Absolutely fantastic tutorial!!!
I don't even have a cycle, leave aside a Gold Wing !!! Watched the whole video intently !!!
4 to 5 hours? Remind me not to buy a 2018. It just took me 45 min to put one on my 2008. But, always appreciate your videos. Be Blessed
Those little plastic push-pins can be a pain after they get a few years old. I bought about two hundred of them in various sizes. Two of them broke in the last week while disassembling parts of my goldwing. when they get old often they break when you push the pin down to release them, they must get brittle?
Why do you have to remove the bottom liner when working on the lid? Also where do you plug the light harness in?
Are full time RVsWhat can you fit on that small rack though? Seems tiny.
Reason why Iask is I have a Kuryakyn Grand PEt Palace that my 10kg Schnauzer loves to tour in with us. (We are full time RVers so have to take him if we both go.
I neeed to replace my Victory XCT (totaled) which had the Kuryakyn top box rack ( was very easy to install, 1 hour).
Looking at the 2018 GW and I doubt either would fit?
If I break those tabs is game over?
Picture and graphic quality is excellent in all your videos. How much weight can that accessory take?
Thanks for the compliment. Unfortunately, the rack is only rated for 5 lbs! I am sure 10 would not be a problem, but really it is only good for rolled up rain suits or jackets.
I learn a lot from you, you are the real deal 🏍
what parameters to buy this actuator, telescope?
Nice job on the detailed install. I like the looks of this rack however I doubt I would go through all this effort just to install this brand of rack. I think I would search for a unit more inline with previous model units where the install involves drilling four holes and a quick install. Or I would fabricate on myself as it would probably take less time than installing this item.
Ive stripped out one of the screws that hold in the latch u-bolt, any recommendations for securing that screw?
Did you strip the screw or the hole it goes into? If it is the plastic hole, you can try a couple of things. Cut a small strip of plastic from a cable tie and try to shim it into the hole and see if that is enough for the screw to bite into. If not, you can try to fill it with JB Weld, let it completely set, then CAREFULLY drill a small pilot hole to screw into. You would probably have to have the trunk lid off the bike to do this.
Did you cut off the rubber pulls after you installed the rubber pads on top of the rack?
I have not yet
Do you plan to or see a reason not to? The installation instruction do not say to do this but they don’t look good sticking down under the rack. Thanks
Do you think this rack adds to the looks of the bike? I am still debating between this rack and the pathfinder LED or skipping the rack and just getting the goldstrike. i want which looks best/best lighting though, the rack itself is not a huge deal to me as I will likely not use it except to close the trunk to keep finger prints off.
same here. question question. especially for 5 hours work...
Holy moly, that is a lot to do just to mount that. Good job though.
A lot of steps, but none are really that difficult. Just takes time. But, a dealer will charge $200 to $300
@@cruisemansgarage Ouch. That's why I do everything I can myself, as you do too. Now I just have to get me my Goldwing. Lol. Next couple of years.
NOTE: There are some errors in this video. I would upload a newer version, but UA-cam really does not have a way to do that without losing the view count and annoying you with notifications. I have uploaded a new, updated video to Vimeo: vimeo.com/cruiseman/rackinstall
I notice that you didn't show the hour long fight to get that inner liner lined back up...grrrrr
Took me about 15 minutes. Do you really want to sit through that video?
You diddnt even ahow what it looked like on the bike. Waste of time
