  • As a gynecology ultrasound expert, I get asked to review innumerable scans to see if they are correct, or NOT.
The correct diagnosis is essential and expertise matters (that's why you're here, to learn!)
Check out this latest episode of GRWM to understand what a myometrial cyst is not. Adenomyosis is a really important diagnosis, but if it is not there, that is equally important to state. Watch me and the scan as we report together on a normal uterus and normal ovaries.
If someone believes they have a disease when in fact it is not really there, they will be misled in their treatment approach.

You should be concerned enough to look for it if the patient has symptoms
Some red flags on ultrasound that should make you look more for endometriosis: 1) anteverted, retroflexed uterus, 2) ovarian endometriomas, 3) adenomyosis, 4) hydrosalpinges or hematosalpinges

How often do you find uteruses that seem to have one of everything? As a bit of a joke, I have a blackout bingo card of a uterus (gotta little bit of everything!) and in that case how easy is it to miss something?

We definitely find patients with fibroids, adenomyosis, polyps, etc! Sometimes people have PCOS, uterine pathology, and endometriosis!
