"Dead Boys Poem" from same concert, is one of Floor's finest vocals....
Quite a dark song - about a soldier fed up with shooting people in war. Absolves himself not to do it anymore after his 10th fatality. Deep.
I like the fanmde video where he uses a WWI battle in a forest (Ardennes?) betweeb British and Germans. Shows the insane massacre of war.
I interpreted it as being about a soldier who mutanied and killed his compatriots, and at the end he was hanged as a traitor for his actions.
Last part of the song made me bawl my eyes out ;(

Ah, this is old skool Nightwish and originally designed for a slightly different voice. For me a bit of an also-ran track, but still has those great riffs. I see people suggesting Dead Boy's Poem, its definitely worth checking out.

Easily my favorite NW song lyrically. The intensity that Tarja said "I'd kill them all to save my own" in the studio version always hit me so hard, one of the very few Nightwish songs that I listen to the studio version of but getting to see them perform it on this tour was a treat! Floor did a wonderful job at the VA Beach show too!

This was a song about the issues a soldier faces when he fights for his country. Marco of course sings the part of the soldier from the perspective of what he is going thru emotionally. Great job Wolf Hunterz.

@@TheWolfHunterZ I guess you wouldn't have smiled quite this much lintening to this "fun song" if you have read the lyrics or the overall message before or during the reaction... or listened to what they were singing... I guess Floor's and Marco's diction isn't very good either...

Decades was the band's 20th anniversary album. Tuomas doesn't like the term "greatest hits", as that's a subjective judgement. he calls the tracks he selected for this album the "essential songs" from their library.

You guys have GOT to check out Scaretale from Nightwish. It has former Lead singer Annette and this is, by far, my favorite song from this group.
Just when you thought Floor couldnt surprise you anymore,she turns herself into a vocal machinegun. You can just see the other female vocalists throw in theyr towels like "There is no point competing againt you Floor,you are several levels above us all."

Next you should check this song out with Tarja singing. I love Floor but Tarja did it better since Tuomas wrote the song with Tarja voice in mind. But you guys should check out more Nightwish with Tarja like Planet Hell and Slaying the Dreamer both from the End of an Era concert to start.

@@ChrisPage68 Yes, they are different songs with Floor, but as an old fan I tend to prefer Tarja's versions. That is not to say, that these are bad. It's usually pretty close call, and on some songs I prefer Floor. But if you can't hear colours in Tarja's voice, you need hearing device =)
In all honesty, I love Floor but this is definitely a Tarja song. This was actually the first song I ever heard and it's the one that got me into Nightwish.

Suzy - Like the Kai Hahto's drum kit? If you watch the drum cam video of Ghost Love Score with Kai you will see that they glow in the dark when the lights are turned down during the intermission 😁.
When Jenn & Sonny watched the whole 2013 Wacken Concert Sonny said something about not being sure if he would have the energy to rock that hard from start to finish during a 1 hour 45 min concert. I think you have to choose at which songs you take it a bit easy and rest, and when to bang your head off.

I'm not normally one to compare Floor to Tarja. They are both phenomenal vocalists, but 10th Man Down with Tarja on vocals just sounds better and (not the best word, but cant think of a different one...) bigger to my ears. Floor did an amazing job, but Tarja's operatic style just seems to give the chorus even more power! Check out one of the older versions with Tarja for fun.
Like I said, I'm not a "Tarja only" fanboy, but this is one song where I just happen to prefer Tarja.

Although the song is great composed by Tuomas the meaning is brutal. Every time I hear this song it brings me back to the places where I didn’t wanted to be. Only because dictators ordered me a loyal soldier to fight their wars. For what? For the sake of mankind? No, for nothing less than to hold their own political position. It just brought me back into my past trauma.

Just for your own interest listen this songs original version sang by Tarja. I absolutely think Floor is the best vocalist on earth because of the range of her voice, but somehow this song kicks in a different way in the original version, sang completely with an operetic voice. There are some songs I prefer more sang by Tarja, this, romanticide and wishmaster for example. 😁

Are you guys a couple? I cannot for the life of me figure it out.
They tried to adapt it but this one and , Wishmaster and Deep Silent Complete really don't work for me with Floor, I like Floor a lot but not here.
First time for me hearing the Floor version. I usually love her interpretations of songs written for old school Tarja, but this one doesn’t quite work.
I would add Slaying the Dreamer to that list.
