I love the banter in the shop. Nice to get a video on Saturday night a great way to end the day with a smile on my face. Again thanks for letting us watch the "insanity" that makes Trail Mater get a big thumbs up X 2 hands.
You know reading the instructions can lead to doing things right the first time and where is the fun in that. I prefer the screw up 12 times and then read the instructions.Makes for better videos and more. You guys are awesome.🎉🎉🎉🎉😊😊😊😊
Great video. I LOVED Justin's overlay of the audio, He sounds great. As soon as I saw mike under the vehicle and I saw the carbon canister, I said Mini Mater. BTW I hate that exhaust sound now.
thX Rory, thx Sauna, thx Mike and thx behind the scene crew, The only show I really tune into to watch (along with my ski action videos). You're personalties and content are the reason I watch! And I get to see some of my old stomping grounds. Stay true.
Mike, talk more, (love your comments and quirks of observation) and walk around more from every angle with stick and magnetic, it's nothing without footage and commentary, keep up the great work!!
02:15 Watch out Rory, you were close enough to do a mike thing. I had to use a grinder the other day putting new lights on a trailer and gloves and eye protection before I turn on the switch because when you least expect it, you get bit. When I got the grinder out of the drawer I instantly thought about Mike. 03:57 Would be nice of you Rory to tell us fans where you buy those tapered bits for steel. Harbor Freight drill bits suck. They have a set they call titanium, nope just a gold painted cheap steel bit. 13:00 Don't go through a bank drive through teller as your whip antenna may break the lights on their canopy. I used to have a K-40 CB Whip antenna, and I used to do that. 19:12 Yay! It's Payday, will it last until next Friday? Hope you enjoy your working vacations that are coming the first 3 months of this year. Just don't turn on the news as you will be very disappointed to hear our bad news. 10th or 11th or 12 to comment. It does not look the same on the Creators end.
How am I supposed to get a nap when you guys keep droppin` videos you know I am gonna watch...that`s just plain mean Oh, and you`re doin` it wrong...11% of the whole wide intranet says so...me, however, I don`t know nuthin` except gravity works
I, myself am not planning on doing anything outside Tomorrow through Tuesday. I don't mind cold, but I really hate Arctic cold. If Santa is said to live at the North Pole.................oh, that's right he has Mrs. Claus to keep him warm, lol!
From what I remember from my CB days, the coaxial cable length adjusts in 6' increments. It's measured in SWRs or Standing Wave Resistance. It should run 1:1 - 1.5:1. You can tune it with an antenna matcher or trim 1/4 inch at a time until you get the desired SWR. In most cases the antenna will have an adjustment screw that will let you move the mast for fine tuning.
Ground plane for the antenna base needs to be much larger than the magnet. Depending on frequency of the radio you may need 12" to 20" square piece of metal.
2 horizontal radial wires that are the same length as the antenna (1/4 wave) might be helpful. The roof of the cab and the tubular frame are acting as a counterpoise for the vertical element already, just not in all directions. But the chances of poking your eye out on the radials might not outweigh the better radio performance.
That was alot of fun...for us to watch. Please get radios in all the rigs.CBs use to be cheap, and useful. I don't know what the new styles cost. The Mini-Mater being "neutered" comment was funny.
Just stating “Missed ya in 24 hrs hell and back this year “ 🇺🇸👊🏻🍻! I get you have rigs built for your area & you killed it last year . Cue’ “we are the champions “ Song of that success! Last year was probably the best 24 to date . I’d sure like the reunion of that crew at a different location. Maybe bring lite bright Kevin in so he can scratch that paint 😂
I'm really surprised Rugged didn't pre-cut those antennas. Looking forward to putting a Rugged Radiuo in my rig and a pair of handhelds with the voice activation capable headsets for "away parties". I do two way radio for a living, and Rugged is pretty alright - they're not Motorola, but they don't cost like Motorola either!
You do two-way radio for a living? Then, you should know that antenna on a transceiver radio is tuned to the frequencies it transmits on. Changing the length will damage the transceiver.
good on ya for watch your eyeballs, can't see faint stars, specifically the Pleiades when I look directly at them after doing some short glances at bright stuff, so, don't do that I used to be able to count dozens of stars there when I was a kid
If you check with Midland GMRS radio they make repeaters that work the same frequencies. Get a solar panel and put up high on some hill where youve got dead spots. Hide it from trails. Frequencies will be yours and anyone you give access to it.
always wondered how well your rock buggy would perform on the sand stone with a set of M/H wrinkle wall drag slicks. just wondering. wish had a hobby shop like yours!!!
I suspect those are GRMS radios with tone codes. Some radios will scan for tone if you have the repeater freq. Radio nerd stuff. Rugged radios are rebranded Baofeng.
Hey Rory you should order a Pedal Commander for the mini mater I put one on my jeep and I put one on every vehicle I get now lol it's so freakin nice to have the most proper throttle response especially when you need it most just try it if you don't like it I'll never comment on your videos again 😅
HEY, NEW OLD TECHNOLOGY 😅, they used to tune cb attennas also. had meter with coil cable to handle with wire sticking with loop at end. loop went over attenna and as you keyed mic you could find highest reading , then nip it off at that point.
btw, if you ever run into someone that has all the race truck, but no driver, i'd like to introduce myself. i've wrecked like 100 trophy trucks, but dang was it awesome! no for real, they call me the ricky bobby of the mojave
Radio waves have a "wave length" .... If the antenna is to long or to short the wave will reflect back into the radio and it will damage the radio as well the radio wave itself becomes distorted and you won't have a decent radio wave.... SWR (standing wave ratio) is best @ 1:1... you can be a little long or short without unduly affecting your signal....
I know Radio like the back of my Hand~ The antenna has to be trimmed to the wavelength your going to be Transmitting! i used to build Custom CB's that talked to other countries.. I have a Antenna Analyzer that Allows me to Tune them perfectly.. yes you can throw them together and it work but when you tune things perfectly Like i do it Talks much farther than any other.. I modded a Cobra 19 to that talk Skip to Australia on a Boat floating in the lake in Jasper.. Also so you know the antennas main section of output is that Coil of wire in the Antenna Currently you have lined up with the Lightbar, Raise it Above to have the Best receive and transmit..
How you doing guys. Quick question, asking from a Stacey David video on seargent rock I think, wouldn't it be more practical to put the orbital valve under the dash and make an adapter and bolt the steering wheel directly to orbital valve? I understand that just the power steering lines and the stiring lines would need to be a little bit longer. Also putting the orbital valve inside the cab would free up some space in the engine bay. Maybe I'm missing something there that would make it unpractical so... it's just a thought.
By removing the squeak ,you have removed all possible comments, the camera will need to figure and another noise to pick up . Maybe the radios will create enough noises that many will complain about , helping the algorithm, mind nothing creates comments more than Rory reacting to what ever the annoyance might be ,if the Radio chatter gets to him ,he will let everyone know ,creating more chirps and quips from the audience. Wrecker Wrecker out !
What happened to the original big dually beast of a truck, "trail matter." I haven't seen the world's greatest & best recovery vehicle in a while. I sure hope you're not planning on retiring the ole beast. I was hoping maybe you guys could put a more durable engine in it, like a 502 GM crate engine with a holley sniper fuel injection setup. Who knows, maybe Garret, aka Cleetus McFarland, might give you his 632 V8 out of his tow truck that he never uses, or at least give you a sweet deal on it. He's not hurting for money, he makes anywhere from $200k-475k a month of UA-cam.
ua-cam.com/video/E-E8Pz9AlQ8/v-deo.html This is a video on how to clean a three jaw lathe clamp. Not sure it would help in any way but coming from a guy who had issues with my lathe running true, makes a great deal of knowledge for me. Great videos guys
Great content, and your humility is what elevates it. Keep up!
Okay bot.
HEY! Hello Rory , Mike and Shawn! Thumbs UP!!!

@19:28 - BWUAHAHAH! Hi Justin! You're the man!
Football game is a blowout. Thanks for posting so late on a Saturday night.
Everything is tougher when it’s cold!
Keep up with the good work love watching your videos on UA-cam God bless you and your team
MM just gets better and better,
Hello from North Carolina !
Great video. I LOVED Justin's overlay of the audio, He sounds great.
As soon as I saw mike under the vehicle and I saw the carbon canister, I said Mini Mater. BTW I hate that exhaust sound now.
You know while these videos are great i'am sorry but it's Mike that makes it for me😂every workshop needs a Mike.
Justin. Good job..
Got my hoodie and stickers yesterday . Thanks guys !
Can't wait to see more of Robbie's Tow Truck
Justin's narration was awesome. Maybe he should do some narration at different times.
Thanks for the great show..alot got done for the Hammer
Thank you Rory , Mike and Shawn on how things are going there in Utah !
Nice dubbing when you lost the audio. I always like how you guys find a way to make things work.
Yeah..thanks guys

Rig work is my favorite content!
You guys kick ass!
When you guys start using the radios, each of you has to have a "handle"..... Mikey's handle is "diamond bill"!!!!
As always cool stuff 🤘😎

34°F and raining up here in the first 13,
Tomorrow forecast is 5-8" of snow and not above 10°F for the next 3 days.
Brrr... Beers 🍻
Time to watch the guys who REALLY know what they're doing.
Yes cold
I, myself am not planning on doing anything outside Tomorrow through Tuesday. I don't mind cold, but I really hate Arctic cold. If Santa is said to live at the North Pole.................oh, that's right he has Mrs. Claus to keep him warm, lol!
@@scuss2 lol
I live close to the North Pole
I don’t mind it either but Shawn mentions it often how cold it is lol
The jokes are great guys. 😂😂😂
GOOD JOB!

Great work in the shop.
Awesome steering repair. Good luck at KOH.
Good job

I love my sketchers composite toes, grippy on oily stuff and won't electrocute me when I do stupid stuff, cheap too
Been chasing a rear end pop this weekend 👍🏼
Very nice job

Well done on the voiceover 😊
I do welding and fabrication for a living. Why do I enjoy watching it so much on UA-cam? Something is seriously wrong with me!
I'm really surprised Rugged didn't pre-cut those antennas. Looking forward to putting a Rugged Radiuo in my rig and a pair of handhelds with the voice activation capable headsets for "away parties". You do two-way radio for a living? Then, you should know that antenna on a transceiver radio is tuned to the frequencies it transmits on. Changing the length will damage the transceiver.
@beaverc2884 sure but last I checked Rugged had a limited frequency selection that allowed for a pre cut antenna. It has been quite a while
When you install a GPS receiver, you can put the antenna on the hood of the truck, to avoid blasting it with your rugged radio.
Getting more things done for King of the Hammers and everyday use.
good on ya for watch your eyeballs, can't see faint stars, specifically the Pleiades when I look directly at them after doing some short glances at bright stuff, so, don't do that I used to be able to count dozens of stars there when I was a kid
❤❤❤
❤
WHEN YOU Z cut a frame it has more weld ,when you drill a hole on an angle it gives you more shear pin
Hello everyone..
If you check with Midland GMRS radio they make repeaters that work the same frequencies. Get a solar panel and put up high on some hill where youve got dead spots. Hide it from trails.
Frequencies will be yours and anyone you give access to it.
16:28 Looks like a silver skin snake billy big daddy!
Eighth 👊🏻💪🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
If it's ACB radio the antenna should be calibrated to the radio for maximum modulation and signal
always wondered how well your rock buggy would perform on the sand stone with a set of M/H wrinkle wall drag slicks. just wondering. wish had a hobby shop like yours!!!
14:02 Mike, it's not hard to burn aluminum - all you need is some powdered rust, and a sparkler to set it off.
I suspect those are GRMS radios with tone codes. Some radios will scan for tone if you have the repeater freq. Radio nerd stuff. Rugged radios are rebranded Baofeng.
You had me confused: GMRS...
Your front tires on the buggy look like the rear on my SxS. They actually grip good, but rain snow or mud would be bad
Hey Rory you should order a Pedal Commander for the mini mater I put one on my jeep and I put one on every vehicle I get now lol it's so freakin nice to have the most proper throttle response especially when you need it most just try it if you don't like it I'll never comment on your videos again 😅

It's good enough for now! Till its not l. You fix it?
Cooly Mon!
FWIW, I don't think you're going to like the mic mounted on the ceiling. It will probably end up just laying someplace.
Truckers that store their microphone up high in the cab will often have a spring loaded reel that pulls the mic back up when you let go of it.
Race frequency=mass spectrometer/whip length * rotary girder. Other than that, dang that’s built.
btw, if you ever run into someone that has all the race truck, but no driver, i'd like to introduce myself. i've wrecked like 100 trophy trucks, but dang was it awesome! no for real, they call me the ricky bobby of the mojave
Enjoyed watching guys. What’s next?🤷
'...and make decisions from there" like all of life...
If you don’t start it whilst the exhaust is cut up did you really do anything at all?
Remember that time Mike limp wristed that hammer and hit his thumb....😢😮😅
did you notice matts offroad is not useing the little xbrace straps for towing with wrecker lately.
Oh yeah for real rubber duck ? And ? 😊😅😂
My grill spatula handle broke so I welded a 3 out of four wrench on it 😅
21:05 Gesundheit!
Need a gear keeper for that mic

Let's not us into temptation. ooh coo ca chew. Be well.

Would you want burning hot power steering fluid searing the flesh off your legs if a hose pops?
@ddt6352 that's definitely something I was missing, thanks for the info.
I've never seen you guys sharpen a drill bit ever, there are gadgets for that if you cant do it freehand
If that hole was crooked, then the bolt was a crooked match!
Yeah. Mini mater sounds like a Honda now😞
Cause you will blow your finals if it's not matched correctly I should know I just blew mine it can be repaired
What is that Someone asks tell them I don' t know lol
Sounds like mad hornets
Hard to believe that you guys are still using that silver anti-seize. Something about a horse and water.
By removing the squeak ,you have removed all possible comments, the camera will need to figure and another noise to pick up .

W h y not put the antenna on top of the lift boon. You can adjust the height to get better reception when needed
