I vaulted in high school to 13’ without bending the pole, back in 1971. How would I transition to bending the pole without taking a full speed jump? It would be nice to not just go from going with the pole up , to bending the pole then up. Any advice would be great. Thanks. Tim
@@ApexVaulting no, the top elbow should not be bending and pulling the way she was doing that is a bad habit as well. That elbow should be locked at the point of contact of the tip of the pole to the box. Having arm bent at that point developed bad habits. Everything else looked good
@@TheIronEagle I think we are talking about two different points in the jump. I like a slight bend in the top arm elbow because when the tip hits the back of the box the top arm then straightens and it downs get hit as far behind the head which then requires athlete to correct and row forward which slows down the swing speed. And as far as turning the top arm elbow must bend as your turn. Otherwise you won’t have an effective push off and you will fall off the top of the jump. It makes jumping above your grip more difficult
Gabby's line!
Excellent info
Love the drill...the kids will love trying to reach Gabby's line
Still remember Gabby‘s line to this day 😅

That bend on the top arm is killing me to watch
What do you mean? Doesn’t your top arm elbow have to bend so you can pull turn?

Jazzy Fio you can measure 11’2” behind the back of the box. You can always put a piece of tape down or put a chalk line down
