first time I heard Floor a bit breathless when she said thank you. Imagine next second she was OK again :)
What always impresses me about Floor is doing a windmill for one minute, then walk to the microphone and sing if nothing's happened. Normal people are completely out of breath after a long windmill.

He did the melody for Stargazers instead of the actual solo, maybe he wanted to pay homage to that one that got left out of the setlist lol
I actually really like that they didn't reproduce the Tarja era version of this song with Floor. We already have that version and Floor isn't that singer. I know that others want that but to me this makes more sense just like all covers should, they have made it their own.
I dunno, some renditions of the old songs work magic with Floor doing it her way. While others don't at all, this being one of them, this NEEDS the operatic voice to make it all work, and this has nothing to do with who the vocalist is, it's style of singing which suits the song no matter who it is. Same goes with Wishmaster, as well as Stargazers, glad Floor kept that way as it should be. Btw, what I mean by making it 'work', not just the vocals but making the overall piece of music work as a unit.
@@WebsterRob I dont know about that as I have tested this song on a few people (6 to be exact) and those that had never heard the original preferred this version! For me I prefer the original but I think it has more to do with whether you appreciate operatic styled singing than the song itself. As humans we seem to attach a lot of emotional baggage to pieces of music and then quite often are unable to hear past that baggage! Even after one listen your brain seems to go well that is how it is meant to sound. I am speaking very generally here not having a go at you...when I first heard Floors version of this I went whaaat? NO but then read Tuomas' explanation of the new live versions and just treat them as covers. I agree some work better than others and this version is only ok for me. Stargazers is a total miss for me by either I never liked the song for the operatic styled vocals as it is too fast and live sounds horrible regardless of who I have heard it sung by! From Floors semi operatic style I now know some of the words but I still don't like the song it is just a mess and this my concern about the new album is whether the words become a mess as that will ruin a lot of the songs for me...
@@WebsterRob Really? I heard the original first and it's of course great, but I love this one too. Floor is too good of a singer, she does everything with good taste. Couldn't choose between the 2 but the non-operatics are totally fine when done this well IMO.

Hynynen of Kotiteollisuus published a photo of Tuomas playing the keys with the text very typical from him: "The cantor on the premises!", meaning Tuomas is going to play on the comming album of Kotiteollisuus. He has played with them before. Now Tuomas has time for that when Nightwish isn't touring.
(Hynynen's wife, an actress, used to be my mother's tenant years ago.)

This is one of the first NW songs I heard that got me hooked on them. Check out the older live version with Tarja. They all look like high schoolers, but sound phenomenal. Look for "live on tv 1999".

Unusual to say, but US is behind on appreciation of a great art form; but I am committed on changing that. Only found this amazing band in last two months, but has been life changing. Their songs, camaraderie touch the soul. I am a proud new member of the NW Army!

I think this song specifically among some other songs is more of a Tarja song , you should check her performance of this song live
Technically every song til 2005 is Tarja's song =) I also tend to prefer those original versions, even that these are very nice and I like that they have still played these on tour. I still kind of hope that they don't do more of these old classics, because most fanatic Floor fans are ruin Tarja's legacy by putting new version over the originals and even being very rude towards Tarja on comments (+giving dislikes to Tarja reaction videos etc).
I had only Tarja's version of this song (From The Wishes To Eternity 2000) in my playlist and I've never heard "Stargazers" at 4:17. I'm very surprised right now ^_^
Songs to choose from 'only' since -96.
The early songs had a lot of power metal in them, and not yet the massive orchestra background.
But then Tuomas comes more forth with his keys.

This proves that Tarja's note progression style on all NW songs is way different from Floor's style. Both are great.
Wow… really interesting to hear Floor give this one a shot, only Tarja has ever performed it I thought. She did come out a little flat I thought and it’s tough to cover any Tarja song but she bounced back really well.
Also, Troy’s role in this certainly gives it a new twist.

Every time I search reactions for "Gethsemane", this video one here comes up. This one definitely is one of my favorites, but please do the Gethsemane" too, preferably Buenos Aires 2019 or Blockstock 2018. The song is stunning. Kinda funny but the ever changing favorites of mine all happen to be Floor's versions of the songs from 2000 and before... "The Kinslayer" is another one, but may not open up without some "investigation" beforehand.
Less is more on the makeup on this one. Loving it. :)

When you love only operatic oké, i prefer Floor, she has so much more power and she can do all the styles she want.
Nobody says that Floor does it wrong or that it is not strong and heavy ... Only structurally and musically its old version sounds better, and Tarja's voice contributes something that unfortunately this version did not reach. You have to be objective guys! I love Tarja, but there are Nightwish songs that Floor sings better, however this one, or she is my sing, or the kingslayer, the siren, gethsemane, among many others that do not belong to the album Once they sound better in their original voice.

@@Harolddespui to me more than the accent is just the way her tone sounds, sometimes is beautiful but there are occasions when she makes weird sounds lol don't know how to explain it, and that kills it for me. Whereas Floor is always a beautiful tone, consistent and enchanting, and that to me, is a superior singer.

Guys can we just stop the tarja-floor discussions for once? This is getting boring... The songs sound different with floor, not better not worse than with tarja. There is no wrong or right side when picking a version you like more. It is about personal taste and preferences. What point would there be to play these songs the exact way the did with tarja? Let the band evolve and grow ffs, there are no "tarja" songs, they are nightwish songs, so they are allowed to evolve and change them if they want to... 🙄 If you prefer older versions, watch them. If you prefer the new ones, do the same...
