An obscure board game containing classified technical information about military hardware is the 80's version of War Thunder players leaking classified information about military hardware to win online arguments
I heard a story about Tom Clancy about how he guessed the location of a top secret military base. Essentially, in the book “Red Storm”, America has an Air Force base located in Iceland, that ended up being attacked by the Russians. The thing is, the US actually did have an air force base, almost exactly where Clancy had said it was in his book, but its existence had not been revealed to the general public yet. When asked how he knew the base’s location, he simply said “It made the most sense to have an Airforce base there”.
The airforce has recently had to courte martial soldiers at secret nuclear bases because they would order pizza to the front door, in one case they used an old pizza box to prop open a door for the delivery person.
If Tom Clancy was alive today, he would be the dude collecting all the info of Pokémon glitches for a speed run and create and optimal path, despite never speed running
I think the best thing about this is that top level classified information Has to be the same as functional information so if you are just a full on nerd, you basically know all the secrets this by putting in the effort without a government paycheck
I'm in the military and our hangar doors with helicopters used the default code too. We changed them out, so it's not true any more. Well we didn't change one of them out, but it's been broken for a couple years, so it doesn't matter if you put in the correct code. It was the only actually secure hangar door.
Tom's guessing was apparently almost as accurate as actual spies working together with think tanks. There is a lot of educated guessing about opponents capabilities, and very large elaborate deceptions such as entire towns that were fake and only looked real from a plane. It is impressive that he was that accurate with limited data...and just imagining what parts he had no data for and only guesses.
My dad used to read all his books. When I got really into reading ( around 11 yo) I read most of those. But there was one book or a pair of books where they used VR. I loved those
Dead by daylight has the best crossovers cause the devs could one day be like "Karl Smallwood has been added to the game." And there's nothing odd about it at all
I love that you mentioned magazine versus clips. That's something that bugs me, lol! I actually did serve, however. 12B - Combat Engineer (Route Clearance). 12 months in Iraq and 13 months in Afghanistan. I didn't know much about Tom Clancy, and found it interesting that he was never actually in the military.
20:04 In fortnite there was a similar thing with the customisable superhero skins where you could put them as completely black, and then epic put a thing in where you can't do that any more
My favorite thing about this channel is that it can go from Tom Clancy leaking real world top aecret info on accident to talking about an atomic lizard that acts as a warning for scientific hubris and a warning against nucular arms to Ninja not getting the flaw in his own statement
We used to have journalist and aurthors hangout on base in bars asking questions when we were drunk. Not knowing they were fishing for information. We were often reminded of these ppl and to report them.
Me and my sisters would play splinter cell so much together but we didn’t take turns. We all had a role. XD I was the stealth and recon, my older sister was the lockpick, and the eldest sister would be the hacker. XD
"Harpoon" is more than an obscure submarine game, it's the comprehensive naval simulation! Newer versions have a Red October scenario in them. And the designer co wrote Red Storm Rising with Clancy.
The creator of the harpoon board game was Larry Bond, who was also a tech war author (red phoenix, vortex being two IIRC). Since the commercial board game is originally from 1980s (the original design being even earlier), the red October scenario is almost as old (my copy from 1990 had the scenario).
Another fortnite accidental pay2win situation is when they released costumizable superhero skins for you to make your own hero to play as but some people just made every color option black with a full face mask to do basically what black noir does in cod. Imagine green ghost from invincible but black. That's how comp players run these skins
What would have been really cool for the homelander thing in cod, is if when he got shot he wouldn’t die obviously, so he would put his hand up like he’s playing airsoft and fly away
Terrorist Hunt on Killhouse in Rainbow Six Vegas 1 & 2 was a great time. More so if you had an Xbox 360 camera and you can take pictures of yourself making a funny face or pictures of celebrities to generate onto your character's face. Lima Oscar Lima
That anteater stuffed animal is one of my favorites! Got mine at the LA zoo! Just watched Hunt For Red October, Tom Clancy was amazing! Kept my adhd ass engaged!
If you like Tom Clancy based games, check out "The Division" both 1 and 2. You don't necessarily need to play them if you don't want to, but at least check out the lore behind them.
Manipulating res gives you a larger hitbox to target, it's not for 'situational awareness' that you should already have at that level of play without extending pov. A wider pov is actually going to reduce your personal scan rate and give you older information to work on than if you just keep your head on a pivot. It's actually a pretty bad habit that is more of a crutch than a skill, for pretty obvious reasons.
He did in fact write a book called 'Rainbow Six' so you were not wrong with the guess lol. Tho Endgame feels like he had some say in it, I think it's pretty obvious to those who read the original series, Bear & Dragon was the last one he actually authored.
I got booted for "hacking" in RSV2 one match. I think people didn't understand that less armor meant more speed and I ran around with an Aug and mowed people down
The consistency and suspension of disbelief is what really makes crossovers clash for me. Like: MOST characters work in a MK crossover. But... NOT when they are extremely superpowered. Like... what are they even doing in this game? Or WHY are they even in the game? It's all very tone deaf tbh.
I'm now left wondering who actually has committed the first real life teabag in warfare and would it be considered a war crime, because someone surely has by now. 🤔
Desecrating a corpse is considered a war crime, and I think a genuine argument can be made that teabagging a real corpse counts as a form of desecration
Movies books and video games surprisingly no TV show based off his books my first N64 game was Rainbow 6 or is I like to call it rescue hostages the video game every single level was a hostage rescue and it eventually gets to be more and more difficult and you might as well forget about the grenades/flashbangs as soon as they explode hostages are taken out
Even though it was six zeros there was still a lot of stuff you had to do before you could even "press the big red button," And remember two people have to be doing every step of this at the exact same time and both of them have to be correct, you had to write down a random sequence of letters that will appear from a loud speaker, open up a box with two locks on it that you and someone else have, then decode the letters that you wrote down to get actual words which would then be your target you would put that into the machine to find a Target otherwise it wouldn't launch, put in those 6 zeroes and turn two keys that are impossible for one person to turn at the same exact time. And I'm pretty sure I'm missing stuff but even still it was still very safe, like yeah it's dumb but was and most likely would, never be an actual issue
Thanks, I'm grateful to know if I need a a taco in London that's made with a caulking gun I can get one! Btw, doesn't US nuclear subs use Xbox 360 controllers for their periscopes?
Blasphemy! Metal Gear Solid is the best original PlayStation game, period. It has aged yes.. but like Resident Evil 2, it's still f*cking amazing. A 69 Dodge Charger is old and behind in technology.. but I'd take it over any of them plastic wannabes we have today.
Used to always watch your videos. Then stopped for years and I don’t know why I really enjoy them. Probably going to have to see what else you have released recently sorry to fall off man. I miss you opening beers with weird objects (I’m also good at this probably not as good as you but anything with an edge)

They said that in a recent video
@@coleames514 there are only like two fact fiend videos I haven't watched so my bad.
Lol what did they say just drive out into the cornfield and knock on the silo?
That absolutely tracks for the airforce...
Thats hard af lol

Tom Clancy: *Shoots guys in the wobblers*
*Female bad guy shows up*
Tom Clancy: "WHAT DO I DO?! THIS WASN'T IN THE DRILL!"
There’s a community of people called OSI open source intelligence that’s whole thing is finding out from public information classified information.
You must call the plushie "George". You must love him, bathe him, and pet him.
It's amazing how incredibly unrealistic Tom Clancy games has become
... depending on perspective.🙃
I love that this channel is just friends talking about some stuff
Hey you guys are awesome. Keep being chill and keep telling people who bash on you to screw off.

Been watching your vids for the past couple weeks everyday man I can’t get enough of this content
The term your looking for is "Gravy Seal"
Tom Clancy is a gravy seal
It's nice to hear Karl say "near by" and whoever is in the video
My dad used to read all his books. When I got really into reading ( around 11 yo) I read most of those.
But there was one book or a pair of books where they used VR. I loved those
I LOVE “Siphon Filter” for so long I haven’t known the name and simply clung to the nostalgia of that first mission 😂😭
Dead by daylight has the best crossovers cause the devs could one day be like "Karl Smallwood has been added to the game." And there's nothing odd about it at all

I always loved Clancy stuff. Red Storm being my favorite book. Only ever had one of the board games. As for my Favorite game with his name. EndWar.
We used to have journalist and aurthors hangout on base in bars asking questions when we were drunk. Not knowing they were fishing for information. We were often reminded of these ppl and to report them.

My favorite adaptation of sam fischer is the one thats lost his legs and still sneak kills people
Im sooo mad that there is no Frank Drebin DLC for any of those games, goddammit
Pretty sure Tom Clancy didn't buy his copy of Harpoon off of eBay in 1981.

R6 Vegas 2 Terrorist Hunt brings back some awesome memories of half terms chilling with my mates
How is Tom Clancy ordering obscure submarine boardgames off eBay? In 1984.....
What would have been really cool for the homelander thing in cod, is if when he got shot he wouldn’t die obviously, so he would put his hand up like he’s playing airsoft and fly away
I missed your whole intro due to staring at that amazing anteater plush.
Terrorist Hunt on Killhouse in Rainbow Six Vegas 1 & 2 was a great time. More so if you had an Xbox 360 camera and you can take pictures of yourself making a funny face or pictures of celebrities to generate onto your character's face. Lima Oscar Lima

there's something so oddly charismatic about petting a plushie anteater's snoot

i use to play Harpoon with a mate of mine back in school in the 80s .. it was a good game..
He did in fact write a book called 'Rainbow Six' so you were not wrong with the guess lol. Tho Endgame feels like he had some say in it, I think it's pretty obvious to those who read the original series, Bear & Dragon was the last one he actually authored.
Pandora tomorrow for the original Xbox had a multi-player that was basically one team is spidermen and the other was punishers. So so soooo fun.
I got booted for "hacking" in RSV2 one match. I think people didn't understand that less armor meant more speed and I ran around with an Aug and mowed people down
Hehe.. first. Also love Clancy’s books no matter how campy they are.
Didn’t realize we were mentioning syphon filter today! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Rainbow 6 on the original xbox one of the first games for xbox live is still one of the best shooters ive played.
it's a flipping anteater... literally.
I'd like to see your take on Cliff Stoll and his tracking down the KGB hackers from Germany
The consistency and suspension of disbelief is what really makes crossovers clash for me.
Like: MOST characters work in a MK crossover. But... NOT when they are extremely superpowered.

I fucking love using the skeletor skin in cod
I saw the image and was like, “SPLINTER CELL VIDEO FUCK YEAH!”
YOOOO Las Vegas 2 was the best. Terrorsit hunt for days.
I am upset they took away my Frank costume. They had a system where the outfits transferred between games, then ended it.
Man I forgot about kill house! So many hours wasted on that level!
14:30 I still think Windows 98 Second Edition was the absolute best OS ever.
If you punch someone that's battery. Threatening them is assault.
Oh My Gosh the Anteater
I got to play Syphon Filter again!
I'm now left wondering who actually has committed the first real life teabag in warfare and would it be considered a war crime, because someone surely has by now. 🤔

The Mirai malware infected a bunch of IoT devices because people did not change the default passwords.
He kind of predicted 911.
PUBG did a crossover with Godzilla and King Kong and you can actually fight them.
Movies books and video games surprisingly no TV show based off his books my first N64 game was Rainbow 6 or is I like to call it rescue hostages the video game every single level was a hostage rescue and it eventually gets to be more and more difficult and you might as well forget about the grenades/flashbangs as soon as they explode hostages are taken out
A Scott was the captain…. And Tim Curry and Sam Neil were officers
10:25 *nyooom*
Wait, Tom Clancy was pulling the War thunder leaks, before War Thunder.
is karl gonna play any of The Finals?
I didn't know Tom Clancy died.😮
Personally i enjoyed CoD Advance Warfare. I haven't played a CoD since.
He had nothing to do with the call of duty franchise
@jeremyirons7367 I know but these guys started talking about CoD.
Tom Clancy games when he was still alive are very realistic to the point where it is less of war crime simulators than Call of Duty of the same time.
The first Rainbow Six was just pure tension in game form. The ship mission was damn near impossible!
Knowing I could play as Mrs. Minaj means I now have the urge to buy a console and this game...😊😅😂
Warzone, the BR mode, is free to play, but the skin costs real money.
Endwar was my clancy game
To be fair, xp was better than 11 or 10...and 8 and vista.
Ah, yes. The SOCOM cosplayers.
Please tell me the board game was Torpedo Run

I'm really hoping they make another ghost recon future soldier
Right. So... uh... massively specialized nerds are some of the best people in the world to have on your side.
I had it on Gameboy
Thanks, I'm grateful to know if I need a a taco in London that's made with a caulking gun I can get one! Btw, doesn't US nuclear subs use Xbox 360 controllers for their periscopes?
So he did a warthunder before warthunder
Great coop games I wish they would make more games like those. The new ones suck.
aaaaand todays sponsor is War Thunder
Nicki Minaj would have definitely wanted to be bad guys cause she's a GANGSTA.
nice
More random facts about video games bring it on metal gear solid halo uncharted they’re always good talking points so keep it coming
Blasphemy! Metal Gear Solid is the best original PlayStation game, period. It has aged yes.. but like Resident Evil 2, it's still f*cking amazing. A 69 Dodge Charger is old and behind in technology.. but I'd take it over any of them plastic wannabes we have today.
I would like the video but it's on 666 and I don't want to change it 😂
Kind of funny you talking about nerds.
Used to always watch your videos. Then stopped for years and I don’t know why I really enjoy them.

Clicked because board games
More.
Snooter.
That is all.
I'm so glad I've stopped playing cod
Rimworld doesn’t have Tom Clancy’s name on it. I’m not a fan of FPS games.
The military simulator is ARMA 🫣 and the MoH series. Everything else is kindergarden
They actually mention those at 6:09. You might have missed it.
