    Crazy how 2.40m is lower than the high jump world record and the pole vault record is upwards of 6.2m ... Like those athletes are insane!

    I’m a pole vaulter in high school and I love when people make videos and try pole vaulting bc it can be so fun but it’s not something everyone will try.

    This is the video I've been looking for! For years, I wondered how you even get started in pole vault and now I know - thank you!

    When you lift your back leg off the takeoff, your center mass moves upward and becomes less stable on the pole. When you SWING your leg through off of the takeoff and whip it upwards from the hip, your center mass becomes more stable, your lower half rotates upwards more powerfully, and your body goes higher. You got a bit of that at the end. It's very well done for only one week's work.

    I absolutely love this video. I am a masters athletes and have been working on pole vaulting for a few years. I'd say 90% of it is mental. Good positive energy and can-do attitude = successful jump.

    its fun, isn't it?
    i am a highschool pole vaulter and it can be terrifying to run at a box with a pole sometimes, but the more you do it the more comfortable you will become with it. its fun to see you improve and get out of your comfort zone.

    When you drive your knee, it’s on the wrong side when you start with the pole on your right, you drive on the right side of the pole after planting, the way you plant and drive would work it you held it with you started with the pole on your left side

    For a moment there, I thought "I guess Laurie won't make it this time around" But awesome to see that you managed to break some low records. I don't know if I suggested this already, but even though you make physically demanding challenges, what about my dream come true, becoming a model in 30 days lol Man, I would enjoy that a lot! lol

    In NJ (USA), boys opening height in a high school meet is 7’0” (2.13m), so to get to almost 8’0” in only 10 days is very respectable. I’d get you over 10’0” in 10 more days 😜. Great video brother.

    It looks not that hard, but if it's anything like how you made highlining look easy, then it's probably way more progress than what most people do on their first 10 days. Have you done any highlining again since? Are you following up on those activities you do for videos in general?

    • @LaurieShaw
      @LaurieShaw  8 місяців тому +1

      Haha thanks mate! Yeah some of them, the ones that really get me going haha. Highlining I would love to but it is a lot of work setting it up so think I will only do it every now and then

    If it was easy, it would not be an Olympic event; it's fun to watch ppl try these things, but to be under the assumption that it can be mastered in 10 days is unrealistic; it's impressive if you can get over the bar, but to think or expect anything more in 10 days shows that ppl do not understand that this is something that usually takes years to master.

    Стрибки з жердиною це дуже круто. Мені скоро 63 роки. Я теж учусь стрибати і вже стрибнув 2 м 40 см. Але моя мета мінімум 3.20 м.
