Just picked up a pair and I think they blow the hd650 out of the water. Considerably more detail and clarity across the board but also the harshness that was sometimes present with vocals on the 650 just gone. The bass is far more extended and detailed and can have some some decent impact with a little eq bump at the low end. The imaging is also noticeably better and soundstage is a touch wider.
But the HD 650 is more smoother and midrange forward emphasis, with recessed treble, its more relaxed and better. But yes 660S just sound better than HD650, enough said !
This a review that represents what do I really hear with HD660s. Some reviewers say that it’s not that amazing as HD650 but the truth is, it helps me to correct my hearing and ever since I used HD660s I find the MDR V6 to be bassy.
The best thing about you is your honesty and honestly speaking you have an admirable quality of connecting with people at least that's what I feel..Every single video of yours puts a smile on my face sometimes I even laugh. In this video it happened to me at 7:30... great job keep up the good work....
It has just been 3 days since I have started to turn the stones in audiophile territory and while searching for which headphone to buy to strat my journey, I found your channel. I must say, I love your content, the accuracy, the delivery and the subtle nuaunces that you mention gives almost cmplete if not perfect idea of the product.
Nice review Josh! I picked up the 660S as an "Open Box" item for an awesome price and your sterling review convinced me that they're a bargain even at full retail! Thanks again for the great work in this review!
I have been using iFi Zen DAC v1. balanced connection with HD660s and I love the experience. Very smooth, natural and realistic sound with a touch of warmth. With 150 ohm impedance I never need to turn the volume above 11 o’clock. They are not heavy, I can listen for a few hours without feeling fatigue. I mainly listen to classical music which I think HD660s is excellent for this genre. No matter it’s Chopin’s nocturne (solo piano) or Schubert’s string quartets or symphonies from Beethoven and Mahler involving 100 + pieces of instruments of varied tones and textures, the HD660s reproduces them with ease and accuracy. The HD660S makes me feel I am sitting right in the best seat of the concert hall.
I’ve given you some harsh criticism in the past for your reviews. However, I can always provide praise when it’s well deserved and here it is. You’ve done a great job here sir. Kudos!
Just under 5minutes into this review and dude nailed this, already easily the best description of there sound. I sold my 660 already but this reminds me of exactly what I thought of them, keeps the strong points of the 600/650 and improves on them and he nailed the signature to I'd call them almost dead center between 600 and 650 sound but with said improvements. Another one well done, if this was the first of your videos I watched I would of thought you were doing this for years.
Joshua Valour very impressive, I'm happy you did headphones I've already heard before doing all the newest stuff, now i know I can get some good perspective on stuff I haven't heard yet. Gotta say my favorite reviewer is/was currawong but on a different level you are on top.
Why did you sell your 660s? I am thinking of either getting the 6xx's or these for music + gaming purposes and I am not sure if the price difference is warranted. Can't test them unfortunately :(
Nice Car M8 it is hard to gauge how much value an individual would place on the 660 improvements over the 6xx. If the rest of your system is where you want it and the extra money doesn't bother you then I would say yes they are easily worth the money. If they are going to be used for mostly gaming then the 660 is going to be a much better choice in my opinion, imaging and soundstage alone are going to be worth it in your case. When it comes to music I think it would be purely a matter of preference, 600= neutral, good mid range and treble, 650= warm, good bass, nicer detail retrieval and soundstage than 600 but not as neutral, 660s= neutral but still very good dynamic bass and treble while retaining 6xx line of amazing mid range. 660 is clearly the best (imo) and if you don't mind the extra expense or don't mind picking up an open box or used pair on eBay you can get them for about the price of a new 650 or maybe even slightly less. What amp/dac are you going to be using?
Nice Car M8 and the reason I sold my 660 was I just had to many other headphones that I liked more and felt were more capable as well and 660 ended up sitting unused for a few weeks so I decided to pass them on
Great review Josh, not too long, not too short - just right! They sound great, but the price increase over the “previous models” is not justified, especially when much has not changed. If a new BMW 3 Series came out with the same chassis and body panels, new doors, engine performed a little better but it cost 50% more than the outgoing model, no one would buy it! I’m a big Sennheiser fan, but see these as a $400 headphone at most. Especially when something like a DT1990 has far superior build. Coming across a bit negative here, I’d still love a pair, but I’ll wait until it’s more affordable.
Making a purchase decision while watching this review. Watching the same review again through the purchased 660s before even listening any music on them. That’s my tribute to your review. Keep it up 👍🏾
@@worldview3182 they are still my primary gears. Quite satisfied the way they deliver the sound. Can blindly suggest you the same as they 100% work the same way as reviewed by Joshua
So true about trumpet. I tried several headphones recently Beyer Dynamic, AKG. Decent sounding gear but none of them could reproduce Miles Davis’ trumpet in Kind Of Blue with the finesse that the HD660s did. It was effortless all the others just suffered in comparison
Alright! I finally bought my first pair of "hi-res" headphones, with the HD660S, on sale. And, yeah, it's fantastic. There's just no doubt. It's incredible how much more details there can be, and it's quite fascinating to relisten to anything you though you knew by heart and rediscover everything. You just want to keep listening.
been using the 660s for 6 months now for gaming and movies. and i have never heard sound this good in my life. i play eft mostly and god i can soundwhore so bad with these. so happy with the hd 660s
@@MisterBeRight oh man you're going to love them. have fun listening with them :-) keep in mins that if you want them to perform at their full capacity you need a dac/amp to power them. otherwise you wont get their full sound quality
Recently bought this on sale for $350.00 to use with my FiiO K5 Pro and I only have one gripe. I now realize how bad my beloved M50Xs sound. Used them for years and loved them but now the HD660S is my daily driver for music. It sounds phenomenal. Treble is never too much, mids are direct and bass is just right and never overpowers the rest of the music.
I was going to buy the same headphone and amp+dac, but I hesitated after reading online how much people shit on them, and how dt 1990 is far superior. did you by any chance try the dt 1990? I use headphone daily from 4 hours to 10 hours, and heard that Dt 1990 is not great while listening for a long period of time.
@@xXx0MASTER0xXx Haven't tried the DT1990 as they are a little too expensive for me. I don't understand why anyone would shit on the HD660S when they sound phenomenal to me HOWEVER it is heavily dependent on the quality of the recordings and files. Unlike my M50s which mask a poor quality recording the HD660S highlights their flaws. Also the fact that I can wear them for hours and feel zero discomfort (gotta wait for the clamping force to wear off) is a major pro in my book.
@@Enigma1990ad I actually bought HD660s, at first I didn't like it and I actually regretted buying it. I read that It takes a while to get used to the new sound, and it is true, after a week of only listening to HD660s it sounds really good. Although the bass is a little bit lacking but it has more quality if that makes sense.
@@xXx0MASTER0xXx Yup it's more controlled and tight and not bloated and overdone like it is in the M50X which I no longer use for music. I love my HD660S...best thing I bought in 2021 hands down.
Competitive, because they do separate things. So, honestly, you could own both, without too much overlap in sound. But, watch the full comparison to see which fits your preference.
Honestly, overall get 1990, you want great highs, like, honestly, get 660 then, but if you want overall goodness And clarity And accurate And percise sound just, 1990
I waited on these after reading some bad reviews on a few forums. I got my 660s ( after 4 years) at the Sennheiser Refurb Outlet for 50% off and I think they are Freaking Great! Thanks for the review!
Sennheiser HD660s from amazon U.K. is £320 up to date as of 24th October 2019 getting mine on Saturday. 😀 then saving up for a headphone amp. Love your videos
Just bought these today and I knew they were awesome but wanted to see what your reaction was to them. Honestly I think you should do another revisit of this headphone and where they stack up today in the audio field. Amazon has them on sale $300. Insane value. Hopefully I’m blown away.
I actually got these over some other technically better headphones and i don't regret it. it brings something to the table that is almost unbeatable in the way of presence
I don’t know if they’re worth 500. But now they’re about 400-430, and I got my used , like new for 289, and they are indeed in perfect condition. No driver rattling with extreme bass EQing, no physical damage , still has that new product smell, absolute steal . I’d say if you can snag these for 300-350, do it. Hands down. Especially when paired with good amp and or dac
Great Video as usually man! I've been watching many of your Videos to learn a bit about hifi headphones and start into this Hobby. Great content and very helpful with all the reviews and comparisons.🔥
Just watched the intro and had to pause the video and comment. That was pretty cool. 🤘 Now I'm gonna just watch it again and continue with the video ^^
Krannaken TV You like jazz? Because if the answer is yes then you’ll love the HD660S. Alternatively, I would go for the HD650/6XX’s which the 6XX you can get for $220 on Massdrop and they are a little bit more diverse in my opinion. Being somebody who owns HD600’s, HD660S’ and has messed around with my dad’s 6XX (same as 650’s). For reference, the 650’s are kinda sorta in between the 600’s and 660S in terms of sound signature and the way it shifts and the sound is the most diverse of the three.
Yeah though the DT 1990 Pro might be the Rolls Royce... Never the less, im still thinking bout the 660S coz it may be easier to drive my Focusrite 2i2 external usb sound card, as well as theyr probably lighter & easier to keep 4 hours in a row than some well built Beyerdynamics. If one is into music production the easy weight thing is a big one, as well as the hugging on head. 1990s improved there to, but iv heard there alittle on the extreme end. Another thing to note, they may be more sensitive to require extremely good quality audio. While im hoping the Sennhisers to be slightly more forgiving since theyr "less detailed.." Hence, better for a wider range of audio material..
3DFX I don’t know if you can say the 1990s are the “Rolls Royce” for anything other than what you personally enjoy them for. I’ve heard Focal Utopia headphones and wouldn’t call them a one-size fits all because there are no cans that are objectively the “best for everything”. I can only agree on that claim for Focal Grand Scala Utopia speakers, and those are over $60k for the speakers alone. I would say it’s unfair to compare the HD660S’ to any Beyerdynamics as the Beyer’s no doubt have more treble sparkle and a V-shape. A fun sound, some good for mixing like the 1770’s, but the 660S’ are not good for mixing as far as I am concerned. The 6XX would be a better fit and even then would not be my go-to, nor do the DT1990s have all music lovers interests in mind. The HD660S’ are more lax on the highs and forward in the mids. Mid detail is greater but the high detail is there, but since it’s recessed in expression it is not presented the same as Beyers. The low end is a common focus with the Beyers and going to be more competitive and less natural for rock, rap, electronic, punk and the sort. Even the very similar in theory 600’s, 650’s and 660’s are drastically different depending on the level that you compare them at, and there are things that I go back and forth on with the 650’s and 660 S’, even though the 660 S’ are twice the cost. I have a pair of Sendy Aivas on the way (eventually; from a drop) and I don’t expect them to be a one size fits all, nor do I expect that from the Focal Elex’s that I have my eyes on. Some cans I would say cover a broader range well, but the good ones that cover a narrower range *typically* cover that range the best (arguably). That’s why it makes sense for you to have more than 2 pairs of cans. I still like the 600’s but I have an acquired taste that pushes me more to the 650/660 sound. The 600’s are great cans and there is some that I prefer them for, but it is the minimum of all of my cans. I even own the HE-4XX. They have sweet qualities to them that pushed me towards the Aivas, but there’s differences that go well with some things and poorly combine with others.
I saw the review before buying the hd660s and I didn’t understand at all. Now I’m watching again the review after 2 weeks of use the headphones, and now I understand more, this guy know how explain the sound of the headphones. I’m keeping the hd660s and waiting for the hd800s. I’m using toppingD90 mqa and the new topping A90 amp.
Just picked these up in the sale for £250 to be my do everything headphone and also run off my phone. Im not at all disappointed and suprised how good they sound without an amp.
I was looking at getting these, and I have a couple questions; if you have the time. 1) Are these still viable in Fall 2020? or would you recommend a different pair/model? 2) If I mostly listen to Spotify premium, (320k bit rate streaming), am I just wasting my money on a set of headphones at this price range? I know many people say and apparently have found that high bit rate mp3 and AAC files are often indistinguishable from lossless, but I was curious of your opinion on this? Amazing content btw, definitely love your delivery of information.
I have the HD 6XX and everyone said that the bass was lacking. I plugged it into my amp on my computer and listened to all sorts of musics, I only once thought the bass could be better/stronger, and turning on bass boost in windows settings fixed it. No problems with the bass on the 6XX for me. I like bass, I even listened to some hip hop/rap and that was the only time I wanted to turn on bass boost. It’s definitely a personal preference thing. It ran fine off my phone too even with the 300 ohm impedence, it wasn’t too quiet, and again, just turning on bass boost fixed the bass issue, if you can even call it an issue.
Everyone said the sound stage was not extremely wide on the 6XX too, I also disagree with this, and I have heard it widens as you use it. (“That’s what she said” in a Michael from The Office voice). If I ever get the chance to try to 660 S, I definitely would, because I have absolutely no complaints about any of the things people were complaint about the 6XX and praising the 660 S for.
It's good, but to really get the most out of it, I need a higher quality headphone amplifier. The chain in front is very high quality, but the headphone amplifier is only an ifi nano ican. The Sennheiser HDVA 600 would probably be an adequate gain.
Great review Josh. This is another Axel Grell design that seems to split the head-fi community straight down the middle, from the day Tyll wrote his 'mixed bag, but not MY bag' review a couple of years back. The people who hung on Tyll's every word got very bent out of shape when he removed some very expensive headphones from his 'Wall of Fame' - sad bastards seemingly unable to make their own purchase decisions without that all-important affirmation.
Entry Level ??? Trust me u gone buy or Listen a lot of Expensive headphones that will sound better on something compared to HD 660s... But u will never have a headphone that is good on everything like HD 660s u will always go back to HD 660s even the pads or the weight will make u go back not only the sound.
Love your vidoes... I got these about 2 years ago... Very happy with them... Use the Fiio Q2 amp to drive them... These are my first headphones... How much does the quality vary if one uses different dacs/amps for headphones???
You should ask zeos to let you borrow his hd800 or 800S and compare to the 1990 and 660 to see if it’s worth the upgrade since 800’s can be had used for $700
I have both the 600HD and 660s but i wonder how an upgrade to fully balanced could change the sound? Would the resolution increase becuase that´s what i miss in both of them. Quest! Can you do that???
Hi! I recently purchased the HD660S to go join my family of HD600 & HD650 headphones. I wanted to ask; can i use the pentaconn cable that came with it with the HD600 & HD650? I know the HD660S is 150ohm & the other aforementioned two are 300ohm so not sure if the pentaconn cable will work correctly if i plugged it into my HD600/650. It also says on the Sennheiser website for the HD660S: "We packed your HD 660S with a versatile set of essential cables, each one impedance-matched with ultra-low capacitance." This is where i get confused... Is the pentaconn cable impedance-matched to the 150ohm thereby making it a bad match for the 300ohm HD600/650? Thank You in advance for the advice & clarification!
Hi, i would have a question : Does it catch the dust inside ? Cause on the pictures it looks like a transparent grid from the outside. If so how do you clean it up once the dust goes in ?
My question is: is the 58X Jubilee basically the 660S, in terms of sound? According to multiple reviewers, the 660S sounds a lot like the 58X at 3X’s the price. What are your thoughts Joshua?
the only two differences are that there is a foam under the 58x mesh (you can get them out in like 2 min) and that there is a paper sticked to the back of the driver on the 58x which makes very little difference
i have them both and to me the 660s sounds more detailed overall. cleaner bass, less grain in the treble. i would call the 660s more "fresh" sounding. the 58x does have more thump in the subbass. if you eq them both to the harman curve like i do they become more similar but i can still hear more detail in the 660s.
@Otie Jasoni will actualy admit my overspending on the 660s. they are definitly not worth 3 times the price. I like them both but i prefer to use the 660s with sonarworks profile since there is no profile for the 58x. Also my hd600 even sounds different in some aspects when both have the profile enabled. My etymotic er4xr sounds better than all of them in most aspects except soundstage.
I currently have PXC-550 wireless. Considering the HD660 for home listening with dedicated amp. Will I see a big sound quality upgrade from the PXC-550?
I hate veiled trebles, Joshua....I had the senheiser hd 595 and it were veiled in trebles....so, what i really want to know is which one is the best senheiser headphone that has clear, not veiled trebles!
I had to spend over 5.000 on headphones just to go back for HD660s sound. I guess i have to pay to realized that for my self. Some was better on something but none of them was good on everything like HD660s are.

What portable Dac goes better with this headphone? I have Zero ideas. Please recommend. What about Sennheiser GSX 1000? Can you please review it? I will buy this later need your help brother. What kind of Dac should I buy? I love the portable one because I can use it for everything. All in one. I listen to songs, soundtrack, games, watch movies. I'm actually an Audiophile. Hey Joshua, just discovered your channel and really enjoy your reviews. I thinking about buy the HD660 to use with my Marantz SA-11S3 SACD player and want to know do I need an separate headphone amp to get the most out these headphones and best listening experience? Let me know your thoughts. Also, just check on the manufacturer site and the HD660s is less expensive compared to the price Amazon. Just FYI. Thanks for you reviews and input. S
as an audiophile, i have to state; the headphone jack output out of your SACD player will do a fine job. Don't waste additional money. am i correct to assume you were referring to the headphone jack output on your SACD player, right?
I can get these new for $350 :D maybe good 2nd head phone to add to compliment my DT 1990. Man I see why this is a addicting product segment to fall into. Praise the audio gods.
@@pietossing Each to their own I guess. The HD 650 has a much smoother and more refined sound with miles better timbre which makes them more realistic sounding. Bass on the HD 650 and 660 is exactly the same in amplitude, but the 'pissy bass' that you describe can be fixed with the KISS mod, also giving more sub bass extension than the 660s. The 660s also has a tremendous lack of presence in the upper treble in comparison with the 650, literally making it sound like I have received hearing damage whenever I wear my hd 660s. I have most mid range sennheiser open backs dating back to the early 1980s and the 650 stands above the 660s in most ways. I also find it funny that you are saying that I must have never listened to the 660s only because my opinion differs from yours. What a perfect little life you must live.
Hi, how are you? I would like to know wich one of these models have the best "clarity" treble: senheiser hd 600 or 660? I had se nheiser hd 595, and,for me, the sound looked a little without clarity on tre trebles!tnaks in advance!
I ended up buying the hd 58x and i only use headphones for gaming, While i do like them, the top of my ear touches the foam in front of the driver ever so slightly and can become a little uncomfortable after a long period, i recently tried some hd 700s and they were alot better but far too loose, the sound was much more detailed and the sound stage and imaging was fantastic. did your ears touch the foam and would you say these are are good midway point between the 58x and 700s?
Im just starting to get into the Hobby and I would like to know what this comunity thinks. What is a better value...the Sennhseiser HD58x for 175 $, new or the sennhseiser HD660s for about 280, used?? Thanks for the help!
This comment is for those newcomers or those considering to buy these headphones. First and foremost, this review is pretty spot on. Is it the best headphone? No... But let me reiterate and emphasize what Josh pointed out b/w 5:18 - 6:15 & 8:47 - 10:00. Dead accurate description
You come across as if you were born to do headphone reviews. To say that i'm "impressed" just doesn't quite articulate the point well enough. Congrats on finding something that its obvious that you excel at. Cheers!
I just put my hands on my hd660s ! Who the fuck says he has no sub bass ? They have a tone , they go really really low , amazing extension , they hit easily 20hz ! That was my only fear , now I 'm so happy, they sound and look amazing ! And don't worry about sub bass , I have also hd8dj and I know for sure , they have the same extension , only the impact is lower ,
Very full and balanced with meat on the mids through low mids. I didn't like the slight recessed upper mids around 3-4khz, though. That killed the headphone for me. If under $300, I would pick up again.
@@Baker.Matthew - Funny you commented. They were $300 last week on the amazon pre black friday 2 day sale, and I DID then pick up another set...lol - Even still, after all this time since they were released, my opinion on them is now even more "meh". I've gone through several more headsets (560s, Sundara, DT1990 being notables), and I really don't think the 660s are that great. They fit a mid-frequency tailored/focused niche, and are generally boring sounding. They need a lot of EQ to sound good to me. They are now more like $200-250 headphones to me. The 560s is the best open back Senn in that range, imo.
Can i run these with a fulla? mainly used for gaming, I already own the headphones but just pluged into the pc atm. :) ty would love a reply. Or any other recommendation
First, I have not tried the M1060C. But, the M1060 is a much different type of headphone. Very hard to compare. I prefer M1060's though. But, not as much for a "reference" Headphone.
I have the b&w p7 wireless and love them. How do these compare? Im looking for a high quality hp which would mostly be used to listen to music such as kings of leon, the eagles, crowded, stereophonics, U2 etc Thoughts?
That's my dilemma, some many contradictory opinions about the two I live my 650s easily my favorite of the many cans I have had they are just so smooth and comfortable they just do their job so we'll you forget they are they. Having said that I would appreciate more bass and sub bass impact and body in the 650 but the difference between the two doesn't seem worth the upgrade, if anything it prompts me to grab another hd 650 before they are discontinued
Hey Joshua, Love the channel! I picked up the HD660's back in April and couldn't be happier. Do you know of/recommend any headphone amps that allow you to connect more than one pair of headphones?
Jared Gaudette If your HD660’s came with the same 4.4mm balanced cable that mine came with, I recommend getting a female 4.4mm to XLR adapter and getting a headphone amplifier like the Schiit Jotunheim which has balanced and single-ended outputs that work simultaneously, the only problem is that the levels are controlled by the same pre-amp, so you’ll want headphone that have a high enough sensitivity on single-ended to match the relatively low-sensitivity HD660’s on balances which will be louder.
The 600 line have always done great with otl amps such as the bottlehead crack with speedball. Always heard how terrifc/synergistic this pairing has been over the many years. I use a elekit tube headphone amp/speaker amp and it's a terrific pair i guess with my 650. Be intersting to hear if anybody has tried a otl amp on the 660s. Hopefully another magical combo😀 my centrance class a hifim8 transportable amp/dac is another terrific pairing with the 650 and would love to try the 660s! Thanks josh😀
Good review man!! Your production quality is beyond most if not all reviewers I follow & your reviews have caught up to that bar. Well done brother!!
In this video it happened to me at 7:30... great job keep up the good work....

the explanation of the sound was exactly what I experienced, very accurate
Kudos!
Just bought one of these and I have to say HD660 have unbelievable sound quality.
All across the spectrum you can hear full clarity.
Quality content, well done Josh. Thanks for making my purchase choice so much easier - love your passion!
Nope, only about half a year. But, thank you very much!!! (don't look at the old stuff hahaa)
Coming across a bit negative here, I’d still love a pair, but I’ll wait until it’s more affordable.
they're on sale for $400 now on the Senn website if you still don't have a pair
Making a purchase decision while watching this review.
Watching the same review again through the purchased 660s before even listening any music on them.
That’s my tribute to your review.
Keep it up 👍🏾
I’m about to buy some 660s. Can you offer any advice on if they are worth the purchase now that you’ve had them for about half a year ?

@@xXx0MASTER0xXx Yup it's more controlled and tight and not bloated and overdone like it is in the M50X which I no longer use for music. I love my HD660S...best thing I bought in 2021 hands down.

Do you find the competitively close or would be happy to chose one over the other without spoiling things?
Competitive, because they do separate things. So, honestly, you could own both, without too much overlap in sound. But, watch the full comparison to see which fits your preference.
1990
Honestly, overall get 1990, you want great highs, like, honestly, get 660 then, but if you want overall goodness And clarity And accurate And percise sound just, 1990
I waited on these after reading some bad reviews on a few forums. I got my 660s ( after 4 years) at the Sennheiser Refurb Outlet for 50% off and I think they are Freaking Great! Thanks for the review!

Cool review bro. The little story on you becoming an audiophile from starting as a basss head at the Kraken was hilarious!
Gosh, your review makes me want to spend $500 on headphones.
Don't watch any more reviews, especially not one about the 800s :)
Hands down. I am getting these very soon. From what I hear the 660S are the Porsche or Lambourghini of the audio world.
Use my 6xx's with my LG v30/g7 and get fantastic sound. I'm actually going for these soon.
Tell us if you like the upgrade.
hd600 was the first pair of audiophile headphones i ever bought and i love them
I was ABing my LCD X and 600 and you are right on on the vocal separation. The 600s mid range felt like it removed a veil from the LCD X

Thanks, Joshua. I'm sold! Getting them now.
Great review. Would you choose 660s or 600 ? for jazz, classical, gospel. I have a micro idsd black.
Excellent review. Would like to hear your thoughts about comparison to 560s and how the value of 660s are now with Amazon price of $336.
@Otie Jason Definitely no one at all.

It's good, but to really get the most out of it, I need a higher quality headphone amplifier. The chain in front is very high quality, but the headphone amplifier is only an ifi nano ican. The Sennheiser HDVA 600 would probably be an adequate gain.
@@3Schneewittchen Oh okay. I'm using the topping dx3 myself. Does the job.

It also says on the Sennheiser website for the HD660S: "We packed your HD 660S with a versatile set of essential cables, each one impedance-matched with ultra-low capacitance."
This is where i get confused...
What are your thoughts Joshua?
they are almost the same. Just grab the 58x
the only two differences are that there is a foam under the 58x mesh (you can get them out in like 2 min) and that there is a paper sticked to the back of the driver on the 58x which makes very little difference
i have them both and to me the 660s sounds more detailed overall. cleaner bass, less grain in the treble. i would call the 660s more "fresh" sounding.
the 58x does have more thump in the subbass. if you eq them both to the harman curve like i do they become more similar but i can still hear more detail in the 660s.
No
@Otie Jasoni will actualy admit my overspending on the 660s. they are definitly not worth 3 times the price. I like them both but i prefer to use the 660s with sonarworks profile since there is no profile for the 58x. Also my hd600 even sounds different in some aspects when both have the profile enabled.
My etymotic er4xr sounds better than all of them in most aspects except soundstage.

@@dnalekaw4699 The 650 is trash in comparison. It's not as clear and it pisses bass on everything. You obviously haven't actually heard a 660S.
Very full and balanced with meat on the mids through low mids. I didn't like the slight recessed upper mids around 3-4khz, though. That killed the headphone for me. If under $300, I would pick up again.
I wish this was under $300. Senn doesn't seem to like reducing prices though. :/

@@leev2463 thank you mate
Is it worth upgrading to these from the HD 58x?
I'm seriously considering getting 'em 660Ss. (Coming from the 600s)
HD660S vs HD6XX ? Which one is better in what ways ?
660s!
Are the HD800s worth the extra over these 660's?
Hey Joshua,
Love the channel!
Nice video. What are your thoughts on the Audio Technica ATH-AD2000x?
Hey you think you could do a comparison between the 660s and the amiron home
i got them when they were on sale i cant wait to get them
The 600 line have always done great with otl amps such as the bottlehead crack with speedball.
