer, though. He seemed like a nice guy, and it was great to see him succeed. Prayers for Jimmy!
His career started in New Orleans playing on the street then in one of the music clubs on Bourbon St. He was a true friend of the city, played Jazzfest often and, when he wasn’t performing, was usually there every year just enjoying it. We just got back from a trip to Florida and on the way there , we listened to a lot of his songs because that is our happy music. We heard about his passing the morning we left for home. We listened to all of our favorites from him on the way back, but it sure hit different. RIP, Jimmy!
He lived in Maui and had a restaurant called Cheesburger in Paradise that burned down in the fire in Lahaina. If you didn't know he passed away day before yesterday.
🔥🔥"Bama Breeze" is a wonderful song, true story about his Sister's bar in Alabama that was wiped out by Hurricane Katrina (I think)....video was shot in the ruins of the place, and the song verses tell true stories about things that happened there over the years, like when Mick Jagger came through one night in the 80s lol great song yall!! Peace From PA ✌️
He wrote the song to raise money for the restaurant to be rebuilt. He also put on a fee beach concert in Gulf Shores to boost tourism after the hurricane damaged the local economy.
Bama Breeze is written about the FLORABAMA. Lulu's wasn't around in the 80's. He did give a concert to help hurricane victims at Lulu's. He has sang there more than a couple of times.
There are SO many Jimmy Buffett songs I could suggest you check out (have a dozen in mind right now), but I'll just suggest three for now: 1. The Weather Is Here, I Wish You Were Beautiful 2. A Pirate Looks at Forty 3. The Wino and I Know
Rest In Peace Jimmy Buffet . . . Thank You For Your Fun Music . . . "-) R.I.P. Jimmy Buffet, aka James William Buffett, Who Died On September 1, 2023 At 76 Years Old . . .
Almost 30 years ago, I remember going on a dive cruise in The Bahamas. Every night everybody would gather on the deck of the boat and sing Jimmy Buffet songs together. Some of my favorite memories. Also... A live Jimmy Buffet concert was a trip. Tons of people of all ages... Though mostly middle aged dancing around and tossing beach balls through the crowd. Half of the joy of the concert was the crowd.... And the tailgaters that start at least 24 hours before the venue would open.
The local dj referred to the concert experience as the traveling circus or the biggest party of the year. As it grew it was very hard to get tickets. He sold out large venues the way the rolling stones do.
The idea for Cheeseburger was from a sailing trip years and years ago, when they experienced problems on the boat and the fridge died and they had to resort to canned food and peanut butter until they got to shore. When they docked there was some small dockside bar that had a grill and was making American style cheeseburgers 🍔 and there you have it, “Cheeseburgers In Paradise” 🏝️
He did the best concerts. I remember that he’d give the band a break in the middle…but he’d just stay onstage and keep singing and chatting with the crowd. 😁
Many of us Florida folks who used to bar hop around the beaches in the 70s remember Buffett playing in dive bars around the state in the early 70s. He was not real famous yet so I think his most popular song with those bar crowds was Why don't we get drunk. Later in life I attended a couple of Buffett concerts with the other Parrot heads.
Jimmy Buffett is a great way to invoke a laid-back just-enjoy-it life. And there's nothing at all wrong with starting with the "Fun" songs. "Boat Drinks" is a favorite of mine for a reason. But do yourself a favor, and make it a point one of these days to listen to "Come Monday", "A Pirate Looks at Forty", and "He Went To Paris". It's a whole 'nother side of Jimmy, and you will really appreciate it.
Thank you sooo much! Please react and do a listen to Come Monday or One particular Harbour. Jimmy's music is the soundtrack to my life. Saw one of his last shows in March in Phoenix. The idea for this song was when his sail boat barley made it into Tortolla Harbour. He and his crew had been living on peanut butter on the ship. When they docked, they saw the bar had Cheesburgers on the menu. Thus Cheeseburgers in paradise!
One Particular Harbor is one of my favorites and definitely one to play with a scotch and cigar in hand! So many from his albums to mention. "Volcano", "Fins", "Come Monday", Pencil thin Mustache", "Fruitcakes" and tons more to mention. Also, for Female Friday, react to one of Jimmy's outstanding backing singers, Miss Nadirah Shakoor. She's singing R.E.S.P.E.C.T. during one of Jimmy's concerts to hear what kind of talent was backing him. Thank you. RIP Jimmy!
Jimmy is one of my musical muses. He always will be. I suggest you check out his deeper stuff. "Cowboy In the Jungle" and "He Went To Paris" are both so good they ought to be in the songwriters hall of fame.
His wife put him on a diet. He said what he kept craving was a cheeseburger. My favorite is his first video, "Come Monday." It shows his girlfriend, his pickup and his boat. They shot it with a rented video camera.
RIP MR. BUFFET! Parrotheads and the Keys are going to miss you dearly! Put on some great live shows. Thanks for the memories and the wonderful music you left us.
anything from his Living and Dying in 3/4 Time album especially The Wino and I Know, Come Monday, Brahma Fear Ringling Ringling, Spider John and the rest are great
“Havana Daydreamin’”, “Pencil Thin Mustache”, and “Grapefruit-Juicy Fruit” are some great ones as well. He created a world we all wanted to be a part of. -Amber
Jimmy Buffett is gone but his music must continue to be played .A great man and musician RIP!
rest in paradise 😔 🕯
If you like this silly song, you'll love God's Own Drunk (Buddy Bear)
last night i grilled up a cheese burger and made a migrata in honor of him
One participant harbor
friends with Paul McCartney says a lot
“Come Monday”, “A Pirate Looks at Forty”, or “Changes in Latitudes”, _and more,_ you can’t go wrong with Buffet!
As good as “cheeseburger “ and “margaritaville “ are those 3 songs you listed are even better
Hell Yes! I listed those three plus Banana Republic, Son of a Son of a Sailor, Mexico, etc.
@@jeffarbuckle4615 & Johnny Appleseed 👍👍
@@foxguy67 same. I just listened to it a couple of hours ago.
Absolutely!, "Come Monday" i think it was his best song and the one that put him on the map.
When I heard the news of his passing on Saturday, his music just flooded my head! R.I.P. Jimmy! You have been the music of a generation!
I just heard about it late today, like 7:00 pm Sunday, and was just . . . .No. Really? No.
im so sad i will never see his show again
He always performed barefoot. RIP Jimmy
rest in paradise 😔 🕯
RIP
That's because he blew out his flipflop! RIP Jimmy!
@@jdgolf499 Yeah, but he put his shoes back on after stepping on the pop top.
You really need to check out more Jimmy Buffett. There is 50 years of songs to choose from. :)
'For your next Jimmy Buffett song, try "Volcano". That's another fun tropical rock song.
Impossible to have a bad time or a bad mood at a Buffett show. They are partying in heaven tonight. RIP Jimmy.
" If there's a rock and roll heaven, then you know they've got a hell of a band." ❤
“Come Monday”; one of his earlier songs (1974), before the tropical theme got started,; a beautiful song that got him on the map, so to speak. Be sure to check out the video where he gives the explanation of it; a song that should’ve been a #1❤❤❤
His only #1 charting songs were collaborations on the Country charts; “5 O’Clock Somewhere” with Alan Jackson, and “Knee Deep” with Zac Brown Band; all are worth checking out!❤❤❤
Such a beautiful song. I love it.
An earlier, slower song is Come Monday. It really shows off Jimmy's voice
Ahhhh! Come Monday is a beautiful song.
One of my favorites!

Since when is Margaritaville s party song? It's a song about a drunk wasting his life.

Jimmy Buffett sold happiness. That was his product and he did it exceptionally well. Fair winds and following seas, Jimmy, and thank you for it all.

He had a house there on Ono Island (but then again, he had houses all over)
I’m sure everyone at Auburn loved Jimmy 😂 If he had stayed enrolled he probably would’ve been like Bert Kreischer at Florida State

A very under appreciated song of his, but my absolute favorite, is "A Pirate Looks at 40". Awesome song.

My 2 fav "non goofy" songs! A pirate looks at 40 and Son of a son.
“Changes in Latitude, Changes in Attitude “ and “It’s five o’clock somewhere “ are awesome!!!!! ❤❤❤❤

I cannot believe that Jimmy Buffett died or Gordon Lightfoot I will miss both of them I loved they're songs

What a fantastic memory! 🥹
Thank you for doing that. - The daughter of a 2 tour 1950's Navy vet.
I hope you'll review the song "A Pirate Looks at 40". I comes from his heart and reflects who he was...
I went to see Zac Brown last night in NH...he dedicated the show to Jimmy and ended with Margaritaville...😢
You can definitely see Jimmy's influence on arrists like Zac Brown and Kenny Chesney.
He has been selling out arenas for 48 years!!! This song was when he was told to stop eating meat to lose weight.Well.....it didn't take!!
RIP Jimmy - thanks for the memories... and the margaritas! 💖💖
Come Monday would be great because of Labor Day tomorrow, it’s also his best song imo ✌️
r I p Jimmy
I’ve heard that this was inspired by Jimmy, and a friend being stuck on a boat with nothing but peanut butter & crackers for a couple of days… First food after he got to port…
Yep, this is the story that I read in an interview from Jimmy.
"Come Monday" is a beautiful song. I think his first big hit and it shows his tender side

You need to listen to Come Monday. RIP Jimmy.. Enjoy that Cheeseburger in Paradise.
RIP, Jimmy!
Should react to Volcano by Jimmy Buffett. Classic beach music.
He lived in Maui and had a restaurant called Cheesburger in Paradise that burned down in the fire in Lahaina. If you didn't know he passed away day before yesterday.
Suggest: "Fins". Also "One Particular Harbor."
Love Bama Breeze
Bama Breeze is written about the FLORABAMA. Lulu's wasn't around in the 80's. He did give a concert to help hurricane victims at Lulu's. He has sang there more than a couple of times.
Gonna miss your visits to Alpine Valley, Jimmy Buffet...RIP
There are SO many Jimmy Buffett songs I could suggest you check out (have a dozen in mind right now), but I'll just suggest three for now:
1. The Weather Is Here, I Wish You Were Beautiful
2. A Pirate Looks at Forty
3. The Wino and I Know
Rest In Peace Jimmy Buffet . . . Thank You For Your Fun Music . . . "-)
Come Monday, it will be alright. Come Monday. I'll be holding you tight.
Jimmy had no bad songs, thank you Mr. Buffet for years of pleasure. RIP to an American icon . Peace and Love people
One of the best things about Jimmy was that his music attracted people who are a lot like him. Easy going and laid back.
RIP
Many of us Florida folks who used to bar hop around the beaches in the 70s remember Buffett playing in dive bars around the state in the early 70s. He was not real famous yet so I think his most popular song with those bar crowds was Why don't we get drunk. Later in life I attended a couple of Buffett concerts with the other Parrot heads.
Jimmy Buffett was such a wonderful person. You should check out his song Come Monday.
More good Buffett: Come Monday and Changes in Latitude, Changes in Attitude
I love his song "Volcano"
Also he was on Alan Jackson's "It's Five O'clock Somewhere"
Jimmy invented his own genre of music! One of my all time favorites!
I second One a Particular Harbor.
I had to buy that eight track tape 3x cause I played it so much🎉🎉🎉💙💙💙
One Particular Harbor is one of my favorites and definitely one to play with a scotch and cigar in hand!
Thank you. RIP Jimmy!
James Delaney Buffett (1946-2023), RIP
Jimmy is one of my musical muses. He always will be.
I suggest you check out his deeper stuff. "Cowboy In the Jungle"
and "He Went To Paris" are both so good they ought to be
in the songwriters hall of fame.
This must have been filmed before Jimmy Buffett died. Unreal timing!
Come Monday is a great song of his, that has a soft 70s rock/ classic country sound.
RIP Jimmy Buffet. Your music will live on.
I have his 4 cd box set: beaches, boats, bars and ballads. Great 4 disc set well worth the price. Any song from these four is worth reacting to.
Come Monday, Ringling Ringling, his cover of Southern Cross, and Why Don't We Get Drunk And Screw are some you should do reactions for.
Come Monday, and Son Of A Sailor are awesome by Jimmy Buffett!!!❤❤❤
I like mine with lettuce and tomatoes Heinz 57 and french fried potatoes and Jimmy right there drinking a margarita. Gonna miss you Jimmy.
Fun song! R.I.P., Jimmy. Alan Jackson and Jimmy Buffet recorded a song called "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere" that I think you'd enjoy.
I agree. Great song
I think people forget about the john candy movie called summer rental the song is turning around by jimmy buffett
I live in culebra puerto rico , a tiny island jimmy visited and yes a good cheeseburger in paradise does exist ... he will be missed
anything from his Living and Dying in 3/4 Time album especially
The Wino and I Know, Come Monday, Brahma Fear Ringling Ringling, Spider John and the rest are great
There's a party goin' on in Heaven. RIP Jimmy ☮🧡🎶
RIP Jimmy. Rob Squad you need to listen to Come Monday, a really great, more serious song.
“Havana Daydreamin’”, “Pencil Thin Mustache”, and “Grapefruit-Juicy Fruit” are some great ones as well. He created a world we all wanted to be a part of. -Amber
