Unassisted tower climb in Talos Principle

- I somehow got the idea that the Solipsist achievement in The Talos Principle was for climbing the tower without getting help from the other robots, so I figured out how to do that. From the easter egg near the end, it seems like the developers predicted this.

Any chance you could explain that to me? I never understood what the purpose was of her voice being a thing in the game.
@@hammse2 I think she's a plot element; she gives you insights regarding the world you're in, what happened outside, and gives you some hints to doubt Elohim (the speech about questioning assumptions, etc). Also, she's the only other human voice in the game; the voice of "hope" (risk taking, sacrifice for the future, the completion of the cycle) vs the voice of "faith" (elohim - staying in the place you know, doing what you know works) vs the "voice" of "reason" (MLA, trying to prove what you believe, only moving when you're sure).

[Spoilers] Her audio files are important to fully understand the game. Humans, for some reason, were going to be extinct, but her team (specially her) worked hard because they believed humanity could survive even if humans have all died. They believed that the Talos Principle answer was "yes, a robot can be a conscious being", but, for that, they needed to create an intelligent robot. "Intelligence is the ability to question existing thought-constructs. If we don't make that part of the simulation, all we'll create is a really effective slave". When we question Elohim and ascend, we are intelligent, conscious, a "human". The purpose of the project was to accomplish this, to make the robot ready to go to the real world carrying questioning with it

this is what the whole "Talos Prinicple" was about they wanted us to defy them and have free will.
It is genuinely so crazy seeing the famed creator of my second-favorite game, Minecraft, play my favorite game, Talos. Despite being completely different in concept, graphics, and popularity, both of games completely shaped my childhood. Good job!
Perhaps this is your calling, Notch. To make a game solely focussed on climbing to the top of several towers. Oh wait, Ubisoft has already made several of those...

Bit of a late reply, but that jump is terrifying. And if you're slow, you run the risk of jumping too late and ending up in the rising... uhhh.. fog. Or whatever it is.

The level design in this is simply amazing (second only to the final level of Braid). And to think they even thought of a way to finish without assistance! The designers are genius, and you sir is a genius too for finding it out!
Also, Samsara is a bitch.

Interesting. This is the second solo ascend video I see, and not only is it completely different from the first one, it's also signifcantly different from my own solo ascend (which I did before I saw either video.) My own attempt diverted from yours when I used the first box to jump onto the platform that Samsara is first seen (once she leaves it), holding a connector.
wow... climbing that tower was already difficult enough as it was - I couldn't imagine how much time it took to figure this out... unreal

They're not cubes, they're hexahedrons. But let's be honest, they work the same.
I discovered a shortcut, you can aim the red beam between a narrow gap in the wall instead of having to send the cube over the high platform and back with the connector

Is the Sheppard smart enough to solve the tower alone? if yes, why is he still in the tower? did he refuse to try to run away to the real world?
This is really confusing because, if you read the QR codes in the tower, The Shepherd is the offspring of Sheep, and Sheep says something like "I was so close, I saw the clouds and the gate, but I was at the wrong place at the wrong time". How on Earth can you be close enough to see the gate and still fail? Also, The Shepherd says "Samsara and Elohim tricked me and trapped me here"; what happened?

Also: I don't think that Solipsist trophy is earned by doing this at all. I have the same trophy and I never did what you did. According to my automated trophy screenshot, I got it in one of the regular snowy puzzles from World C.
You get that acheivement if you solve all puzzles without using any hints from the messengers

goddamn how did you figure the second to last one out i got stuck on it.
I can't even make the first jump on the little side platform, it always knocks me off. xd
I was able to do that first section without Shepherd. Problem is, once I did that, he was stuck there. So I was committed to do the whole tower without him. And I couldn't remember how to do the rest of it. 😆
