In Interior Design, you never want to choose a wood flooring color that is too similar to that of which you have furniture or cabinets of.
The reason being, is it’ll look as though you attempted to match them but was just slightly off.
I would go for a floor color that is still warm, as all of the wood furniture and cabinets in your house are warm, (so no grays), but are light enough that they look like a different wood next to the wood you already have in your home.
In simple color theory, you always want to keep either a warm or cool theme throughout your home. There are lots of exceptions, but with something as major as the floor, I would stick with warm as the rest of your house is warm.
In Danish Interior Design, they always aim for your wood colors to be reflective of the wood you find in your area. So light woods are definitely the way to go as you’ve already decided on.

I vote the lighter color on the flooring! It will keep it fresher and brighter and airier. You can always update your tables by painting them white eventually if you want! Super easy to slap some paint on the tables to refresh them! Changes are always nerve racking but exciting!!

I would not match the floors and cabinets/tables. I think it would just all blend together and you want a little contrast. I vote for lighter floors! The grey one was really nice too!

Mindy, about two years ago we took away all carpet and put light grey vinyl flooring throughout the house. A lot better to clean, get a smart robot which will sweep away while your busy. Is a lot better for allergies, specially with pets and a baby coming I recommend 100%. I would suggest to get a shade lighter of wood so is not too overwhelming with kitchen cabinets. Anyways Good Luck 🤍

If you're not planning on painting the current wood color, like the kitchen cabinets, then I would avoid cool grey tones in the floor because it will clash. So pick a lighter, warm tone.
If you're going to paint the current wood throughout the house, I would go with the cool grey tones (but lighter warm wood tubes would be nice, too - I agree with going lighter either way).

The best thing we did when choosing flooring was pick the color I thought I wanted, buying one box of it and laying the whole box out. If you decide you don’t like the color you can return it even if it’s been opened, they’ll reseal the box.

Lighter color flooring will keep the rooms bright. I’d recommend going with a warm tone to go with everything else already in the home. A cool tone would clash. As far as the variation you’re seeing, even manufactured laminate will have variations between lot numbers. So when ordering, make sure they provide you with the same lot number for all of the flooring or you might end up with some boxes that vary quite noticeably from each other.
The first floor sample is my favorite. I like light colored flooring.
Definitely the lighter the floor the easier on the eyes (less busy) from what I seen your kitchen table would be similar to the light oak sample. Envision your floors through the table. You could always have your kitchen cabinets painted in the future if it’s to much wood. I’ll NEVER go back to carpet after having wood floors for over 49 years! Even in the bedroom! So much easier to pull out our bed to sweep/mop behind it. Best wishes to you both.
From a photographer myself...just a tip when photographing baby bellies....always bend the knee closest to the camera a bit ( meaning lift that foot closest to the camera and get the heel of the ground) ...it 1. makes your foot look smaller and 2 creates more interest and angle showcasing the baby bump more PLUS it slims out your legs a bit too!! Otherwise lookin great! xoxoxo
I live in va i don't know if Florida has one but we went to lumber liquidators, you can go to the site and select a floor and take a picture of the room and it will show you what it would look like. Also for the cabinet you could always paint them, lowes has a de gloser to take the shine off then prime and get some cabinet paint!
You could do the warmer one you like and get a really nice big light colored area rug especially for baby to sit and lay on

My cabinets are like yours same color but the floor here is darker . I like the shiny floor sample you showed for your floor . Potato chips bags are more air then potato chips paying for air instead of chips
If your cabinets are good wood quality there are companys that paint kitchen cabinets u could then put stone countertop kitchen would look amazing
If you have a Floor & Decor and a Lumber Liquidators store near you, go there and check out their flooring before you decide

I’m sure we are all as excited to see mini Minx just as much as you are 😂 by the way having pets and children, darker colored woods tend to show scratches and things more than the lighter ones. Ans furniture can always change but not as much the floor 🤷🏻♀️

Check out Walmart for maternity clothes. They don't have a huge section but I LOVE their short sleeve shirts. They are super soft! Lots of solid colors and some cute designs. One i got was like a navy blue with a gorgeous floral pattern.
Hi Mindy. My neighbor was having problems with her kitty licking as well. She tried everything until a coworker said she might be allergic to poultry. She changed her food and she is good as new. All her fur grew back and she is a very happy kitty

You could always go with lighter floors and paint your furniture a cream or white. Paint your fireplace a pretty gray. Don’t let your furniture hold you back from the floors you want. Have fun with it. Can’t wait to see what you do 🙂

I’d paint the kitchen units a colour or white if going for a timber look floor. The grey floor is cool tone and nicer but you are right that the table is warm tone, so if you are going to match that I would try stay away from anything too orange or dark. Pintrest is good for inspiration. Enjoy the process xx
Congrats on your pregnancy Mindy and Larry. Sooooo happy for you guys😁💙💙💙. My cat Luna has had similar symptoms to Lexi. We took her to the vet a few times before they actually diagnosed her. The first few times they also treated her for allergies which was a temporary solution. We then found a vet that told us that she has petit mal seizures which is difficult to diagnose (these are not epileptic seizures). She licks and scratches herself aggressively, her ears are sensitive to the touch and sometimes she runs as If she's being chased. She is on medication that curbs her symptoms which is a huge relief to her. If you don't get a proper diagnosis for Lex please ask your vet about this. Much love💗

What???Its been pouring rain in Orlando area!!!!!!Almost daily!!!I think the carpet looks fine with 2 pets and a new baby!I had a cat who scratched off his face..........it turned out to be Hills Science diet he was allergic to that the vet said to use!!!!As soon as I switched to Blue he got better!Buy a pair of maternity jeans.........they are cool.Target has a whole maternity section and I actually love their things and Im not pregnant!!!So glad your like me........I felt great the whole pregnancy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!5 hour easy labor too!HOPE YOU CHANGE TO Blue!!!!!
Wide open with gardening and house/land renovations over her in nc. Well along with normal mom life. Just a tip the lighter floor will pick up yuckyness more and the darker might show pet hair more. I am so against carpet aswell bout 2 remove the last bit in our house.

Just a couple tips . So if I were y’all guys I would wait until the baby starts walking and then take the carpet out. He will be falling a lot as toddlers do and carpet would help that for sure. Also I have laminate wood flooring and my washing machine has messed up a couple times in this house and my old home. Having tile would be best in the laundry room rather than laminate . It warped all my flooring in there 😩
Tip for flooring from a realtor/ someone who loves design!: definitely go lighter on the flooring!
The lighter tones hide scratches and imperfections better over time. Also, you don’t want the floors to match the other wood tones in the house too perfectly, or else the house will feel very overwhelmed by that coloring. Also, your furniture is more than likely going to change way before your floors ever do again! I’d go with a lighter neutral that will match anything and stand the test of time :)
We have the same color of cabinets and our dining table matches them. I'm not a huge fan of the orange color. We got the gray vinyl flooring in case we decide to paint the cabinets down the road and it looks very good as is!
Hiiieeee. I'd definitely paint the pantry door and laundry room the same color as your kitchen. You'll get a cohesive look and regardless of which flooring you pick, that area will look so clean and crisp 😍😍

Speaking as a photographer, I would go with with a lighter floor color and ones with less red/orange tones. That will brighten up the house a lot and this way it won't be the same color as your furniture.

The light wood is pretty, you could paint the furniture to a lighter color or darker to contrast the honey oak.

Go with light color, light taupe for contrast for floor. See the color of your living room floors sort of that color.
You could paint the kitchen cabinets white and then you can have free reign as far as the color of your flooring, that’s an easy DIY

Lighter hands down. You will not regret it.
Go lighter for a contrast and it will help your other furniture to pop and not fade into each other. Have you thought about having your cabinets painted white or light gray? That would help them stand out. Either way will look pretty. 😊 good decision doing everything before baby. We had so many problems with carpet in the main part of the house with kiddos. Major headache relief when we went to vinyl and tile
Definitely don't do your flooring a similar color as your furniture/ cabinets. I would go with the lighter color you chose or something similar! In my experience,lighter gray is a safe option because it can match a wider variety of existing color. On the cabinet note, I think when you and Larry feel up to it, I say go for it with painting them! My husband and I just did ours and it wasn't nearly as awful as we thought and the outcome is *chefs kiss* lol we went with white because they opens up endless possibilities for the future!
Hi Mindy! I am currently 36 weeks pregnant and I HIGHLY recommend investing in Lululemon align leggings. They are spendy but I love that you can wear them after pregnancy as well. The floor that would be lighter is supposed to mimic the grain of a hard wood oak floor and oak has lots of variations. The piece you have was cut to show the pieces of wood coming together. The other floor has pieces that join together but the didn't give you a sample. The darker would not match the kitchen cabinets. Move the samples to your kitchen to see how you feel about it after a couple days. I have to do this because if the color of something bugs me at all then it makes me feel anxious,

I would go lighter than the cabinets because if you go the same color then it’s going to look like too much wood. We for instance have light grey vinyl wood floors and we changed our cabinets color to white ! Just to make things look brighter 😍 lighter is always better 😁!

Wow the weather here in Georgia is usually the same as Florida. We’ve been getting a lot of rain and thunder storms. We got a cold front last week. But this next week we will have a high of 72-74 degrees. Which I’m ready for summer season!!!
You need contrast. So, if you don’t want to go darker, go lighter with the floors. Otherwise, it will be too matchy and the contrast is more attractive to the eye. Also, if you try to match and then once it is installed, you realize it is just a little different, it will clash. Hope that makes sense! Also, when comparing the two floor samples you were discussing the grain of the wood that you weren’t sure you liked. If you find a color you like, the store may have it in another grain. Just ask them.
Mindy when it comes to the floors I’ve learned this over the years especially with our bones u want to pick a floor with Cushion and no Slick because a lot of the floors any lil water u will go sliding especially since u love wearing socks and fuzzy socks . Just keep that in mind look for a rougher feeling floor .
I love the warm honey oak, I think it’s best to have the floor and furniture to have a bit of contrast when they look similar but not the same it can look a little funny especially if you have OCD like me 😊 Also loving the bump 💕
Trust me go with the lighter color floor. We did the dark 3 years ago to match and thought it wyd look good our cabinets like yours etc. We just laid new floors a light gray/tan mix color and I LOVE IT !!! my whole house blends together perfectly. So 8000.00 3 yrs ago a good learning experience. In a "smaller" home like mine as well all the dark will make u feel closed in and you have to match everything to dark floor. Lighter is better. Another note..my dog does same thing the licking and rubbing on furniture. Pure allergies and she gets a shot and it stops and hair grows back. Love the belly 💙

Pataday works great for your eyes with allergies. My eye dr used to prescribe it to me before it was available over the counter. I’ve used it for years. Love seeing your baby bump grow and praying for your continued healthy pregnancy and baby.

Also, I've always heard that if you have light colored walls you'll want dark flooring. And if you have dark colored walls or cabinets you want light flooring. Im not sure if it's really rule of thumb. You may want to ask somebody who knows. Lol..good luck.

Yeah, you have to go to “special maternity clothing stores” or shop them online. There’s some cute stuff out there.
I was pregnant last year and it took me forever to find maternity clothes! I went to Target Kohl’s and Ross some at Walmart too but there isn’t much unless you order online
I love the lighter color floor. My husband has a flooring business and has been doing it for years. To answer your question about the way they are put together most likely, I'm not 100% because I would have to see the exact product but there is most likely multi sized boards in each box which is suppose to make it look more real then LVP. They most likely put the sample like that so you could see the different boards but when it is installed they should spread them out and all around so it won't be all crazy like the sample. My suggestion is look up the product itself and the manufacturer should have a picture of a bigger portion of a room laid. Love you guys I have been watching for years.
My dad does home Reno’s for a living and he said to us to do a colour thats different than colour of your cupboards so there’s contrast.
