1. Get your hydroquinone from a board certified dermatologist.
2. The ideal formula would be a product that contains hydroquinone and Tretinoin.
3. Avoid halo hypopigmentation by applying vaseline or aquaphor around the dark spot before you apply the hydroquinone.
4. Use a Q-tip when applying hydroquinone, avoid getting it on your hands and in your mucous membranes.
5. Avoid rebound hyperpigmentation by using hydroquinone for three months and then taking a break for 3 months. During your break period, use different tyrosinase inhibitors.
6. Use sunscreen
7. 4% hydroquinone is the gold standard. "More is not better."
Would you recommend benzoyl peroxide
@@account01234benzoyl peroxide is used to kill bacteria in the face, aka spots/acne.
Mine is 5% hydroquinone from a renowned black Harley Street dermatologist. I like her answer about using vaseline. Taking breaks from hydroquinone is a great thought...
Thanks Doctor.
I literally am in love with Dr Hani😭😭❤️❤️🙌🏽🙌🏽
Doctor with great ethics 👍 thank you for your detailed information🙏
There’s this company called Pretty Biznez that’s been around for some years now. Now, I’ve had prescription hydroquinone in the past, but I can honestly say this company’s products are pretty dang close to my hydroquinone experience. I’ve tried a lot of dark spot products and I would definitely recommend them over all. There is oil in the products but it didn’t break out my combo skin. I think my only gripe is making sure to shake well before applications. The owner used it to drastically change her skin tone 😩 but I find it awesome for hyperpigmentation.
@بنت the brightening moisturizer. I also use the max or advanced strengths. Once daily was good enough for me. 🙂
Thank you for putting me on girl
Which product do you recommend for deep hyperpigmentation (that’s been there for years)?
Could you please do a video on dry skin conditions such as eczema and safe products to use on it to get rid of hyperpigmentation ❤
If you get a good solution let me know 😭 just had my period and it wrecked my skin/face. Extra hyperpigmentation + dry flakes 💔
Hey Dr.Hani,
I am from India . I recently came across your youtube channel when I was searching to get rid of hyperpigmentation . And your’s was the best one I watched. I have been using skin whitening creams for 2 years now to get rid of pigmentation in my face but it worked initially and the skin was clear . Now the pigmentation is slowly coming back in addition to that I have melasma in my cheeks. I don’t no what to do. I want to stop using the cream but I’m afraid that it would worsen the pigmentation in my face despite knowing it is bad . Hope u would help me
Perfect timing. My daughter's skin changed 2 to 3 shades darker. We are going to see a dermatologist
Love your videos! I’m still suffering from hyperpigmentation on my legs that just won’t budge. I’ve been using the Mario’s AHA body wash, the kojic acid soap bar from Amazon as well as some The Ordinary products. I am not seeing any progress.
thank you sis! i would try adding in some more stuff i mention in the hyperpigmentation video like alpha arbutin but if all else fails you can safely use 4% HQ. and all the info on how to avoid the side effects is in the video! good luck ♥️♥️
@@VoteforHani would u please explore tumeric masks and give your opinion? Try it on someone that's not using extra products, results could help with mild hyperpigmentation. It did for me, that's what I used to lighten my upper lip. I used it last summer and it lightened and cleared my face and the results stayed for months since I stayed in a colder climate. Will try tanning this summer and see what happens
The halo hypopigmentation is what happened when I used prescription hydroquinone drops on acne scars in my 20’s. I stopped and haven’t used it since. My skin pigment came back. I also used Retin-A cream to treat acne but stopped because I got horrible persistent acne and more scars. I was seeing a dermatologist at the time…. I later got an acid peel to take care of these issues. That was about 35 years ago.
The breakout from your Tretinoin was purging. It means it was working and well. You can purge up to 12 weeks.
Does anyone know why she stop making videos? I hope she's o.k.
She’s fine! Dropped a comment 12 days ago
She’s starting a business that’s really demanding
She’s fine and she has her new serum product that can be purchased. Go to the video where she is talking about hyperpigmentation routine and click more in her bio . A link is provided to purchase.
So do you have any safe skin care routines for hyperpigmentation on knuckles, knees and elbows? Wildly appreciate your videos ❤
If you are using it on your knuckles, knees and elbows that’s bleaching. I think she advocates using it for dark spots, not general bleaching
Hi Hani, Do you have any advice to help tighten skin when going through weight loss? Thank you for all of the great information.
I had some success on hyperpigmentation using diy tumeric face mask. ❤(tumeric powder+honey 🍯 +lemon) It was gentle and results came with days. Only set back is that it bleaches and brightens your skintone. For me I want un even skintone and not a lighter complexion so I stopped using it just for that.🤔
How did you use it? Everyday?
There are some misconceptions of the usage of hydroquinone- I was prescribed by my dermatologist a compound that consist of Hydroquinone 8%, tret0.025%, Kojic acid 6%, and Fluoc 0.01% cream. He advised me to use it over my entire face. He also says to use it for 6 months on and then 6 months off. I'm worried about these compounds and how to use it. The strength of the hydroquinone 8% worries me. I've been using it for about a week, but I think I may use it every other day because of the strength. I will probably do what you suggest and use it on the dark spots only but there are a few dermatologists that say to use it over your entire face. This is what confuses me.
ETA: I suffer from Melasma
Would you mind sharing an update on that?
How’s it going?
@@jaylove1931 - I stopped using it a few days after I posted that comment. I didn't want to make my melasma worse. I'd rather be safe. In fact, my melasma has improved without the compound. I only use the Elta MD SPF46 sunscreen
@@unityaboriginelove6595 Sometimes things prescribed by our dermatologists are exactly, the opposite of what my skin needs. I dealt with extreme eczema and light acne and I just stopped taking what she prescribed for me. Started using my own products and my skin feels better than ever before.
I finally had my dermatology appointment for hyperpigmentation (small patch left cheek and a thin line top lip) and was prescribed 4% Hydroquinone (does not include Tretinoin however). She, not being a woman of color, I thank you as I was armed with enough info from your videos to ask the right questions and understood the medical terminology she used along the way. She also instructed the 3 months on/3 months off regimen and a sunscreen. Do you recommend any particular sunscreen? Would it also "help" to add a sunshade to my driver's side window since that is the main area affected (left cheek)? Thanks again!!
absolutely to sunshade if you can get one! it causes UVA exposure on that cheek. r.e. sunscreen any are fine as long as at least SPF50 and you put a good amount on. i would recommend re-applying but i am guilty of not always doing that myself! xx
@@VoteforHani I so appreciate you..thank you!!
Hi, Dr. Hani where can I purchase these products? I just found your channel today on UA-cam. I‘ve Melasma on my face due to menopause.. Thanks
Do you think the kojic acid bar soap is good to get rid of hyperpigmentation around the mouth, do you think it's effective at all?
i have the same issue, around the mouth. im gonna start using my soap more consistently to see..
Hi this does the kojic acid serum from Victoria health itch a bit when u put it on :)
Thanks for posting this, would kojic soap be good for me to use to even out my entire face?
Nope use the kojic acid cream itself
where can you buy it can you recommend a brand? @@taniad2873
this is so helpful, thank you! 🖤
Hi Dr Hani. I was using Retin A and now I’m 6 shades darker on my face! Do you have any suggestions on how to go back to my normal color, without bleaching creams?? Please and thank you!!😊
I am using Retin A too and I had the same issue in the beginning until I realized that I had just damaged my skin barrier. When I noticed this change of tone I slowed down on the usage. I stopped Retin A for a few days until my skin skin looks recovered, then I went from using Retin A every night to every second day.
unrelated to this video but can anyone help me? my mandelic acid toner (from the ordinary) says it should be washed off, but in the hyperpigmentation video it says it should be swiped on darker areas with a cotton pad and left there. is it okay if i don’t wash it off?
yep don’t wash it off x
Heyyy where you at did you come out with your skin products im waiting. I see you haven’t been here in a minute..😮
i am here! just building my brand and manufacturing my hyperpigmentation serum! its taken 2.5 years and its finally coming out in 2.5 months! if you're on the mailing list you will get an email when we launch xx
Very helpful and informative video on Hroquinone.
Bless up, Doc. 🙌🏾😊
my dermatologist suggested me
hydroquinone usp 2% ,mometasone furoate ip 0.1% and tretinoin usp 0.025% formula. I'm scared to use it 😢
should I use it?
Do you have any recommedations for dandruff or seborrheic dermatitis?
what do I do if most of my hyperpigmentation is gone thanks to previous products but there's stubborn parts that those products have stopped working on?
my problem is hyperpigmentation on my lower buttcheeks. its on where i sit. i don't know what to do because it always touching when i sit
Hey, Dr, can you post a video how to safely bleach your skin. I want to fade a sun tan to get my original skin tone back ,and not bleach so much that I look ashed out
Dont sun tans just fade naturally ? Lol
Can you recommend anything for dark lip. Thanks
Dr Hani should you apply HQ before or after moisturizer

Can you please recommend some sunscreens? Physical and or chemical
I second this please! I’m looking for a mineral/physical sunscreen
Black skin colour is good for physical sunscreen not chemical and before I recommend good one for you I need to know if ur oily, dry or normal skin?
Do these routines work if you have hyperpigmetation from hair removal?
Hi Hani can people with rosacea use it?

Any know of hydroquinone products that can be shipped to or are in Canada?
Where is doctor Hani?
Please do a review on “perfec tone “ products.
How do I get in touch to get a consultation please?
I have something called pigmentary demarcation lines on face ...can it be resolved?
It's very disappointing that in your two videos on hydroquinone, you fail to mention the severe damage to the thyroid gland that can be caused by the chemical. I know two women who used illegal hydroquinone creams for many years, one beginning in her teens (the toiletries were purchased from under the counter at "beauty" shops in South London).
The older of the two women developed a goitre which necessitated her thyroid gland to be removed. She is now dependent on medication to replicate the function of her missing thyroid. The other woman also developed a goitre but was reluctant to undergo surgery (and the subsequent need for medication) because she was pursuing fertility treatments. Her goitre continued to grow and now impacts her trachea, meaning that surgery must take place very soon, followed by life-long medication as a replacement for the hormones that will be missing.
The link between hydroquinone and thyroid dysfunction is well documented; a brief search on Google yielded this paper, which might be of interest to you: Owolabi, J. O., Fabiyi, O. S., Adelakin, L. A., & Ekwerike, M. C. (2020). _Effects of Skin Lightening Cream Agents - Hydroquinone and Kojic Acid, on the Skin of Adult Female Experimental Rats._ Clinical, cosmetic and investigational dermatology, 13, 283-289. doi.org/10.2147/CCID.S233185.
It's surprising that you do not make any mention of thyroid dysfunction in either of your hydroquinone videos.

4:03 so if the halo hypopigmentation does occur, will it repigment if you cease the usage of the hq cream? And if so, can I prevent the repigmentation from turning into hyperpigmentation again by using alpha arbutin and actives of the sort? ❤❤🙏🏾
She said in another video that it would repigment once you stop the treatment
How do you treat rebound pigmentation?
Has anyone used Reliable RX Pharmacy in the past? Recommend or not????? Thanks 😊
Where can I get hydroquinone in the UK?
How to help resistant hyperpigmentation in the bikini area?
What about retinal instead of tret?

Wow you are beautiful doc!!
But doctors dont prescribe tretinoin alone. My doc gave me tretinoin, hydroquinone and the steroid at a compound pharmacy. And 6% hydroquinone. I have severe hyperpigmentation

Hi, Dr. Hani this is Carolyn, would you put me on your Mailing list please. Thanks.
Hydroquinone takes long to work
Hi Dr Hani,
I have a question is it possible to “cure” psoriasis or at least reduce it from flaring up without using prescribed creams that would work at the start but once you stop using it it comes back even worse. Also I can’t use them because my skin is extremely sensitive and could potentially cause a dangerous flare up if you answered it would mean the absolute world to me🫶🏾🫶🏾
Hani, love your channel! I am your new subscriber. Could we use the same recipe for intime places, if not could you please do video? Thank you :*
Could you please do a video on teen skin care please?
