- I've been watching A LOT of DCOM's lately and I found this forgotten gem of a movie. "Can of Worms" is a forgotten Disney channel original movie (DCOM) that was made in 1999. "Can of Worms" is a movie about a boy named Mike (who believes he's an alien) builds a device and pleads to the universe to take him off earth. to his surprise his device worked! now he has to deal with multiple cringy, wacky, and annoying aliens coming to take him away.

I remember being kid watching this movie late at night. I had no idea what I just watched and was just confused the entire time. Now imagine trying to explain to another person what you just saw.
I would 100% think it was just a dream this movie is absolutely WILD

I watched this movie as a child but never knew the name of it. And as time went on, I forgot more and more details until literally all I could really recall were the little brother and bully being imprisoned in an oddly green cell. That was it. And no matter how much I tried, how many Disney Channel Original Movie reviews I watched, I never came across it. I was just beginning to think I had made a lot of it up, or that what I remembered was a case of my brain mixing multiple movies into one. So to finally learn, to finally know, that I'm not crazy and that thiis movie actually does exist I feel so relieved.
I'm so glad I encountered your Goosebumps videos, because without them I wouldn't have been given this video. I never would have seen that stupid little slime alien and gone "Wait a second, that thing looks familiar" and then proceeded to get smacked in the face with how much I know from this movie. The main character (particularly with the fire extinguisher(?) stuff on him), the camera angles, the little boy with the tin foil hat, Barnabas, even the cheerleader outfits was ringing familiar.
So thank you. Thank you so much for looking into a more obscure film that I probably wouldn't have encountered for another decade if I was lucky. You have truly made my day

omg I remember watching this as a kid. My brain just got sent all the way back in time,. You should deff do "Don't Look Under the Bed" , thats a classic, which I didn't know scared other kids so badly they pulled it early.
This feels like an inspiration for calling all creeps (or Atleast when he called the aliens)
Maybe! They were obsessed with aliens and dinosaurs in the 90s so it’s probably just a coincidence
More like the other way around because this movie aired in 1999. The original book series ended in December of 1997 and Goosebumps Series 2000 was the current series.
The aliens were definitely cool looking

Barnabus, the dog and the alien race Mike thought he was from his made-up comic book series are S tier status. I saw this show in the 90s, as a girl I definitely have to say that the slime alien is absolutely gross.
Barnabus is actually iconic I love him
I never watched it growing up but my daughter at 4(2020) picked it to watch for Halloween & now it’s a family tradition

I had forgotten about this movie but the second I saw the aliens in the thumbnail a lond forgotten memory sparked in the back of my mind. God I miss the weird but fun Disney Channel movies. "Don't Look Under the Bed", "Halloweentown" (not the series), "The Thirteenth Year", "Smart House", and "Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century" are among my favorites.
I only saw this movie once as a kid, when it aired around Halloween along with a lot of other weird Disney Channel movies, and all I remembered was the dog, specifically his freaky lip necklace, as well as how terrifying the aliens were. It's not even the only movie with a dog from outer space, there's also "Good Boy", another movie which had alien dogs.
Imma have to check out this good boy movie everyone has been mentioning it

I watched this movie and it engrained itself into my brain, the whole "kid too smart for their own good doesnt feel like he belongs and tries to escape his world" deal. Somehow that narrative always hit hard with me. Same with Explorers or Kingdom Hearts even.
I remember when it came out it was one of those Disney channel original movies of the month. Luck of the Irish too. I liked can of worms a lot

ngl, this was one of my favorite Halloween movies as a kid. I have no explanation to why.
I used to watch all of the Disney originals as they came out. Always loved how weird this one is!

I'm pretty sure I have seen all of the Disney movies made even ones like Johnny Tsunami, Underwraps, Brinks, Luck of The Irish, and all of the underrated and unknown straight-to-TV and VHS movies made by them (back in the day).
I loved this and Luck of the Irish as a kid. Always loved crazy movies especially with awesome practical effects and/or animatronics like yhis one.

Hey, you seem good at tracking down crazy old kid shows. There is one, that has been haunting me for years. But I can never find it, or its name. It involved, zombies, but. The whole town was convinced the one zombie was evil, though the kids believed he was good. And it revealed some big cover up? It was an odd comedy, and really weird.
Was it like a whole series or just an episode? Because there is a haunting hour episode called “best friend forever” that’s similar to that

Oh man I remember this one! I used to love it. Haven't seen it as an adult though.
The beginning of the movie made me think about a similar premise - a father tells his son that they are coming from another planet that got invaded and the invaders wanted to use the boy in some kind ritual when he was a baby. The father rescued his son and escaped with him on Earth and lvie there undercover. Fastforward to present times and the boy is an adult now and he looks for a partner, finds a girl he likes and wonders if he should tell her everything about being an alien. There is also lingering question about whenever this whole alien thing is real or if the guy is deulsional on some level.
I remember liking this movie and but I can't recall thr title right now.

I think I actually watched this movie when it premiered on the Disney channel. I don't remember if I actually liked it or not but, I did like the puppet effects.

I got the novel from a Scholastic Bookfare in 2001. It had the coolest cover art, later I found out about the movie and rented it from my library. But the snot alien brain thing traumatized me and I cried so we turned it off.
