Hey everybody, I have been a Dell G3 owner for a few months now. I have had a major problem with the fan making very aggressive scraping sounds and I'm sending it off to get it repaired. I'll do an update after it's fixed.
Can you make a video on how to maintain the longevity of a gaming laptop. Like how to take care of it (how much to charge, overcharging, cleaning etc etc)
The 2018 HP Omen has been released for almost 2 months now and yet not one channel has made a PROPER review of it. There are some videos out there but nothing near to Dave Lee here. Kindly make a review on it. P.S it has thinner bezels and is a great competitor to the dell G7.
Thanks for the review Dave, I enjoy watching your videos... I was contemplating on getting either the Dell G3 17 or Acer A517-51G and I ended up buying two G3's because the deal was too good to pass up. The first one is in Blue for myself with a i5 and GTX 1050, I don't game too much on laptops (I have a gaming desktop) and it's mainly going to be used for office work and multimedia consumption with some gaming. The second I bought for my nephew is in Black with a i7 and GTX 1060, he games a lot on his laptop and also uses it for school and multimedia consumption. The laptops have not been delivered yet however I'm confident we'll be happy with them when they arrive all considering the price/performance ratio of these G3's. In terms of the looks, I'm not complaining but I'm with you on the stripes looking cheap/tacky, from other reviews online it seems the chassis is pretty solid and that's more important to me. I'm going to be re-pasting the thermal paste with some good stuff and undervolting the CPU within safe limits to get the laptops to run as cool as possible after my return period expires.
The G3 is the thinnest gaming laptop that Dell has made to date but thin laptops are hard to cool. The G7 is still my fav from the Dell lineup this year. Thanks for watching!

It looks spinny, which is cool...but it only has a GTX 1050? Yikes.
Cavey manta isn't 1050ti?
Ooh, I finally found the 8th gen Intel + GTX 1050 Ti combo Nitro 5. It's on its own separate page.
8300H + 1050 Ti

Great Review ! Does it comes with 2x4Go or 1x8Go RAM ?
4:34 "A longer lifespan because of the better thermals". Hmmm, how many people have had a laptop die because of bad thermals before it reached the end of its useful life anyway? Not too many, I'd suggest. Willing to be proved wrong here but for me that's a bit of a red herring. Nice review tho, thx.
davidf2281 im also genuinely curious as well
It is a fact that better thermals provide longer life span of any pc components.
My laptop is unusable due to its thermal.. Though its 6 years old
had the same thought. My 6 year old laptop is still working even though cpu temps can reach as high as 98 and I just continue using it. Though most of the time its running on 85
All parts will inevitably wear. More heat simply speeds that process.
Hi, nice review dav. Good joob! Btw, talking about thermal what if you do some review about msi gaming laptop? Since the msi cooling system is known as best cooling system so far
is it ok if i bought it for my college stuff? cuz already have a high end desktop for gaming?
Yes sir! Probably more than enough of horsepower to fuel that work. Go for it!
@@rocket_8903 thanks!
Absolutely love your videos, would love to see one on recommended/possible upgrades for laptops. I'm running a Dell Inspiron 7577 1060 max-q and would like to upgrade the RAM and the wireless, would love a video with your input on best wireless cards, RAM etc to put into a laptop/where to buy it/ general overview on upgrades in terms of performance and aesthetic! (Skins etc)
Can you do a review of the HP pavilion power 15
Boi I was waiting for this review!!
How did you make your intro
Those lightbulbs looks sick 👌🏻 and where is the wallpaper link? Great job as always, keep it up!
Just ruined every thought of me buying this laptop ...there was little to no positive reasons to even consider
Kdouble0 same and I was gonna buy it
Lol, same here. I was pretty set on buying the G3 before everyone started complaining about thermal design and heat issues. Deal breaker for me.
So what did you guys end up getting?
I just bought the G7 with a 1060 Max Q, i7-8750H, 16GB of ram, 128 GB SSD, and a 1TB HDD (upgraded to a 1TB SSD, May put a 2tb SSD in there in the future) for $899. With the 1tb SSD, the total price was $1089, so I’m very happy with it. I also re-pasted the thermal paste and I’m getting much better thermals with even lower fan speeds. Loving it so far!!
Finally!
The Smiling Sloth wut
Another awesome video as usual
Should is get the gamming hp pavilion
I don’t even want a laptop but I love way too mucho your videos to miss one
Review hp gaming pavilion too
Thank you for this review.
The best G3 review on UA-cam in my opinion.
G5 review PLEASE
Thanks for the review! Could you do a review of the newest version of Acer Nitro 5 with 8th gen cpu? And which one should i go for? Acer Nitro 5 or this Dell G3? Really appreciate it! :D
idk dave, i feel you dont get it anymore, yo channel is just filled with overpriced stuff. What about this: dell g3 i7 8750h with gtx1060 256ssd and 8gb of ram for 1100 usd and you change the pannel to a 90% srgb 120hz3ms on for freaking 100 dolar us from ebay (changing the panel on the g3 only requires a pocket plastic card/id) . add 8 gbs of ram, fill the empty drive bay with another 250gb ssd, change de wireless card, undervolt and repaste. youre basically getting a 6 core 12 thread cpu with a desktop gpu on a thin and light chasis with a bussiness look and not jus another stupid red and black gaming laptop, even adding to the mix having a on the go gaming monitor on ir for under 1400 usd. Like come on, the thing even has thunderbolt 3 and ram expandability. how can it be less future proof. or idk, just buy a i5 mac with 500gb ssd and iris graphics i guess :0. Cheers from colombia, im studyng for a physician degree at a local public university. Do the dam vid about this. (then send me one of those 120hz panels for the dell g3 1050ti i just ordered xdxdxxd).
Great video review!!
Can you please suggest me which one of these laptop would be better for 4k video editing and occasional gaming, ASUS TUF FX504 (i5-8300H) or ASUS FX553VD (i7-7700HQ).
I would really appreciate any other suggestions in the same price range.
😒😒
Hi @Dave Lee,
I have Dell G3 with i7-8750H with 16GB ram. I want to know the minimum temperature for this model? I saw 35°C but goes 50°C while browsing youtube and 95+ while gaming. Is it normal or should I go for service?
Please review hp Omen 15-dc
Hey everybody, I have been a Dell G3 owner for a few months now. I have had a major problem with the fan making very aggressive scraping sounds and I'm sending it off to get it repaired. I'll do an update after it's fixed.
You guys are too rich. I can’t even read these damn comments.
Your Contents are really good, great laptop.
Please review msi gl638 rc
Can you make a video on how to maintain the longevity of a gaming laptop. Like how to take care of it (how much to charge, overcharging, cleaning etc etc)
For $750 you can get a GTX 1070 and a Ryzen 5 1400
iAmmarXGames and nothing else. This is a complete system for 750
I still can make a complete system for $750 that has a GTX 1060
iAmmarXGames but the processor, RAM and other important specs will suffer.
Hi pcpartpicker.com/list/m6xFXP
how about the portability? I think that’s the main purpose of a laptop
I know u gonna give us a review about g3 because u gave a couple of hints in last videos, thanks .
The 2018 HP Omen has been released for almost 2 months now and yet not one channel has made a PROPER review of it. There are some videos out there but nothing near to Dave Lee here. Kindly make a review on it. P.S it has thinner bezels and is a great competitor to the dell G7.
Aryan Agarwal how much does it cost?
Ide v Currently its for $999 on microcenter with 6gb GTX 1060 and 16gigs of ram.
I have this! We were supposed to get the G7 but there weren't any stock left so we got G3. They only had the white G3 though so that's what we got.
Thanks for the review, I was really looking forward for your opinion. Overall, I’d still buy it.
Hey dave I am a huge fan of Ur work, can u suggest a good 1000-1200$ laptop with gtx 1060, thank you ☺️
Nice video as always Dave.
Hey Dave, what do you think about HP Pavilion Power 15? I need some advice.
Hey Dave, I think you make excellent videos, unlike any other tech channel. Could you make a video on the Asus Vivobook Pro N580VD?
been using this laptop in 2018 and its still ok up to today
Oh yeah another great video from dave! 👌
This is a great review, thanks!
