A one in a million player and person, Eric is one of the FIVE guitarists whom I've heard in the last two DECADES, who I can tell in one note, who it is, and has made my jaw drop. I wish I'd heard Eric Gales speak sooner. What a talent and what a beautiful soul this man has. He represents the true spirit of the blues, it's a powerful, transformative and transcendental cultural music; feel your pain to be absolved of it, express it, embrace life. The philosophy of the blues is one all humanity could learn from. If we want to change ourselves and the world for the better, we need to accept that the first and original beauty of life, is in acknowledging our shared pain and common struggle. It's the deepest well to draw from.
Eric is such a complex, and unique player. As with all of the greatest musicians, his technique draws from a very broad palette, and he brings an extraordinarily sophisticated melange to modern blues and rock.
I had the good fortune to see Eric play a very small venue (about 100 or so people) 2 weeks ago and got to talk to him after the show. He's an absolute monster player and one of the coolest dudes I've ever met.
When he said "who says _you're_ playing guitar the right way?" Really resonates, because playing chords treble first is a character all it's own. It's incredibly expressive clean, and incredibly powerful in attack dirty. Combined with his own sensitivity and feel, there really is nobody like him. Eric stands out no matter who else is on stage.👑

1:00:00 I remember being just the same when I was a kid, and learning bass guitar. Last thing before bed, and first thing upon waking, I had so many things I wanted to learn. Of course, I was never going to be Eric Gales (who was?), but I totally get the enthusiasm for the instrument. Great video.
Dunno bout this right left thing. I played lefty strung right for about 50 years then I said I really want to do that bass walk proper so I switched the strings around. Had to refurbish the axe and it's kind of a slog relearning but in the end it's a joy. Still grab a righty now and then which helps keep it fresh, new musical ideas usually come to me from mistakes I make so it's all good.
I.... Personally.. See Him....as a. Man....with Exceptional Talent... N ... Mastery of His Instrument....a Great Vocalist.... Songwriter...n... Philosopher.
