      Bill wasn't hating on him at all. Bill invited him on the show to begin with and asked legitimate questions parents would ask. Kudos to Marilyn for going on the show. That was cool, but he was still somewhat dishonest, or elusive in a few of his answers. (Come on, grabbing a guy on stage is still sexual regardless of your rationale.) He obviously knows he has an influence on kids, and makes his living doing so. Bill should get some credit for opening his stage to Marilyn, giving him an opportunity to speak freely and defend himself. They both benefitted from this interview. Bill makes his living by having interviews with guys like Marilyn. Win/win, right?
      Bill even says Marilyn is a pretty well-spoken guy. For an old Catholic, that's being pretty fair and open-minded. Sure, he's not going to rush out and buy all the albums, but he didn't just blow him off or call him names either. For his part, Marilyn said he respected BilI for challenging him. I think he respects him not only for inviting him on but also because he stands behind his work and takes responsibility for it. To a degree, Marilyn does the same, and now that he is older, I believe he fears being misunderstood. I do not share all the same values or reasoning as Marilyn, but I really enjoyed this interview. He is much smarter than I would have thought until now. They both did well.

    It’s never an artist’s duty to cater to their audience. An artist’s only job is to express themselves as truthfully as possible, and it’s up to the people to make of it what they will. Audience interpretation is just a reflection of what they want to believe, anyway. Manson is an artist in the truest sense.

      pretty subjective, i would disagree. an artist's only job is necessarily to create art. whether that art must be of some certain form or if it may just be whatever he who calls himself an artist believes to be art is up for debate (as is if he may even be named an artist if the latter case holds true)...

    • @dawnkeener9836
      @dawnkeener9836 Рік тому +3

      If an artist had to cater to the audience they would never get it "right".... Everyone is different and everyone likes different things. That's like trying to make everyone happy.... You can never make everyone happy. If you are try to help people who are different then you have to go about it different... So the people who are trying to maintain the " normal" mentality would not even begin to understand someone who is different.

      I could definitely agree with that. I always made the comparison myself. Bowie did however break new ground musically more so than Manson, but Manson is.much more outspoken and intellectual. The rebellious support of truth and search for utopian balance is the same with both of them. Both will be remembered as historical legendary artists. Unfortunately only one of them is still with us.

    I fucking love Marilyn Manson. His music introduced me to the scene and it was the greatest thing that ever happened to me. I was an outcast welcomed by the other outcasts searching for community. I've met my lifelong friends at shows or in the cd stores. I've seen artists stop mid song to get the crowd to step back or to help obviously distressed fans move to a safer area. I've watched throngs of people step up to the guy taking it too hard in the pit and make sure everyone is safe and having fun. I wouldn't trade it for the world. Rock on friends 🤘❤

This is the perfect definition of “Don’t judge a book by its cover”. Bill thought he was going to lap Marilyn via condescending questions. “Always be the CALMEST person in the room”. I don't agree with everything he (marilyn manson) says or does... but I 100% respect his ability to provoke thought through his form of art ... unfortunately censorship and media take it upon themselves to tell the masses what to think as it fits their own narrative and agendas... follow the money and see who controls this world, and what you are allowed to absorb (and then tell me it's not about power, money, and corruption... I dare you!)

    I would just like to point out that Manson's entire artistic thesis is to hold a mirror up to the ugy parts of society that we dont like to talk about or acknowledge, and then deliberately portray that image. Brian Warner is legitimately a shy, strange, quiet, morbid, introspective, reclusive man. Marilyn Manson is the embodiment of all the shit that we as a society would like to pretend isnt real, but very much is.
    Ive been an MM fan since Spooky Kids days, and even I didnt fully understand why I loved him so much until I saw him on Politically Incorrect with Florence Henderson, who understood his art and his pathology and his method almost immeditaley. They actually became close friends afterwards.
    Look, If Carol Brady herself can figure this shit out and approve, t must be worth something.
