    Hey! I wasn't really interested in pole vaulting until after the season had started. Is it okay to start pole vaulting as a sophmore(in highschool) or is that too late

    I’m a high school vaulter and we don’t have mat or ropes that we can access all the time. Where would you be able to find these? Trying to improve and beat the school record. This video helped thank you.

    • @Dominic.Vocals
      @Dominic.Vocals  6 років тому

      Hey Zach!
      So if you don't have access to any of these the best bet is to find any gymnastic gym near you that does "open gym" usually it costs anywhere from 5-15 bucks to go. And you can play around on all of their equipment for the given time frame usually 1-4 hours. This is probably your safest bet!
      Next bet would be to find a workout gym near you that has a rope, golds, club 24, etc. but this is usually pretty hard to find but sometimes you can get lucky. But it could be a problem doing what were trying to do with the staff of the gym, they might not like it!
      Otherwise talk to your coach and see what you can do about getting some of this equipment. Mabey work something out with the Athletic Director of your high school and do a fundraiser of some sort for the track / polevault team to get some money to get these types of equipment. You can also talk to your coach and athletic director about mabey opening a set time where you can go in and use the equipment on a constant basis.( making a timeframe open for track)
      If you have any questions do not be afraid ask! If you literally can not find any way to use equipment for some of these drills I can give you some more variations that might be helpful!
      Get That School Record !

    Hey I see you have a new vaulter on your team. How do colleges recruit new vaulters. Because Im only vaulting 10”4 and that’s a little ways away from the 14 ft usually needed to do college level. But I love this sport and would really love to just continue with it.

    I'm having trouble inverting with a bent pole. I can invert relatively easily during straight pole drills but once I start doing jumps with a bigger pole that bends, I can't invert at all. Help?

    • @Dominic.Vocals
      @Dominic.Vocals  4 роки тому

      This could be for alot if reasons and it would be easier to help You if you had some video I could watch! Partly it could be do to how active are your hands on the vault, are you allowing your arm to break down (blocking), are you being more timid With a bend. If you wish to send some video send it to stillxfitness@gmail.com

  • @ethan7930
    @ethan7930 5 років тому

    What would you recommend doing in the offseason to prepare for pole vault? I am mostly focused on working on my invert and my pull, turn, push technique.

    • @Dominic.Vocals
      @Dominic.Vocals  4 роки тому

      Off season focus on your weaknesses, it’s a good time to work on getting stronger as well as tweaking and taking steps back to improve. Don’t be afraid to go back to some basics on some technique work in the off season and really aim to perfect it. Also make sure to take care of your body . So I’m short focus on what you feel like you need to work and most importantly talk to your coach !

    What are you tips for the swing, grip, and using your arms? I’m new to pole vaulting and I’m getting better, but I’m struggling with multiple different things at different times.

    • @Dominic.Vocals
      @Dominic.Vocals  5 років тому +1

      The most important thing dealing with the vault is that you are improving. the thing with this sport is it takes time and things don't always happen fast or when you want them too. i would say make sure that you are consistently doing drills focusing and different things every week. having a drill regimen outside of runway time can make a world of difference. doing this will start to give you a solid foundation where you can focus on more specific little things. just remember it takes time,

    • @Whathuhwhat
      @Whathuhwhat Рік тому

      My biggest suggestion is take your run off the runway. Taking off the wrong foot is a inconsistency in your run. Find a open place that you can run like the track and if you have access to a pole do some pole runs. If it helps count your steps and focus on the last step (the takeoff) Hope this helps!

    How can you build the strength for the dead hang invert??

    • @Dominic.Vocals
      @Dominic.Vocals  5 років тому

      Are you referring to the dead hang invert shown on the rope drill! Or just in general?

    • @michelledeutsch1030
      @michelledeutsch1030 5 років тому +1

      Both. What exercises should you do to strengthen your core in order to get there? So that one is not discouraged. Should it be like Russian twists or something? Thanks!

    • @Dominic.Vocals
      @Dominic.Vocals  5 років тому

      @@michelledeutsch1030 general core stability as well as strengthening exercises are going to be important for any vaulter especially with the range of positions that we do through are event. exercises like planks, deadbugs, and training gymnastic movement exercises will help a lot with building strength for these exercises. but also doing the exercises with a spotter, resistance band, or a way to deload the movement and create a progression can help as well. if you need ideas or want more detailed progressions email me at "stillxfitness@gmail.com"

      Absolutely not, there are many pole sizes for many weights. take guys for example like Brad Walker, Steve Hooker, Jeff Hartwig
