Eric is exceptional.. Hopefully one day people will appreciate how phenomenal of a guitarist that Eric Gales is ... His picking technique is straight crazy .. He plays these hyper blues riffs that are mind boggling because of the speed but yet articulate and tasteful at the same time ! .. It's not fair 😂!
Not just his guitar playing, but the emotion he puts into his voice as well as the skills to be able to write that song and play it with so much feeling and emotion. It’s not just his guitar playing why he’s so great, it’s his feeling and his character why he’s so great. A lot of people could play the notes and runs he’s playing but NO ONE can display the raw emotion he feels when he playing it. That’s why he is one of my favorite musicians of ALL time!
Sadly I didn’t know of him till recently and I am shocked and ashamed I didn’t know him sooner! Good grief! Saw him in Kansas City with Buddy Guy. He is incredible! I didn’t know how people were sitting! Insanely talented

I also have been playing my whole life and you actually inspired me to start playing after I got out of prison in 2017. I heard your rendition of Voodoo Chile/Kashmir/back in black for the first time and it changed me. I also saw how you got clean and it helped me realize you don’t need to do drugs to play music. I’m still struggling with it, but your videos give me inspiration and hope. Thank you man for everything you’ve done for the blues and for recovery.
Eric's drummer here reminds me of the late great Chicago blues drummer, the hard hitting Casey Jones who was with Albert Collins for a time. He & the bass player are putting down a helluva foundation.

Saw him in Chattanooga last week and I'm right there with you. I was torn between buying the signature Magneto guitar he had for sale at the show or just depositing all my guitars in the dumpster when i got home.
Stay inspired! I know it can be intimidating to try to play Eric’s stuff, but you just need to try to break it down bit by bit until you can find a structure. It might be a struggle, but it will highly elevate your playing.
